The Constitution Club
The Constitution Club is an online journal of discerning thought and conservative excellence that presents an array of perspectives on society, politics, public policy, culture, and current events. We espouse the concepts of ordered liberty, free enterprise, conservative principles, and constitutional governance while exposing the hypocrisy and failed policies of the Left. The work of our writers has been referenced by instapundit.com, Fox Nation, The G. Gordan Liddy program, and the Rush Limbaugh show as well as numerous other media and online outlets. Visit us daily for commentary that will inflame, inform, and enlighten.
Origins of The Constitution Club:
First, the name Constitution Club doesn’t actually have anything to do with the Constitution, directly. It has to do with a place – a street to be precise – where the original members first began to hash out the ideas that have since spilled over onto your computer screen.
The year was 1993 and for a group of friends at Colorado State University, an apartment on Constitution Avenue in Ft. Collins, CO was our home base. There, we would often convene on the back porch balcony and debate various issues of the day with cheap cigars and the beverage of one’s choice, which was usually a selection of Diet Pepsi Big Gulps, single malt Scotch, or Coors Light.
On that balcony, as we watched the traffic buzz past on Constitution Avenue, the various levels of intellect, anger, and sobriety would wax and wane — often, but not always, in proportion with one other. The debates were often heated, but only the very best arguments led to actual fisticuffs. These sessions came to be known as the Constitution Club.
Over the years, the home base would change its address, and eventually the gang graduated. But thereafter, whenever and wherever we met to drink, smoke, and tackle the issues of the day, it was known by all as the Constitution Club.
Several years ago, we started a website so that our divergent paths could once again cross, and of course it was christened Constitution Club. Back in the day, anyone invited to join us on the balcony considered it a privilege to participate in ConClub, and more than a few requested the invite in vain. Since then, most of the original members have moved on and many others have joined.
At the beginning of 2010 the staff, design, and purpose of the site underwent a major overhaul. Today, The Constitution Club is a journal of conservative thought featuring many different, talented, and experienced bloggers, writers, and authors from all over the country with the last original member of the college crew serving as the site administrator. But the core spirit of its origin and the mutual respect of its founders continues to this day.
We invite you out back, to crack open a cold one, smoke ‘em if you got ‘em, and fire away with your best shot.
You’ll probably find a few of us with whom you agree most of the time, some others who occasionally catch your eye, and some whom you think are complete morons, threats to all that is good in the world, or a sinister combination of both.
Welcome.
Just ran across your site while locating a newly erected billboard in Yass, OZ (Australia), pointed out by some of those few relatives to whom I admit.
You guys are a kick. Anyone ever take a class from Charlie Wilber – now gone – at CSU (I know the family)?
For your viewing amusement, see the McD’s billboard in Yass, OZ, somehow posted from your (?) site:
Failure, nuts!?! Hey, a picture’s worth a thousand, and those OZ folks know how to advertise.
I hope I like it here, AOL used to be a completely Open Forum to comment on, bad language was acceptable. We argued quite a bit, and like your friends in the article learned from each other. But now…sadly that day has gone and they have a new “Civilogue” and every time we comment, that comment is read by a Monitor before it can be posted. So about 80% of us have left. Well, they need us, we dont need them.
I followed the Instapundit link…glad I did. Thank you for your collective work.
Is there beer at editorial meetings? Rock on…
Dave The Sage posted about this place on a forum I belong to, gave a link, and I thought I would look in, peruse some of the bloggers comments, and generally get a feel for the place. Always looking for good articles, good arguments, good cold beer, and consider pretty girls an added plus.
I took basic training in Colorado so many, many, many moons ago and do like Coors Beer.
I will bookmark this site for future reading. So far I like pretty much what I see. My compliments to the crew, and thanks be to Dave for the invite.
It’s REALLY weird that I never knew any of you when I went to CSU. Our boy was born at PVH. We love CSU and Ft. Collins. I only discovered Dave while stationed in Korea! I sure do miss biking around town, towing our kids around in a bike carrier and taking Saturday trips to Walrus Ice Cream. Well, our babies are 15 and 18 now! Life’s gotten far more complicated post-military. But I’m at least as conservative as ever–not that I lack compassion, just that I know the best way to help anyone (and society as a whole) is to teach them how to care for themselves and develop a deeper sense of personal responsibility. What’s really cool is that I’ve also come to know a pastor their who shares my views. The biggest change in my life is that I’ve gone from serious Christian to outright Jesus freak–what will people think?!?!
Fantastic blog! Coincidentally enough, my wife (then-girlfriend) spent the 2010 summer living on Constitution Ave. in Fort Collins.
Keep putting out the great material!
As an editor at The Tea Party Tribune, I happily reprinted an excerpt of your piece (and linked it back here)!
Thanks. ~Becca

great points altogether, you simply gained a new reader.
What may you recommend about your publish that you just made a few days ago?
Any positive?
I wouldn’t say that not bnlievieg in evolution makes you scientifically ignorant per say. There are plenty of credible scientists who don’t believe that evolution can provide a full explanation of how we came to be. The fact that people who even question evolution are branded as ignorant or stupid is a sad testimony to the lack of scientific debate over certain subjects. Remember, even creationism was the accepted theory at one point.
