Hitchen’s… has cancer
Even though I didn’t agree with him, this is not the way to go.
I have been advised by my physician that I must undergo a course of chemotherapy on my esophagus. This advice seems persuasive to me. I regret having had to cancel so many engagements at such short notice.
There is only a slim chance he could recover. Yeah, he may not believe in God… but it doesn’t hurt to say a prayer for him. I hope he finds peace and makes a recovery.
UPDATE: I turned off the comments as this isn’t about Religon. This is about a man who happens to have cancer in which I don’t agree with everything he has said. If that is a problem for some, then they need not worry about making a remark.

Blast From The Past
It was May 30, 2008, a simpler time. A time when Obama was still the Messiah. A time when eight million Americans got up daily to work at jobs they do not have today. A time when the globe was still warming and the seas still rising. A time for kudoes and accolades, when a bunch of guys on a group blog all entered…

Alas, The Hatemonger’s Quarterly is defunct, but if we all beg hard enough perhaps The Crack Young Staff may come back to share their lovely, lovely hate with us all once again. Meanwhile, do yourself a favor and peruse the archives. The Beast recommends “Complaints Department” for starters.

Meanwhile, Bretibart offers $100,000 for full JournoList archives. There’s gotta be some juicy left wing media (but the Beast repeats himself) epistemic closure stuff in there judging by the alacrity with which fellow lefty teeny-bop founder Ezra Klein flushed the stash down the crapper.

Another great political ad
Great. As in no-holds-barred, in your face, Christian and conservative. And you can never go wrong watching a good-looking gal fire a machine gun. Such ads are what makes elections somewhat bearable. We need a couple hundred more just like her in congress.
Sex complaint against Gore is detailed, credible
Ick. Disgusting. Unfortunately, sex scandals seem to go hand-in-hand with powerful A-type personalities.
Though I find him utterly distasteful, I really, truly hoped that if Al Gore had to break up with his wife Tipper, it would have truly been because they simply grew apart.
This is not to say I am being a “rah-rah” chorus for divorce. I’m a divorcee myself, and it is a grueling, painful ordeal best gone through my making as much peace with the ex as possible.
It turns out that Mr. Global Warming (or whatever his pet cause is called this week) was a letch. Byron York of the Washington Times has the gory details. Somewhere out there, Bill Clinton’s got to be cracking up.

VIDEO: Vera Ogrizović – Ricercar Kalij (by Dušan Bogdanović)
I’ve become a bit of a classical guitar nut recently, thanks to a rather lovely woman inspiring me to delve into the genre a bit deeper these days. Some years ago, I took in on consignment the records of a Los Angeles-based label called MA Recordings. One of the artists I listened to was Serbian-American maestro Dušan Bogdanović. The disc was amazing, but the label’s advertising budget was nil, and we sold few. Still, his name kept popping up when I lived in the Balkans, and I’d talk with people who worked with him off and on.
This piece, Ricercar Kalij, is a favorite of mine, and it is performed by Vera Ogrizović, a splendid guitarist herself.

Mexican singer El Shaka killed after denying his murder

Mexico is a land rich with tradition, and they have a musical heritage that ranks well with any country on Earth. Narcocorridos are not part of that tradition. Rather, it is part of the musical cesspool that is so disregarded that some local authorities banned this excrement. It is not that I have anything against the musicality of the bandas. In fact, some of these are utterly magnificent instrumentalists. It is the fact that they glorify the vile animals ruining the country in a way that makes gangsta rap artists look like choir boys that gets my goat.
One of the bigger artists in the genre, El Shaka, was murdered today. Ironically, he had had to announce that he was not dead thanks to an erroneous press report. He was shot to death in his Cadillac at close range. His murder makes him the seventh musician killed in the past three years. The wages of peddling the glories of a drug baron are on display for everyone to see. What a waste of talent.

Joe Biden endorses Jim Yarmouth
Joe Biden, fresh on cussing out a custard man, came to Kentucky to endorse Jim Yarmouth. Only problem, it’s John Yarmouth:
Along the way, he’s taking credit for creating 800 new jobs at GE over the next two years, hopefully.
That’s wonderful considering GE has cut 19,000 jobs over the last two decades.
However, given the GE CEO passed out from too much heat, at a GE plant, they might want to re-focus that push on washers and dryers and shoot for better air conditioning. But then again, how often do they have to compete with Joe Biden?

Disneyland Selling Out
Disneyland in Anaheim, CA is just one more corporation that is selling out in the name of commercialism. One of the attractions at Disneyland, Tom Sawyer’s Island, use to be a place for wide-eyed little “Tom Sawyer’s” to lose themselves in adventure while learning about this Mark Twain character. Now, the once Tom Sawyer’s Island is “Pirates Lair,” with none of that early Americana appeal that once was the original draw to Disneyland. Disneyland use to educate through entertainment. Now, it seems Disneyland is using product promotion to please investors. Even the Pirates of the Caribbean ride has Johnny Depp as the star and not the original pirates.

Something nice about Senator Robert Byrd
In the life of a politician, there is one day when everyone is obligated to say something nice about them. For Senator Robert Byrd, today is that day. I have never been a fan of Robert Byrd. He did a lot of things a conservative would cringe about. Lots. But, today is that day. He did one thing I always did like, a LOT. To me, the biggest problem the federal government has, and this comes from experience working with it, is that almost the entire “mind” of the feds is within the beltway in Washington, DC. Once otherwise knowing and learned people go inside the beltway, they suddenly become stupid. Not in a low IQ kinda way, but in a common sense kind of way. No longer does the rest of the Unites States really matter, it’s whatever makes sense within the beltway. Tossing local issues at a person within the beltway often leads to nothing but confusion until you adapt whatever it is you’re wanting to do to beltway logic. Don’t argue within someone inside the beltway over things that don’t exist there, you will lose. They’re not going anywhere. Once they leave the beltway at the end of the day, I think they suddenly become human again. Senator Robert Byrd, for reasons I’m not terribly sure of, decided the FBI needed to be in West Virginia. It was a huge joke at the time. But, I liked the idea. In this day of instant communication, we don’t need to have the entire federal government in Washington, DC. In fact, for the good of the government, I think we need to move them out of the swamp. Move the entire FBI headquarters to West Virginia. We’ll take the CIA here. Health and Human Services NEEDS to be North Dakota in the worst possible way. Homeland Security NEEDS to be in southern Arizona in the worst possible way as well. The Department of Labor needs to be in Mexico City apparently.
Senator Byrd got that part right. To his detriment, he dropped the ball when we needed it most. I really do think if these agencies were operating in places a little more open to fresh air ( and general public scrutiny ), we would have all the lunacy coming out of DC we do now.
So, in his honor, I think we need to start demanding that DC be de-centralized and the swamp returned to it’s original state in order to combat global warming.
Robert Byrd dies at 92
I’m no fan of the old Klansman, but Robert Byrd died today. Like him or not, he was a force in Congress. Godspeed to him, wherever he goes.

In the Absence of Leadership…
Day 2 of the long awaited vacation found me once again hitting the beach, concerned about what I would find. The beaches of South Walton – 15 or so of them – stretch along 30-A, about as far south as you can get along the lower curve east of the panhandle of Florida. So far I think I have seen one tar ball, which I removed from the water. I really couldn’t tell because it was wrapped in green algae and try as I would have to get a better look at it, that algae is nasty… But the most impressive thing I have seen on my vacation so far is the community spirit I have found here – and the willingness of the community to step up when no one else will.
Children playing in algae infested waters
Ok, so BP hasn’t ruined my vacation plans… yet.
Living on the southern end of the continent makes life interesting this time of year in general, usually for hurricanes and the occasional accusation of my occupation as a spy for the Union Army – a charge which I still vehemently deny but am beginning to worry about, as the Manchurian Candidate keeps showing up in my Netflix queue unexpectedly. But I digress. Read the rest of this entry
The Patriot Declaration
As a perpetual activist for the conservative cause I have engaged in numerous activities and symbolic actions to promote my chosen ideology. Recently, it has come into vogue to present declarations and statements as a way to outline for the general public and the media what the overall conservative and Liberty movements are all about as well as what they stand for. I am a signer of the Mount Vernon Statement and wrote a lengthy explanation as to why I signed the Manhattan Declaration. Apparently, you can also sign the Contract from America now if you so choose.
Today I signed The Patriot Declaration which I have taken the liberty of reproducing below. Maybe someday we should release a Constitution Club Manifesto. It seems to be the thing to do.

China rewrites history of Korean War

Here’s an odd story, courtesy of the (U.K.) Telegraph. China has rewritten its textbooks to say that North Korea did indeed strike the first blow in the Korean War, after decades of teaching that America and the United Nations were the aggressors. This comes as good news to the governments in Washington, D.C. and Seoul, as perhaps Chinese historians are finally learning the truth about the war.

Through the Eyes of a Child
Being a mother of three children, I realize as each day passes that my kids speak from their truth as to how they see the world. You would think such images to a small child would be that of ice cream cones and playing in the parks, most especially during the summer months they are out of school. Most days are so, yet there are those moments that you realize children see darkness no matter how the spin of light is placed upon them.
My seven-year-old daughter watches images on the tv screen each evening. As we watched the news last night, she noted the oil spill continuing to spout up into the ocean. “Is that hole STILL not plugged up mama?! How come they built that oil thing but didn’t figure out what to do if it broke?” Very good question.

The Seductive Temptress
The modern political persuasion called Liberalism can be compared to a beautiful, seductive temptress. Alluring and destined to feel good for a while but after a fling with this wily ideology one is left realizing that the intoxicating goddess was more like a cheap prostitute. This seducer of the mind and soul leaves one intellectually and spiritually bankrupt, and infected with a life long hatred of tradition, morals and values. The Liberal or Progressive ideology is definitely a feel good political philosophy. As the Bible so wisely warns us to resist the temptations of the flesh so must we resist the emotional temptation and seduction of modern Liberalism.

Great White Sharks Headed Back To Cape Cod

"It's in the POND! It's going into the POND!"

"Ou est Newicks?"
It took a few years for authorities to admit this, but late summer off the Cape beaches isn’t just for leathery 80 year old Kebbekers in neon speedoes anymore. It’s also Great White Shark season.
Starting around 2006-07, White Shark sightings have become more and more common, beginning in late July and peaking around early September. Last year five whites were tagged over the course of a few days, several in the surf line, just off the beach. Now it appears they’re headed back, according to the Boston Herald.

However, not trusting a large federal government, that was the only obligation the United States of America was given.

President of the Minorities, by the Minorities, and for the Minorities
When President Obama said, “Our time has come,” throughout his campaign speeches for president, I knew what he meant. He was beginning his divisive bid for president. And that divide he created is continuing to carry on in his presidency today. President Obama’s strategy has been and always will be, winning the minority cause vote. He is sympathetic to the minority cause and gains support from minorities and those who support the minority cause. And since Americans are sympathetic to others less fortunate, Christian values, President Obama did well with his strategy and took the oval office, even without realistic experience (think community organizer). Now, that he is being discovered for the inexperienced president he is, his strategy although powerful, will most likely not keep him succeeding. Unfortunately, the tea party movement with its good intention of taking American principles back, has the Obama legacy attached to it that white people are out to undermine the minority cause, therefore sadly get the racist label in many cases.

This is indicative of the complete chaos coming out of the Obama administration at this time. And, given liberal philosophy, it won’t stop.
The Obama Department of Labor just spent your money to put together an advertising campaign letting illegal workers know they have rights to minimum wage standards. In Spanish.
They don’t have one in French. Guess Ms. Solis isn’t too worried about French Canadians being taken advantage of. That could never, ever, ever, be considered racial profiling would it?

25 ex-Gitmo Saudis relapse into militancy
This might drive anti-war moon-bats crazy, but the reality is that those militants should have been held indefinitely until the war ended decisively or the military should have done what they needed to do in the field. Like it or not, Guantanamo is not going away. If the POTUS, who ran on a platform of getting rid of it won’t do so, then it’s here to stay. Unintentionally Funny Is The BEST Kind Of Funny
It appears that Nadine Of Pagan Pride is fed up with her fellow Leominster Massachusetts residents. When she runs around town in a black cowled robe bedecked with a red-ribboned Pentacle she gets snickered at – and she’s had enough! She’s published a plea for respect in the local paper:
Displaying my religion openly is how I feel I can contribute to this movement. So when I am on the receiving end of negative comments on my religious dress, this is not only insulting me but my religion. The comments I have received include, but are not limited to: Harry Potter, batman, superman, grim reaper, Vampire. The one negative comment that was really offensive was “it’s not Halloween.”
Yet in spite of these comments, I will continue what I am currently doing – including wearing my dress whites at the appropriate times, and my directional color dress on occasion. Throwing McChrystal under the bus
I’m not going to spend much time or effort on this one.
Obama has to fire McChrystal. McChrystal left him no other option. McChrystal did it on purpose. Obama was totally ignoring him, totally ignoring the war, and putting his men in harm’s way for no real purpose. He had no choice but to call out Obama.
McChrystal was a fool for accepting the position in the first place knowing how anti-military Obama was.
That’s it.

Passing on the most basic responsibility of governing
Steny Hoyer has decided Congress doesn’t need to pass a budget this year. It’s just too darned complicated to pass a budget when there’s all that darned debt. Rather than being faced with the possibility of increasing the debt even more, or making painful budget cuts during an election year, Hoyer is punting until later when there’s not an election to worry about.
I thought this comment was amazingly appropriate:
House Democrats are now on the cusp of failing to meet the most basic responsibility of governing – enacting a budget. The truth is, the American people are not the only ones who are rejecting the Democrats Party’s policies – so are some Democrats. After years of helping their party and president dig a massive fiscal hole, some Democrats are now running scared that their misguided policies will finally catch up to them at the ballot box this November.
Those words were spoken by Steny Hoyer in 2006. I changed one word. Wanna guess which one?

Teaching young, impressionable minds is no small ‘feet’.
I wish people who criticize teachers knew more about the job. I understand that teacher’s unions are protecting bad teachers, but being against teachers in general on that basis is unfair. Highly qualified teachers who are credentialed to teach in U.S. public schools now have to take at least three strenuous tests, get a bachelors degree and a teaching credential. The process takes approximately 8 or 9 years, close to equivalent of other high paying careers, lawyers, doctors…Those who are saying teachers get paid to much and have too many benefits are not complaining about other occupations. Teachers chose to get into the field because of the benefits and teaching children. Teaching young, impressionable minds is no small ‘feet.’ Teacher’s unions have served a purpose in our country, but have gotten too all powerful, I agree. I started my career at $35,000 about 6 years ago. I make more now, but no where in comparison to what doctors and lawyers make. Teachers are a necessary public service and the job is way more important than people realize. Teachers are on the front lines serving as children’s educators for a major part of their lives.

Obama’s EPA Approved candle
Hey all. I’m, glad to be here. I don’t normally post an awful lot. I’ll kick it off with an observation that I think is the perfect example of what exactly Obama has in mind for our future. I stumbled across this on a clandestine mission a few days ago:
Not to be confused with a jar of blood, it’s a candle. It’s wax. It’s only wax. There is no wick. It does not burn. It does not emit light. It is a zero-carbon footprint candle. Now, I was assured this was most likely a screwed up attempt at a real candle, but I know better. I’m much too fast to pass that test. This is some company’s shot at the federal candle market. It fits perfectly into the EPA’s new no-carbon standards. Now, although I have no factory, I will offer anyone who wishes to have the Obama EPA approved candle for $19.99. Sure, it’s a little pricey for a candle, but in order to meet EPA’s new no-carbon standards, extra effort has to be made to remove the wick. Not sure how much shipping and handling will be as I’m not sure any shippers can meet the new no-carbon standards yet. But, somehow, for some cost, I will get it to you. Promise. I’ll bill you for whatever I want to charge after you get it.

Debbie Schlussel is still off her rocker
I like Cassy Fiano’s writing. Mil-Wives are a respectable lot, and they bear a grave cross that’s worth of the respect due a woman of her position. I also normally think well of Debbie Schlussel, but in this case she is beginning to look like a nut-burger. Why the lady is trying to sling hash against fellow conservatives boggles the mind a bit.
I don’t know if the dear lady is off her meds, but she seems like she’s having a blogger-ific public meltdown. It looks pretty silly for a Jewish woman to call a bunch of Jews like Mark Levin and Dennis Prager antisemetic based on nothing resembling serious evidence.
Watching this catfight between bloggers is just… sad. It’s one thing if I am bickering with a liberal or libertarian, as we’re supposed to argue points, but to see two people allegedly on the same side sniping… Sad. Corporate “Consciousness” – A Fairy Tale And A Scam
If you’re like me, you might enjoy a cup of Starbucks’ coffee on a regular basis. My brother-in-law tells people that if they’d be interested in assassinating me, they simply need to be on the roof of the building across the street from the neighborhood Starbucks at precisely 7:00 am on any given morning. All jokes aside (I think?), I can’t help but to be “bombarded” by literature on Starbucks’ “Social Responsibility” program each time I visit. This kind of thing, more often referred to as corporate “sustainability” in the business environment, is becoming commonplace in today’s competitive consumer markets.
Starbucks has never been known to market a “cheap” cup of coffee. Granted, what we’re ultimately paying for is the right to carry a cup with a globally-recognized logo that grants us some sort of status. Having this cup in our hands tells the world we are aligned with the “good” side of the social world. Or, does it?

It featured the work of a young John Hurt, as well as the magnificent talents of Derek Jacobi, Siân Phillips and Brian Blessed.
For those of you who want a trip down memory lane, there are a few episodes posted at YouKu.com.

New Blood Draws Out The Old Blood
First Sting, then PG, then Andre. When will we hear from E The Wise, DFV The Scribe, Wes The Bitter and all the rest?
Bravo Dave! Way to reinvigorate the Blog, and Bravo Newbies for giving the rest of us a reason to post!
On Bloggers and Journalists
No cross-post for this one, folks.
Scott Rosenberg of Idea Lab criticizes, rightly, journalists who are so thin-skinned as to not be able to handle a bit of criticism. Clark Hoyt of the New York Times was very critical of writers at the Grey Lady for now being able to deal with public criticism, but this is not a criticism one can place solely on the feet of the Left. TownHall columnists Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Prager, both of whose work I enjoy immensely, do not allow comments on their websites, and they have both introduced paid memberships to sites where people can comment freely without having to deal with trolls interfereing. Unfortunately, you end up with like minds and no criticism, something that doesn’t make for good journalism.
On the blog side, Jeff Bercovici is tired of bloggers being referred to as bums who wear pajamas. I agree. I took the time to shower and get dressed in order to post this.
Space for reflection: José Saramago, 1922-2010

Police: Iraqi interpreter for US Army killed
Let us not forget that it is not only American and allied forces who risk their lives in Iraq. Those who wish to help us risk the scorn of their own families. In this case, an interpreter was murdered by his son and nephew for not quitting his job helping Americans.

Don’t Stop Special Ops: Karzai Sides with Taliban–Again
Let us face facts. We have no ally in Afghanistan. We have a whore who will sell his rump to the highest bidder, and keep playing the game against both camps. One of the greatest tragedies Afghanistan ever faced happened on September 10, 2001, when Ahmad Shah Masood, an honorable ban who was sure to end up leading the country, was assassinated by Taliban posing as an interview crew. I would have rather seen Abdullah Abdullah win the last election cycle, but the Afghan people now get to taste the fruits, bitter and otherwise, of their decisions.
Ralph Peters lambastes the fool running Afghanistan in an article posted at Real Clear Politics.

Dave’s Quote of the Day
“You have to lift their skirts to find out if they are women. You sure can’t find out by how they vote.”
-Rep. Janis Baird Sontany, D-Nashville referencing her Republican women colleagues.
As if having a vagina should automatically turn you into some sort of pantsuit wearing, baby-wackin’, nanny state socialist. At least Republican women actually wear skirts sometimes which I count as a plus. And conversely, does this make her male Democratic colleagues a bunch of limp-wristed neuters who should have their trousers removed for a genital inspection because they ”vote like a woman” in her twisted view of the world? What a wench.
Wow! Republican apologizes and then…….
… is asked to step down via another Repub FOR apologizing.
Wait. Okay, so why? Why, did Joe Barton (R-TX) apologize to BP? If you heard the back and forth, you would know Barton was apologizing to BP CEO concerning what Obama was doing to the company and that it is a shake down. But you can watch and be the judge.
What is beyond the scope of normal. Boehner doesn’t back Barton and a Republican Senator Jeff Miller is asking for him to step DOWN? Give me a break… stop going after each other Republicans. No wonder conservatives don’t want to be associated with GOP or Beltway Repubs.
But then you have Waxman (D-CA) accusing BP for stonewalling, or kicking the can down the road. WOuldn’t that be the head of the Federal Government who was kicking a can? Working with the EPA and telling the EPA that the BP strategies weren’t good enough and the dispersant used was going to harm animals. Guess what.. it isn’t harming anything.
So who is at fault? You make the call now.
You Know You’re Getting Old When…
..you stop at a convenience store and you don’t know what half the stuff on the counter is and you can’t even guess what it’s for.
And we’re not talking about novelty items – everybody know what they’re for. Last year the Beast’s local Kwik-E-Mart sprouted a box of tequila flavored lollipops with an actual worm inside it. The Beast asked the counter guy “Why the hell would anybody buy this?” The counter guy shrugged his tattooed shoulders and said “People think they’re funny, actually we’ve sold a box of them so far.”

Article Roundup for June 16, 2010
The daily spread. Enjoy your reading, friends:
New tape reveals al-Qaida’s finance worries – By Robert Windrem, MSNBC. Are we supposed to feel sorry for these dirtbags? Oh, yeah, consider the source. Silly me.
Smearing Republican Women – By Brent Bozell, TownHall.com. What is it with our political opposites? Can they not refrain from insulting normal people, especially women? It shows how sick and vile the Democratic Party has become when one reads the tripe passing for political argument emanating from their side.

Hiding Conservative
Being conservative in California is like hiding in a closet. If you dare to state your views, you will be blackballed or called a racist. Any comments from you guys on your experiences would be appreciated. I use to be a Democrat; it was way easier. Friends were abundant, family supportive, but now that the tides have changed I am feeling like it is a sin to be conservative since liberalism is the new religion.
Divorcee David Denies Warming Gore’s Globes
The headline wrote itself.
From US News And World Report:
Laurie David Al Gore Affair Denial – When the split of Al and Tipper Gore was first announced, it was said that the two had reached a mutual decision without too many details of the split being made public. They had almost made it sound as if they had just grown apart, or were too busy to spend quality time with one another. Now, more intimate details regarding the split have made their way online in recent days and paint a clearer picture of the reasons behind their separation.
The two had been married for 40 years, but the marriage fell apart after Tipper Gore made a habit out of jealous rages, claiming that Al Gore had been having an affair with Hollywood producer Laurie David, the ex-wife of comedian Larry David.
A source said that while there has never been any evidence to support her claims, she had led herself to believe the worst, and had convinced herself that Al Gore was having an affair. She reportedly believed that something more than she knew was going on between Al and the many woman that he was around on a daily basis.
She reportedly became enraged with speculation, and the two of them were no longer able to find it in their hearts to remain together. They first met in 1965, and married five years later.
As Al himself might say: “Where there’s smoke there’s man-caused warming!”
Behold Begala: Sole “Pump” In A Sea Of “Suck”
The Beast awakes every day unfit for human company. He spends an hour drinking coffee, reading the news on the computer and growling at anybody who gets too close. Today the news was dominated by Obama’s less-than-inspiring inspirational speech on the Gulf Oil Spill.
A quick scan of Real Clear Politics showed that even reliable libs weren’t impressed. All, that is, but one.
Here’s a screen shot – see if you can figure out where the oddball is…

Escrow on Leasing land for States and their people? Oil Companies may say no.
So when did just BP have to do an escrow fund? I have a feeling it will go to all oil companies off shore drilling or if they are drilling on BLM land.
Okay before we go there… let me explain MMS (Mineral Management Service) and BLM (Bureau of Land Management) under the DOI (Dept. of the Interior). MMS is ONLY for Offshore items. BLM is ONLY for Onshore items. When you drill offshore, you talk to the MMS but if you are drilling onshore you talk to the BLM… the DOI is just the head grand Pooh-Bah of the two. Are you with me yet?
Time to start giving everyone answers on the Horizon in the coming weeks.
I don’t know about you but this oil “Katrina” that Obama has seemed to prolong is becoming more and more of a undertaking of what we the American people are looking to each other to deal with and more or less telling the Federal Government to go F themselves.

A fellow ‘Summit Tiger’
As is becoming fairly obvious Conclub has decided to add some depth by bringing in an array of new talent, new blood, and new perspective into its blogging ranks. So far the results have been well-received and brought a bit of renewed energy, posting frequency, and focus to the blog as well as helping to re-energize the old timers.
As a member of the class of ’89 it has been at least ten years, and in some cases over twenty, since I have seen most of my old classmates. But through the modern miracle of social networking (specifically facebook) I have reconnected with a large number of old friends and classmates. One of those is a product of the University of Houston with a business background who many years ago was a fellow Summit Tiger with yours truly at Summit high school in Frisco, Co. I have enjoyed getting back in touch with Todd and talking politics and current events with him. And today I am pleased to announce that he has decided to give this whole blogging thing a shot with the fine folks here at Conclub. Welcome aboard, Todd.

Here are some articles worth reading today:
The Myth of Iran’s ‘Isolation’ – By Charles Krauthammer. Iran is not, and has never been isolated. They are aided by thugs like China and North Korea and idiots like Brazil and Turkey. This is why the sanctions are a laughable ruse, meant to placate the effeminate losers at the United Nations.
Elton John, Egypt, and Rush Limbaugh Reveal Liberal Hypocrisy – By Deroy Murdock. Liberals show off their broken moral compass in having a hissy fit when Elton John performs for Rush Limbaugh, yet says nothing about John’s being unable to perform in Egypt thanks Mounir al-Wasimi, boss of the Egyptian Musicians’ Union, who isn’t keen on letting people light on their loafers performing in that most holy and incorruptible country. Hypocrites everywhere, I’m afraid.
Who Lost Turkey? – By Daniel Pipes. Turkey used to be a friend of Israel. They were marginally okay with us, though, during the Iraq war, they were a pain in the rear, blocking our entry into Iraq from the northern flank, which would have made the war end much quicker. Turkey is now lead by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who openly supports Islamism. He has become a threat to Turkish democracy, so much so that one may want to watch their military to see if a coup is coming down the road.
Our view on foreign policy: On Iran, it’s time to weigh what comes after sanctions – USA Today Editorial Board. The time for talking is done. Consider that Iran will send a flotilla to Israel in order to provoke a confrontation. I say it’s high time that Israel finally call Iran’s bluff.
International protest groups take up ‘Tea Party’ flag in Moscow, Tel Aviv and the Hague – By Kyle Peterson, The Daily Caller. Could it be? Russia, The Netherlands and Israel having Tea Parties? If there was ever a gift America could give the world, it’s the spark to break the shackles of oppression of years of moronic Socialist oppression.

Obama’s Speech on the Oil Spill – Full Text
Riddled with half-truths, misstatements, and some claim even outright lies, but here it is for the reader to decide. Perhaps the most blatantly untrue assertion was the statement “And that’s part of the reason oil companies are drilling a mile beneath the surface of the ocean — because we’re running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water.” Even the most ignorant of dullards can tell you that isn’t true. The truth is we have a plentiful amount oil both on land and in shallow water but they aren’t allowed to drill to access those vast deposits. Instead they are forced to undertake the far more dangerous drilling practices that helped lead up to this disaster in the gulf. Almost all agree though that the speech was a dud.
“Good evening. As we speak, our nation faces a multitude of challenges. At home, our top priority is to recover and rebuild from a recession that has touched the lives of nearly every American. Abroad, our brave men and women in uniform are taking the fight to al Qaeda wherever it exists. And tonight, I’ve returned from a trip to the Gulf Coast to speak with you about the battle we’re waging against an oil spill that is assaulting our shores and our citizens.
Ways Violence and Nonviolence Affects my Daily Life
“I hear people say we don’t need this war. I say there are some things worth fighting for. What about our freedom and this piece of ground? We didn’t get to keep them by backing down. They say we don’t realize the mess we’re getting in but before you start your preaching let me ask you this, my friend. Have you forgotten how it felt that day to see your homeland under fire and our people blown away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell we had neighbors still inside going through a living hell? You say we shouldn’t worry about Bin Laden. Have you forgotten?”
These song lyrics by Daryl Worley are pretty powerful. When listening to his song it takes me back to that fateful day in 2001 staring through tears at the television images while I cuddled and nursed my two-week old son. I had just given birth to my second child and was on maternity leave from my police force I served for nearly ten years. Violence in my world was constant and brutal. Yet, the September 11 television images of our country being attacked were nothing in comparison to what I investigated as a police detective.
9.11.01. That was the day that changed me internally. It changed me politically, as a parent, as a woman, and as an American.

Congresscritter Attacks Student
The Dems are feeling the strain of all that failure in DC, apparently. Representative Bob Etheridge (D – NC) didn’t seem too happy to be asked “Do you fully support the Obama agenda” and threw down on a group of kids right there on the street.
This is a Dem so nothing will come of it, the MSM will remain relentlessly disinterested, but it shows they’re cracking.
Could Afghanistan be the new mineral Saudi Arabi? You don’t say!

I can see it actually. India has a large volume of minerals themselves and they are neighbors with the warring nation.

Monday Morning Book Quote
This comes from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s hilarious fantasy novel “Good Omens”. The topic is the witch panic that gripped Europe in the seventeenth century:

“The English, by and large, being a crass and indolent race, were not as keen on burning women as other countries in Europe. In Germany the bonfires were built and burned with regular Teutonic thoroughness. Even the pious Scots, locked throughout history in a long-drawn-out battle with their arch-enemies the Scots, managed a few burnings to while away the long winter evenings. But the English never seemed to have the heart for it.”
“Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned…”

“…Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.” – William Congreve, The Mourning Bride
Obama has lost Maureen Dowd. Can the rest of the MSM be far behind?
Losing my Religion
I am upset that the new religion, liberalism, is changing the value system I grew up with that was Judeo-Christian. Liberalism is affecting America’s core belief system in favor of feel good politics and political correctness. I am worried that the anti-God belief system that the secular-left is promoting will undermine the collectiveness and strength of our union. “One nation under God” is one of the core tenets of the American Constitution. When that core value is undermined, we lose our sense of self (country) and without a self, our country is scattered, shooting off in different directions leading to anarchy and eventual destruction. Rome comes to mind.
Saudi Arabia gives Israel clear skies to attack Iranian nuclear sites
If one doesn’t bother trying to put the pieces of the puzzle that is the Middle East together, one would find the headline counterintuitive. One should read history and learn the theological ties that bind the region. Saudi Arabia considers Israel little more than an irritant and a tool they can use to whip their citizens up into a frenzy in order to cover for their own criminal incompetence. Iran, however, scares the bejeezus out of them because the mullahcracy is nearing having nuclear arms. There is no love lost between Sunni and Shia Muslims, despite occasionally collaborating in levels for mutual benefit. If Saudi Arabia falls, and they well could to a well-armed Iran, that would give Ahmadinejad and the turbaned terrors massive control of a large part of the world’s oil supply. Hence, it is in the best interests of Saudi Arabia that Israel do the dirty deed of obliterating Iran before she gets too big for her britches.

Exclusive footage gives rare insight into life in al Qaeda insurgency
Given how grotesquely liberal and crappy the BBC News was when I lived overseas, I wasn’t feeling too keen on giving France24 the time of day. Let’s face it; thanks to toads like Jacques Chirac, a lot of my fellow Americans, expatriates included, considered the French to be, as that lovely sorbiquet goes… ‘Cheese-eating surrender monkeys‘. With the exception of Parisians, who are hopelessly rude, I wish to not only NOT bag on our Gallic friends, but give them kudos for some decent reporting. France24 hosted a round-table of sorts on video shot in North Africa of jihadis training, frolicking like Bambi and Thumper in the woods, et cetera. On the panel was Walid Phares, one of the sanest voices in terms of analyzing terrorism. The last time Europe had news TV worth watching was when Tim Sebastian was hosting HARDTalk. This channel may turn out to be worth watching.

Prominent Democrat Rising Star Al Green On Olbermann
Pity the poor Dems. Fresh off the South Carolina primary election, the best candidate they could come up with to unseat Jim DeMint in the senate is an unemployed, 32 year old veteran with pending felony pornography charges against him.
Now, it’s not unusual for fringe candidates to run in an election and it’s certainly not unusual for crooks to get the nod in Dem primaries (in some states it’s typical), but they seldom win unless it’s Illinois. However, this result is so jarringly inappropriate that even the Dems are shocked.
Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) is so outraged he’s calling for an investigation, suggesting Mr. Green is a GOP plant. Clyburn wants to know how this man came up with the $10,00 filing fee.
What’s really funny about this flap isn’t the fact that a clearly inappropriate and unqualified candidate runs for an office – we’ve all seen that before, haven’t we? What makes this affair so toothsome is that South Carolina Democrats actually elected this guy to run for the Senate and who gets blamed? Republicans!
Is there anything that goes wrong for Democrats that can’t be ultimately lain at the feet of the GOP?
Obviously Republicans must be to blame because SC voters can’t claim to have been bamboozled by Mr. Green’s mesmerizing verbal virtuosity. Keith Olbermann tries to milk some sort of coherence out of the man in this interview, but it’s like dancing the Tango with a “Keep Left” sign. Watch as much of this as you can stand and you’ll see:
So there must be skullduggery at work. The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy™ somehow colluded to put a nut on the Dem ballot and then beamed mind control waves all over the state to force Dem voters to elect the guy. Maybe they swiped the machinery from the Obama campaign, who knows?
