Egypt protests show George W. Bush was right about freedom in the Arab world
Elliott Abrams posts an excellent apologia for George W. Bush’s Middle East policy at the Washington Post. It is rather shocking to see even people like Chris Matthews begin to admit that Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing and that Dubya may just have been right. This happens when grotesque ideological blinkers are removed.

Bush did irreparable damage to American ME policy when he toppled the Saddam Regime, replacing a Sunni, secular, violently anti-Iranian autocrat with a weak pro Iranian Shiite puppet state. He made it even worst by pushing for elections in Gaza, more or less handing power over to Hamas. Part of an overall moronic belief that Democracy is somehow good for the US in the ME.
Both of these actions strengthened Iran immensely and what was once the only Shiite controlled state in the ME, is now a regional power with Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, and now Egypt following Gaza into the Iranian axis. Bush did more damage to US foreign interests than any President since Jimmy Carter.
Stop policing the world, Egyptians have right to choose their leader and political system suitable to them, not what suits Israel, USA or Europe. Let democracy flourish, stop supporting dicators.
