Save Religion and Uphold the Good

Man creates institutions that serve needs. The creation of religion and law enforcement are two such examples that help to give society order and function. The institution of religion serves to empower, give hope, and guide morality. The creation of law enforcement serves to provide order, limit crime, and protect and keep citizens safe. Although these institutions serve important purposes, they are not perfect or without flaws. As in everything in life, there are parts that must be improved upon.

Moral Compass

Overhearing conversations in the gym sauna, reading forums on line, and watching commercials on television, I have come to wonder what we value most in this society. From what I have gathered, it seems what is valued is in the superficial. I am often hearing conversations based on one’s outer appearance such as how much weight someone has lost or gained, how old or young someone looks, how someone’s hairstyle looks good or bad, and if someone had plastic surgery or not. TV, magazine, and Internet ads are mainly focused on selling products that promote the superficial aspects of life.

A Thought for the Future

As I lay here in my bed at 8:38am and contemplate the day ahead, I am thinking about what to write about. The ideas are not coming. I just know that I am happy that things are improving for the Republican platform. I know that all the hard work Republicans have done has paid off. People like Sarah Palin and Fox analysts, groups like the Tea partiers, and Republican elected officals have done much in the way of campaigning to promote the cause of conservative ideals and values. All that hard work has paid off. The 2010 elections were proof. The 2012 elections are right around the corner and we only have Pres. Obama for a short time. I am thankful for this turn around in American support. Pres. Obama will surely not get elected again with the minimal support he now shares. This is a far cry from when he originally won the presidency. For this we can truly be grateful this coming year.

An Unsuspecting Culprit is in our Wings

Proposition 19 is preparing to take center stage in the upcoming California elections on November 4, 2010. To legalize marijuana or continue to keep marijuana illegal is up for debate. Proponents of the initiative cite that legalizing and taxing marijuana would generate much-needed revenue and that legalization would allow law enforcement to focus on other crimes. Experts in the field of drug policy, policing, prevention, education and treatment report that neither of these claims withstand scrutiny. Democratic Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, Attorney General and candidate for Governor Jerry Brown and Democrat Obama’s drug czar Gil Kerlikowski oppose Proposition 19. Claims of Racism Against the Tea Partiers (baggers)

The musician(s) in this video could very well be racist, but how does this video generalize to the tea partiers? This was a question I asked of an online forum claiming that this video prooves that the teapartiers (teabaggers was the term used) are racist.

My response ~ It is my opinion that this video is being simulated as propaganda against the tea party movement. The tea partiers are gathering to gain support to bring back US Constitution principles, not to incite their so-called racism against President Obama. Propaganda is nothing new in politics and this is just more of it.

I am appalled at how claims of racism continue being used to further the cause of silencing those who are against the current administration’s policies.

The War of Words

In the Internet generation, I have noticed that socializing with others takes on new meaning. With the advent of social networking, blog sites, news on line, etcetera opinions, beliefs, ideas, conversations and friendships are limited in their capacity. In my experience of the “Internet Life” I have witnessed how my relationships are becoming more superficial, how people are more apt to be rude even to friends and loved ones, and how some people’s lives and images may be tarnished and in some cases destroyed.

Since becoming a member and blogger of Constitution Club (Conclub) I have begun questioning my political views. What triggered this mental episode was a post for Conclub I had written that is now in the trash file, “A Blast From My Past” and the comments I received afterward.

I had claimed Liberalism to be a form of narcissim. I never really clarified in my post enough of why. So the commenters and myself, together, were able to clarify the concept of Liberalism more in depth throughout the commentary.

A Blast From My Past

Last night I acted just like the obsessive, narcissistic model I once was from years back. The event that triggered the act was a night out with my former “bikini caddy,” as he still likes to be titled. The “Joe and Moe Show” was off to a location that we use to frequent often back in the day. That location was a nightclub. Nightclubs use to be the site for many modelesque events such as beauty contests, fashion shows, etc. Of course, the event last night was for something much more mundane than a bikini contest or lingerie fashion show that once was the order of the day.

I first met the “Joe” part of the show while being a beauty contest for the Ms. English Leather Contest. I won first place incidentally. I remember asking Mr. Joe during an intersession from the pageant what he thought my chances were of winning the contest and how he thought I stacked up against the competition. He was so smitten with me, he gave me just the answer I was looking for, “No one in the room compares to you darling.” I was a young thing and was not use to such devotion from an adoring fan. From that point on, Joe and I became inseparable companions. He went with me on auditions for acting parts, was my regular bikini caddy, and my confident for things model from that point on.

Disneyland Selling Out

Disneyland in Anaheim, CA is just one more corporation that is selling out in the name of commercialism. One of the attractions at Disneyland, Tom Sawyer’s Island, use to be a place for wide-eyed little “Tom Sawyer’s” to lose themselves in adventure while learning about this  Mark Twain character. Now, the once Tom Sawyer’s  Island is “Pirates Lair,” with none of that early Americana appeal that once was the original draw to Disneyland. Disneyland use to educate through entertainment. Now, it seems Disneyland is using product promotion to please investors. Even the Pirates of the Caribbean ride has Johnny Depp as the star and not the original pirates.

President of the Minorities, by the Minorities, and for the Minorities

When President Obama said, “Our time has come,” throughout his campaign speeches for president, I knew what he meant. He was beginning his divisive bid for president. And that divide he created is continuing to carry on in his presidency today. President Obama’s strategy has been and always will be, winning the minority cause vote. He is sympathetic to the minority cause and gains support from minorities and those who support the minority cause. And since Americans are sympathetic to others less fortunate, Christian values, President Obama did well with his strategy and took the oval office, even without realistic experience (think community organizer). Now, that he is being discovered for the inexperienced president he is, his strategy although powerful, will most likely not keep him succeeding. Unfortunately, the tea party movement with its good intention of taking American principles back, has the Obama legacy attached to it that white people are out to undermine the minority cause, therefore sadly get the racist label in many cases.

Teaching young, impressionable minds is no small ‘feet’.

I wish people who criticize teachers knew more about the job. I understand that teacher’s unions are protecting bad teachers, but being against teachers in general on that basis is unfair. Highly qualified teachers who are credentialed to teach in U.S. public schools now have to take at least three strenuous tests, get a bachelors degree and a teaching credential. The process takes approximately 8 or 9 years, close to equivalent of other high paying careers, lawyers, doctors…Those who are saying teachers get paid to much and have too many benefits are not complaining about other occupations. Teachers chose to get into the field because of the benefits and teaching children. Teaching young, impressionable minds is no small ‘feet.’ Teacher’s unions have served a purpose in our country, but have gotten too all powerful, I agree. I started my career at $35,000 about 6 years ago. I make more now, but no where in comparison to what doctors and lawyers make. Teachers are a necessary public service and the job is way more important than people realize. Teachers are on the front lines serving as children’s educators for a major part of their lives.

Hiding Conservative

Being conservative in California is like hiding in a closet. If you dare to state your views, you will be blackballed or called a racist. Any comments from you guys on your experiences would be appreciated. I use to be a Democrat; it was way easier. Friends were abundant, family supportive, but now that the tides have changed I am feeling like it is a sin to be conservative since liberalism is the new religion.

Losing my Religion

I am upset that the new religion, liberalism, is changing the value system I grew up with that was Judeo-Christian. Liberalism is affecting America’s core belief system in favor of feel good politics and political correctness. I am worried that the anti-God belief system that the secular-left is promoting will undermine the collectiveness and strength of our union. “One nation under God” is one of the core tenets of the American Constitution. When that core value is undermined, we lose our  sense of self (country) and without a self, our country is scattered, shooting off in different directions leading to anarchy and eventual destruction. Rome comes to mind.
