Pelosi: ‘A bill can be bipartisan without bipartisan votes’(Drudge Headline)
The soon-to-be-ex Speaker of the House (November, 2010) tortures logic beyond all recognition:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday that Republicans have left their mark on the healthcare bill and should accept that the bill will go forward.
“They’ve had plenty of opportunity to make their voices heard,” she said on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday morning. “Bipartisanship is a two-way street. A bill can be bipartisan without bipartisan votes. Republicans have left their imprint.”
She argues that because a few Republican-sponsored items have been added to the Health Care bills currently receiving legislative CPR in Washington, the entire initiative can be considered “Bipartisan” even without a single GOP “Yea” vote. This would be like your wife purchasing a car against your will while you were at work (true story) and then claiming it was a “Joint” decision because the vehicle has the kind of cup holders you like.
