Trump Delivers F Word Laced Speech

Lost in the Meritocracy

Within the next three weeks, I will be returning to the Republic of Macedonia, where I once lived comfortably.  I will be returning to teach in a place where teachers were once prized and respected, much like here in America (once).  Thanks to the wonders of technology, I’ll be able to do my work via an American company, making an adequate living via laptop, as the whole curriculum is based inside of a webpage and FTP servers.  Quite nice, actually!

It came as a sad and disturbing shock to see how bad good teachers are being treated.  Take the example of ‘Professor X’, whom Caleb Crain of the New York Times writes on.  A man who is frustrated watching good people, older, struggling to retool their careers after this economic meltdown.  Though he had sympathy for his suffering students, it was obvious to him how poorly-educated they were.  His detractors offer the sort of retorts one would expect at a MoveOn.org-funded event.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those simpletons were among the students X has had to suffer with.

Not Spending Mortgages Our Future: Obama

Not Spending Money Is Mortgaging America’s Future, Obama Says

Let’s see: The Prez says not spending money he has to borrow since he has spent all our money already would be mortgaging America’s future. Which he is mortgaging already by borrowing the money to spend. Well, except when he’s just printing it.

So if he doesn’t spend our future is mortgaged…and if he spends, he has to mortgage our future to get the money. Right. Maybe the teleprompter did it?

“Private” Industry Works For Obama Now…

http://www.businessinsider.com/the-biggest-us-economic-story-of-the-year-federal-government-v-boeing-2011-4

The Feds grabbed the automakers and bought the banks, insurers and investment houses (with borrowed money we get to repay, with interest); they just moved to fire a drug CEO and now they’re deciding where Boeing will make its products.

Shouldn’t we hold a contest or something? We obviously need a replacement for the old, clearly obsolete term: “Private Industry.”

Gary Johnson tosses hat.

Former governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson has announced that he is running for president. He is a fiscal conservative and social moderate. He thinks that the money and resources spent on questionable wars would be better spentic domestically, he is for legalization of marijuana and amnesty for illegals. His fiscal responsibility seems sincere enough and that is what we really need. He ought to downplay the drug legalization and amnesty issues if he is going to be a contender. I do predict that he will do better than Ron Paul who I think will do better than he did last time around.

WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS KIND OF SILLINESS!

From Meredith Jessup comes this obervation:

“We don’t have time for this kind of silliness,” President Obama exclaimed this morning. Forget the birth certificate “distraction” and focus on what’s really important!

Let’s address the budget deficit. Let‘s discuss the three wars we’re fighting. Let’s fly to Chicago to tape an episode of Oprah and then jet to New York for three DNC political fundraising events today!

Phew! Glad we’re all focusing on the ”important” things now…

Oil and Gas Don’t Cost Enough Yet?

http://www.businessinsider.com/obama-oil-gas-tax-breaks-2011-4

In the linked story, President Obama and Republican John Boehner agree that oil and gas producers should pay more taxes, which of course, will be passed on to consumers in their pricing.

The President has just finished saying that he isn’t responsible for the high gas prices; evidently, that was an apology and he is trying to make amends…

Nationalization of “Private” Industry Continues

U.S. Effort to Remove Drug CEO Jolts Firms

We know the President can take over such as GM, dispose of such as Chrysler and give boatloads of our money to any bank, insurer or investment house he pleases. We know he can fire the CEO’s of any of those. Now, it seems he can just fire the CEO of any supposedly privately owned outfit. If the Wall Street Journal story linked above settles out as illustrated, the bosses of U.S. commerce serve at the pleasure of the President, not the stockholders.

Wanna buy some stocks? Oh; and what does this say about “private” property?

Dave’s Quote of the Day

President Obama failed to release a statement or a proclamation recognizing the national observance of Easter Sunday, Christianity’s most sacred holiday.

By comparison, the White House has released statements recognizing the observance of major Muslim holidays and released statements in 2010 on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha.

The White House also failed to release a statement marking Good Friday. However, they did release an eight-paragraph statement heralding Earth Day. Likewise, the president’s weekend address mentioned neither Good Friday or Easter.

ICatching, IPopping, ITracking

This past week the tech world (and consumers in general) were shocked! Shocked to find tracking going on underneath the hood of the IPhone.  And yet, locked into that 2 year contract, it became nothing more than a “really?  Oh that’s not good.”

Wired magazine had an interesting take on the subject – writing about a shared concern that crossed my mind.  Less Terminator, more Minority Report – but still a concern.

YOUNG CHILDREN SING “BOYCOTT BIG BUSINESS” IN EARTH DAY RAP

“Recycle, bicycle, don’t drive by yourself / don’t buy those plastic products on the supermarket shelf“ and ”Boycott, petition, let the big business know / that if we mess it up here, there’s no else we can go.”

How sweet and innocent. In an article posted yesterday, I wrote about the pervasive campaign by the left to co-opt America’s children.  And today? Same topic, new rap song.

Check out this video of young children singing an “Earth Day song” at the Riverwood Elementary School in Tennessee. As I said yesterday, it’s time to wise up America.

Islamist Militancy in a Pre- and Post-Saleh Yemen

Yemen is not talked about so much in the news these days, but this will be a pivotal battleground between Sunni and Shia ideologies.  Saleh was a run-of-the-mill third-rate Socialist, and no one will miss him but his cronies.  However, Al Qaeda is active in the area, and if the establish a strong beachhead here, there will be problems, most assuredly.

Impressive Young Patriot, Tricia Willoughby

It’s kids like this who give me hope for the future. Here is 14 year old Tricia Willoughby, speaking at the Madison Wisconsin Tea Party last week. She has more poise and conviction than someone twice her age and then some, and looky– no teleprompter!

Sure hope this isn’t the last we see of her, and that she maintains that passion.

She’ll certainly be vilified by the left for the rest of her life from this point forward, as has already been reported here.

Restore Glass-Steagall Act (or some of it)

We all know about Fannie and Freddie and how their shenanigans contributed to the current meltdown despite the warnings.

Now, I like deregulation as much as the next guy, but some of the regulations were a natural and wise response to markets gone awry. Case in point: the Glass-Steagall Act.
The act was partially deregulated under Ronaldus Magnus but in 1999, the Republican congress with the aid of President Clinton tore down the wall between investment and commercial banking. This also contributed to the fine mess we’re in.
Here are One or Two interesting articles on the matter.

Finally, A Cabinet Secretary Concerned For Citizens

Democrats’ Solution to Unemployment

While the feds and states continue to grapple with economic problems, a Congressman blamed iPod for our problems, Pelosi is coming loose, and Obama is aping socialist thought.  But we finally have someone doing something about jobs. The local city councilman is concerned not just about helping the unemployed, but is pushing to rehabilitate criminals.

Pittsburgh City Councilman Ricky Burgess introduced legislation that would make it easier for persons with a criminal record to be hired by the city. “Most of those with a criminal record are Democrats,” Burgess observed. “Should we really be penalizing our own constituency by excluding them from working for the city?”

Finally, a Democrat with a heart but what about the mind?  I love such honesty.

How’s This For Growth, You Dipsh*ts?

Oh, yeah… “We’re all about promoting economic growth and job creation!” You Dems aren’t fooling anyone! When the financial experts (Standard & Poor’s) say you’re out of line, you can no longer blame “bi-partisan” crap, can you?  Your reckless spending is taking this country down the drain! Wake up!

House Republicans Move to Push Derivatives Rules to 2012

It is always nice to see politicians actually doing the right thing. Good for the House Republicans! Anyone with any sense knows derivatives require no government regulation. Simply put, if the investments are too difficult for you to understand, you need not get involved. Do your own homework and don’t look to a group of non-financial lawmakers to save you from yourself!  My only hope is that they continue to “push” the rules right off of the table!

Whitewashing the U.N.

Susan Rice turned out to be the perfect choice for Ambassador to the United Nations. She feels utterly at home there, singing the praises of an utterly failed and morally bankrupt organization who we, as a nation, were foolish enough to sub-contract our national security to in many dangerous issues (Iran and their nuclear program topping the heap). I miss John Bolton’s presence in that chair. Anne Bayefsky of National Review Online lays out the case against Ambassador Rice. Audio is included at the link.

Eurosceptic ‘True Finns’ shatter the old consensus

Euroscepticism is seen as a bit of a crime by those who support the regime in Brussels.  What’s to fear?  Well for an American reference, something like what we’re seeing in the United States under the current leadership.  Magnified several times.  Scary?  I thought so.

The Guardian, Britain’s leftist paper of record, writes on the rise of the ‘True Finns’, with subtle hints of them suffering from paranoia and xenophobia.  No surprise if one considers the source.

The Disingenuous Misadventures of Barack Obama

Dave’s Quote of the Day

Using numbers from the U.S. Treasury, we see that the debt during Bush’s eight years in office increased from $5.7 trillion to $10.6 trillion, or $4.9 trillion over eight years. That’s bad; that’s basically $610 billion per year. But in the less than three years Obama has been in office, the debt has increased from $10.6 trillion to $14.2 trillion, a $3.6 trillion increase in about 27 months.  In other words, Obama is increasing the debt by $1.6 trillion per year, three times as fast as Bush.

Obama $1 Trillion Tax Proposal Slams Into Republican Wall

Dave’s Quote of the Day

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is “needed” before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents’ “interests,” I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can.
