Coffee Party activists say their civic brew’s a tastier choice than Tea Party’s
Behold, the rise of “Coffee Party.” Stunned by the virtual overnight mobilization and organization of an angry, high-tech, middle class right wing uprising against Obama’s rapid march towards European socialism, the Left has crashed from its hopey-changey high to find itself faced with some serious problems. Progressivism is an ideology of continual movement. It is protest marches and gatherings, lesbian brown bag lunches, and speeches about “the struggle” for (insert favorite cause here – civil rights, gay rights, equality, nuclear disarmament etc). With the pinnacle finally reached by what they saw as the election of one of their own they seemed to have finally collapsed from exhaustion as they declared a paradigm shift, the exile of anyone to the right of Hillary to wander in the political wilderness for a generation, and the thousand year reign of He who slow the rising of the oceans. But by doing so they seemed to have passed the mantle of energy, rebellion against the status quo, and anti-establishment anger to the peasants who had been working the fields and serving as the backbone of the state all along even while the agitators agitated and the community organizers organized.
The TEA party types on the other hand have re-emerged from their brief stint in the political wilderness with a rightious indignation that has frightened the ruling classes and shaken the corrupt cabal that controls the capitol. Armed with tweets and facebook, pitchfork and torch, they are the most visible aspect of the Right-wing uprising against those who would force us down the road to serfdom. The Teaparticans stand for fiscal responsibility, free markets, limited government, and lower taxes. It will be interesting to learn what the Coffee Party people think they stand for…

From the coffee party website:
The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them
“Those who obstuct them?” “Cooperation in government?” Do these people even remember that Republicans controlled the government once not too long ago and that Republican legislature constantly dealt with obstructionism and a lack of cooperation?
Furthermore, do they even see the irony in saying that the Federal government “is not the enemy of the people” when they spent entire years of ’05 through ’08 hating, heaping scorn on and having ill will toward that same government and members of it?
Are there any grown ups left to run the world?
E, what’s good for the Goose is never Good for the Gander, you should know that by now.
When the pendulum swings back those on the right will bitch. Our ideals are better and our ideology superior. I am not quite sure just how superior our behavior is on balance. There are very few adults on the reservation of political struggle.
Well said.
We watched the Left throw a “no blood for oil” temper tantrum for eight years. I hardly think we’ll suddenly be “surprised” and start bitching about the Left suddenly holding a few rallies down the road.
You missed my point. My point is not the rallies, Dave. I was addressing E’s comment. Let me draw your attention to a few years ago when the right, including this blog, called the Democrats/Liberals “The Party of No”. We bemoaned how they were blocking Bush’s appointments for judges and even administrative positions. All this was before they achieved their majority in ’06.
Sorry.
I still love you!
