The American Dream! Now that small phrase sounds good. The American Dream. I remember the first time I hear it. A politician was running for office and he was promising to furnish, if elected, the great American Dream. His political opponent’s answer was, his American dream is a chicken in very pot and a [...]

Dave’s Quote of the Day
“I know some of you are concerned about when the Navy SEALs raided Osama’s compound, whether he was then shot in the face in accordance with Islamic tradition. Well, don’t worry; he absolutely was. The very last thing anyone wanted was for Osama to think while he was being killed, ‘They’re doing this to me because I’m Muslim!’ Because, again, that would definitely not be true. So great care was taken, and he was shot in the face in a religiously respectful way. For instance, none of the Navy SEALs in the raid were eating a pork sandwich as they did it. And none of them had on them any depictions of Muhammad (PBUH). Also, the raid was done between prayer times — not during! And when Osama was shot in the face, he was facing westward. I’m not sure that’s actually religiously important, but if it is, then, yes, he was doing that. And when he was shot, the traditional Muslim expression of ‘Allahu Akbar!’ was shouted  except it was an English translation, so it was something like, ‘Thank you, Jesus!’”

The Middle Class – Part III
May 9
My last post in this space demonstrated that the Middle Class in America has gotten larger, not smaller, over time. I made the point that more and more people are making more and more money even as we keep the dollar values locked into 2008 values: In 1967 [earliest data available] 83.7% of the families [...]
Teach Our Children Well?
May 9

If it is any wonder why several young adults and minors are filing federal and state lawsuits to promote the legal theory that government is failing in its duties to protect “Nature’s Trust”, the reasons are only a few clicks away. Just search “children” and “climate change” and enjoy the tour of sites dedicated to [...]
A Gaseous Situation
May 9
Perhaps we are learning of a first of its kind. At least my quick perusals of Google did not reveal any previous episode of this nature nor magnitude. A patient was admitted to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was admitted for ingesting mole poison (rodent poison). It appears that he began some sort [...]
Remembering Those in Chains
May 9
Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl of Sun Valley, Idaho went missing on June 30, 2009 in Paktika Province, Afghanistan. He is currently being held in an unknown location, possibly moved to Ghazni Province or smuggled across the border to Pakistan making the logistics of rescue even more difficult. The Taliban has released several videos where [...]
THOSE PEACE-LOVING MUSLIMS ARE AT IT AGAIN
May 8
Muslim mobs burn Egyptian churches, killing 12 and injuring hundreds With the ink barely dry on Hosni Mubarak’s resignation letter, angry Muslim mobs set fire to two Cairo churches over the weekend, as attacks against Egypt’s Christians intensified. The escalating violence left 12 dead and more than 200 injured. So much for the New Egypt. [...]

Our Children, the Climate Change Plaintiffs
The regulatory aims of the EPA to curb CO2 emissions; the continued push for carbon cap and trade legislation; and, the ongoing attempts by the international body politic to arrive at an operating framework to address climate change, all of these are now joined by our children’s efforts to get the judiciary to act to protect the planet. Well, maybe not your child or mine, but some youths throughout the country are now plaintiffs in various lawfare battles intended to obtain from the courts what climate change activists cannot seem to accomplish through the legislative and regulatory processes. 6 Common Misconceptions About Evolution
May 7
There are certain falsehoods about evolution that are surprisingly wide spread among both creationists and believers in evolution. The goal of this article is not to argue for or against evolution, but rather to dispel certain myths that both sides often fall for when debating the issues. Hopefully, this will result in better and more [...]
2012: The Birth Certificate, Bin Laden and What’s Next?
May 7
If being about to hang concentrates the human mind, facing elections seems equally productive for politicians. Our Captain Preppie has been in full campaign mode for weeks now; releasing his at least, alleged birth document to head off the distracting concern over his right to run and suddenly discovering Bin Laden’s whereabouts plus a means to get [...]

And we thought these guys couldn’t get any crazier? While we’re all too familiar with the loony antics of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the zealotry of the ayatollahs, things have taken an extra screwy turn for the nut jobs in Iran. I know, you didn’t think these clowns could get any crazier. Me neither. All is not well [...]
Earth Day Idiots Exposed
I know Earth Day has come and gone but this is just too good to not share. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that conservation and ‘wise use’ of resources is a good thing, but environmentalism is a dangerous ideology. It’s truly a watermelon belief system. Green on the outside but Red on the inside. This is what happens when you put the earth above all else.
SEMI-NEWS: A Satirical Look at Recent News

by John Semmens – President Almost Single-Handedly Kills bin Laden Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda mastermind of the 9-11 attack on America, was slain at his hideout in Pakistan last weekend by the incredibly brave and gutsy US President Barack Obama’s timely action. Admittedly, others may have played minor supporting roles. Interrogators working under former President [...]

Promise I’ll Stop After This But – More Praise for President Obama
Enough already, I know. But I get a kick out of the Tribal Update. I didn’t catch it at www.latma.co.il because it hadn’t yet hit the English site and my Hebrew isn’t what it should be so, I missed this one on the original language site. But one of the Jawas was kind enough to post it after it hit YouTube. Thought I should share -
Bin Laden’s Funeral at Sea
The President provided Bin Laden appropriate Moslem last rites at sea. Why? Bin Laden wasn’t concerned with last rites for the 3 thousand plus victims he murdered. If Obama wants to look good to Muslims, why doesn’t he care what his American non-Muslim constituents think?
We keep hearing that Bin Laden did not represent the “Religion of Peace” that is Islam. If he did not, he wasn’t entitiled to the recognition of its last rites. His singling out for that ceremony says that he did represent Islam and deserved such recognition. That means, Islam is no “Religion of Peace” and Bin Laden’s was a justified attack. You can’t have it both ways.
If Bin Laden was no representative of Islam and his attack on helpless and innocent people was unjustified, then he was evil, deserved no such confusing consideration and should have been tossed into the sea like the dog he was. That he was not, accepts the righteousness of his cause by our leader.

The Real War on Women
May 5
Of late, various Americans have opined that there is a war on women. Usually, this claim is made when funding to Planned Parenthood operations is on the federal budget table or when peer reviewed medical studies are released that conclude that now routine testing is not necessary for female specific diseases. Along these lines, one [...]
Will Sasso Locked As Curly In Farrely Bros. ‘The Three Stooges’
There’s going to be a Three Stooges Movie? That could be either bad or good depending on the cast. One encouraging development, MADtv Alum Will Sasso as Curly.
The Beast never heard of this Will Sasso guy, but he’s a dead ringer for Curly, and a talented comic. Witness his perfect take as Tony Soprano:
“We Ain’t Got No Gabbagool!”
Not bad.
“What indeed has Athens to do with Jerusalem?”
Tertullian asked this question sometime during the 3rd Century and has been often quoted in both the study of early Christianity and religious philosophy. Though his inquiry relates to conditions within the Church during his time, particularly the Hellenization of Christian thought, at its very heart, his question regards whether it is appropriate to apply reason to faith. Since recently reading The Rat’s article “Why Do Atheists Ridicule Christianity?”, posted at The ConClub, I thought I would take some liberties with Tertullian’s quote to offer at least one possible explanation. Hmmm, Do I “Want to Believe?”
I have to admit, I read some of the early Ulsterman articles. Have you?
I should clarify though, I’ve always thought his articles only represented a clever fiction. The unknown author, the unidentified DC insider, the high level of information covering a broad spectrum partisan politics that cannot be confirmed, all of it screams fantasy. However, I have to wonder if it is possible that a political fiction, presented in Ulsterman’s Deep Throat style of outing interesting insider information, could end up proving prescient. May 4

“RELIGION SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RIDICULE, HATRED AND CONTEMPT” Atheism, or “antitheism,” which was once considered taboo in America, has become mainstream in today’s society; books like Christopher Hitchens’s God Is Not Great, Richard Dawkins’s The God Delusion, and Sam Harris’s The End of Faith have all become New York Times bestsellers. Faith-bashing films, such as Bill Maher’s Religulous and Ricky [...]

For the first time in over 10 years, crowds of Americans are waving flags and singing the Star Spangled Banner, celebrating an American victory – the death of bin Laden. Who’d a thunk? Was Pakistan Sheltering Osama Bin Laden?
May 2
It is doubtful the American public will ever know the real story behind the killing of the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. The details of the operation are likely to be shrouded by layers of secrecy for decades to come. However, even the most casual assessment of what transpired suggests that the government of Pakistan, [...]
What Follows Osama’s End?
A fading symbol of murdering innocents as Jihad is himself killed by an illegal alien death squad. Now, what?
Will the President of Mexico send commandos into Washington, DC after his most-wanted? Why not, the precedent is set, isn’t it?
And what did President Obama pay Pakistan to permit this that George Bush wasn’t willing to pay? Obama clearly needed something to crow about; in his time, so did Bush. But Bush didn’t try to buy it this way.
Finally, Bin Laden was the excuse for invading Afghanistan; now we can bring the kids home, right?
Osama was bad news and his death improves the world but he was old news; the handling of these and other effects that have followed him are now what matters.

Chap Hop
Just for fun…
Courtesy of Wired, I’ve discovered a new genre of music–chap hop, which is hip hop reimagined as the pastime of bored English gentlemen. Here’s one of the original works, by Mr. B (aka the Gentleman Rhymer) with his send-up of NWA, “Straight Out of Surrey”:
And the response to it by Professor Elemental:
Carry on.
NATO on defensive over strikes close to Gadhafi

NATO have given a picture-perfect representation as to why they cannot and should never have been trusted in leading air raids against Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi’s government.
That they would begin to cower from people like China, Russia and Brazil (the first two are utter Human Rights abusers, and in Brazil, they indigenous community may have some unflattering words for the central government in Brasilia) shows that they have neither the spine nor the stomach to finish off Gadhafi.
It is far better that they pack their bags and go home rather than try to impress fellow Euro-weenies and play soldier.
Are Americans Tolerant?
May 1
It is amusing that protesters claim Americans are not tolerant. Especially so when the protesters are Muslim, it is quite ironic. The question is are Americans intolerant or do the Muslims use the term as a smoke screen. You can decide for yourself, but it is clearly a smoke screen to transfer the Muslim intolerance [...]
