The American Dream

Dave’s Quote of the Day

“I know some of you are concerned about when the Navy SEALs raided Osama’s compound, whether he was then shot in the face in accordance with Islamic tradition. Well, don’t worry; he absolutely was. The very last thing anyone wanted was for Osama to think while he was being killed, ‘They’re doing this to me because I’m Muslim!’ Because, again, that would definitely not be true. So great care was taken, and he was shot in the face in a religiously respectful way. For instance, none of the Navy SEALs in the raid were eating a pork sandwich as they did it. And none of them had on them any depictions of Muhammad (PBUH). Also, the raid was done between prayer times — not during! And when Osama was shot in the face, he was facing westward. I’m not sure that’s actually religiously important, but if it is, then, yes, he was doing that. And when he was shot, the traditional Muslim expression of ‘Allahu Akbar!’ was shouted — except it was an English translation, so it was something like, ‘Thank you, Jesus!’”

Our Children, the Climate Change Plaintiffs

The regulatory aims of the EPA to curb CO2 emissions;  the continued push for carbon cap and trade legislation;  and, the ongoing attempts by the international body politic to arrive at an operating framework to address climate change, all of these are now joined by our children’s efforts to get the judiciary to act to protect the planet.   Well, maybe not your child or mine, but some youths throughout the country are now plaintiffs in various lawfare battles intended to obtain from the courts what climate change activists cannot seem to accomplish through the legislative and regulatory processes.       Read the rest of this entry

I know Earth Day has come and gone but this is just too good to not share. Bin Laden’s Funeral at Sea

The President provided Bin Laden appropriate Moslem last rites at sea. Why? Bin Laden wasn’t concerned with last rites for the 3 thousand plus victims he murdered. If Obama wants to look good to Muslims, why doesn’t he care what his American non-Muslim constituents think?

We keep hearing that Bin Laden did not represent the “Religion of Peace” that is Islam. If he did not, he wasn’t entitiled to the recognition of its last rites. His singling out for that ceremony says that he did represent Islam and deserved such recognition. That means, Islam is no “Religion of Peace” and Bin Laden’s was a justified attack. You can’t have it both ways.

If Bin Laden was no representative of Islam and his attack on helpless and innocent people was unjustified, then he was evil, deserved no such confusing consideration and should have been tossed into the sea like the dog he was. That he was not, accepts the righteousness of his cause by our leader.

Where Goest Thou, GutsyCall.com?

DID IT TAKE THE WHITE HOUSE SIXTEEN HOURS TO MAKE THIS DECISION?

In a post yesterday, I mused about Barack Obama’s reasoning behind his decision not to release images of a dead bin Laden. While the president was saying “spiking the football is not who we are,” GutsyCall.com was purchased and used as a link to Obama’s reelection site.

A funny thing happened on the way to the site today, as you can see above. It doesn’t appear that the president took sixteen hours to make this decision, does it?

A Late Dose of Thursday Therapy

Sometimes we all get stuck in a rut.  Events around us seem to be ever-changing but we just can’t seem to motivate ourselves to change with them.  We do the same things we have always done and we end up with the same results we always get and there just doesn’t seem to be a way break the routines with which we have saddled ourselves.

If this is you, let us provide you with some ideas – gleaned from literally a fraction of an hour of research on the internet – tailored to your specific situation.  Let us help you get out of that rut now and back on track to being the rising star you were meant to be. Read the rest of this entry

Osama bin Laden: We May Not Have the Pictures, But…

…we do have his last Facebook post:

Guess Who’s Politicizing Bin Laden’s Death?

SPIKING THE FOOTBALL?

In part from Meredith Jessup: Just hours after the news that Osama bin Laden had been killed in a firefight with U.S. commandos, John Brennan, the White House counter-terrorism advisor, hailed Barack Obama’s “gutsy call,” (which it was), that gave approval for the Special Forces mission to proceed.

While the president does indeed deserve credit for ordering the raid, (and by all accounts, has accepted it), he told us yesterday that we musn’t “spike the football” because “it’s not what we do.”

But…if you visit www.gutsycall.com, guess whose re-election website you’ll find? You guessed it; Obama’s 2012 campaign has apparently purchased “gutsycall.com.”

So much for not politicizing bin Laden’s death.

And Obama’s trip to Ground Zero today?

“What indeed has Athens to do with Jerusalem?”

Tertullian asked this question sometime during the 3rd Century and has been often quoted in both the study of early Christianity and religious philosophy.   Though his inquiry relates to conditions within the Church during his time, particularly the Hellenization of Christian thought, at its very heart, his question regards whether it is appropriate to apply reason to faith.   Since recently reading The Rat’s article “Why Do Atheists Ridicule Christianity?”, posted at The ConClub, I thought I would take some liberties with Tertullian’s quote to offer at least one possible explanation. Hmmm, Do I “Want to Believe?”

I have to admit, I read some of the early Ulsterman articles.  Have you

I should clarify though, I’ve always thought his articles only represented a clever fiction.  The unknown author, the unidentified DC insider, the high level of information covering a broad spectrum partisan politics that cannot be confirmed, all of it screams fantasy.  However, I have to wonder if it is possible that a political fiction, presented in Ulsterman’s Deep Throat style of outing interesting insider information, could end up proving prescient.  Read the rest of this entry

Senator: Enhanced Interrogations Led to Bin Laden Kill

CIA Interrogators Developed First Strands That Led to Bin Laden

A member of the US Senate Intelligence Committee has told CNBC that the death of Osama Bin Laden was a direct result of enhanced interrogations.

“The information that eventually led us to this compound was the direct result of enhanced interrogations; one can conclude if we had not used enhanced interrogations, we would not have come to yesterday’s action,” US Senator Richard Burr in a telephone interview with CNBC. Read more at cnbc.com.

Current and former U.S. officials say that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, provided the nom de guerre of one of bin Laden’s most trusted aides. The CIA got similar information from Mohammed’s successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi. Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania. Read more at washingtonpost.com.

A fading symbol of murdering innocents as Jihad is himself killed by an illegal alien death squad. Now, what?

Will the President of Mexico send commandos into Washington, DC after his most-wanted? Why not, the precedent is set, isn’t it?

And what did President Obama pay Pakistan to permit this that George Bush wasn’t willing to pay? Obama clearly needed something to crow about; in his time, so did Bush. But Bush didn’t try to buy it this way.

Finally, Bin Laden was the excuse for invading Afghanistan; now we can bring the kids home, right?

Osama was bad news and his death improves the world but he was old news; the handling of these and other effects that have followed him are now what matters.

And the response to it by Professor Elemental:

NATO on defensive over strikes close to Gadhafi

NATO have given a picture-perfect representation as to why they cannot and should never have been trusted in leading air raids against Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi’s government.

That they would begin to cower from people like China, Russia and Brazil (the first two are utter Human Rights abusers, and in Brazil, they indigenous community may have some unflattering words for the central government in Brasilia) shows that they have neither the spine nor the stomach to finish off Gadhafi.

It is far better that they pack their bags and go home rather than try to impress fellow Euro-weenies and play soldier.
