Dave’s Quote of the Day

The Democratic Party is very close to being the [Communist-controlled Progressive] party of Henry Wallace… Today’s left sees the world pretty much in the same terms as the Stalinists did. What has happened is that it has lost its faith in the working class, so its agenda is entirely negative. They’ve dropped the dictatorship of the proletariat and they all say they’re democrats, but so did Lenin. The vast bulk of the American left is a Communist left and they’ve introduced some fascist ideas like ‘identity politics,’ which is straight out of Mussolini. They don’t talk about the working class, they talk about women and race. There’s not much that they’ve learned from the history of the 20th century.

MAXINE WATTERS IS MIFFED: ‘I DON’T KNOW WHO HE THOUGHT HE WAS TALKING TO!’

I’m gonna go out on a limb here Maxine; Obama “thought” he was talking to YOU, that’s who — and the other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, as well. Never one to avoid idiotic trouble, Watters was in a snit Monday over a statement her president made to the crowd at the annual CBC awards banquet Saturday evening:

“Shake it off. Stop complainin’. Stop grumblin’. Stop cryin’. We are goin’ to press on. We have work to do.” Read the rest of this entry

Life in the (not so Golden) People’s Republic of California

Is This Really Incompetence?

One of the most counter-productive notions now circulating through the conservative blogosphere (and elsewhere) is the assertion that “Obama is incompetent.” There are several variants:

  • Obama is stupid, or at least not intelligent
  • He’s in over his head
  • His advisers don’t have a clue
  • The stress is overwhelming him
  • His narcissism has led him down the wrong path
  • If we at least had a smart liberal, such as Hillary Clinton, things wouldn’t be so bad

Etc.

There is an element of truth in each of these claims, but in the scheme of things they constitute nothing more than a fanciful distraction from the ugly reality that is staring us in the face. Read the rest of this entry

I would not normally waste my time writing about someone as insignificant as Janeane Garofalo - much less whatever she thinks about anything. However, I couldn’t resist the temptation this time; her latest pathetic theory represents the worst of left-wing faux-intellectualism; it is indicative of how far into the gutter liberalism in America has fallen.

DNC (air)head worried that Republicans want to criminalize crimes

This one has a head full of sailboat fuel.

I think the president was clearly articulating that his position — the Democrats position — is that we need comprehensive immigration reform. We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy. And that is not only a reality but a necessity. And that it would be harmful if — the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries, and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all. I mean that was the legislation that Jim Sensenbrenner advanced a couple of years ago.

Dave’s Quote of the Day

“They don’t like the truth so they summarily dismiss it. They say it’s a government takeover of healthcare. A big lie just like [Nazi propaganda minister Joseph] Goebbels. You say it enough and you repeat the lie, repeat the lie, repeat the lie until eventually people believe it. Like blood libel, that’s the same kind of thing. The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it, and you have the Holocaust. You tell a lie over and over again.”

-Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen (Tenn.) on the House floor Tuesday night comparing Republican claims about the healthcare reform law to lies perpetrated by the Nazis that led to the Holocaust.

So much for that whole “lets all be civil, tone down the rhetoric” crap the Left has been peddling lately. What a bunch of lame, ridiculous, whining hypocrites.

If he feels this strongly about lies, he’s just got to feel horrendously awful about how his ideological allies have been treating Sarah Palin over the last week and a half. I eagerly await his indignant speech on the House floor in regards to the libel, slander, and yes lies directed at her in such a hateful manner.

The hypocrisy of the Left in the face of tragedy

The absolute hatred that spewed forth from the Left for eight long years during the Bush administration can’t even be touched by anything the Right has come forth with in the last two. The Left is awash with hypocrisy if they attempt to lecture conservatives on “toning down the rhetoric.” Such silliness would be sad if it wasn’t so devious and underhanded. Liberals threw out polite political discourse many years ago so I guess we were just all stunned to hear them suddenly clamoring for such a thing this morning. What a shock that they suddenly had a Paul-on-the-road-to-Damascus moment.

Playing the blame game with the Arizona shootings

I’ll be very honest. Conservatives have a low regard for liberals because of the types of comments as we have seen over the last 24 hours in regards to the tragedy in Arizona. This was a tragedy totally outside the realm of cheap political potshots. When the gutter-licking Left tries to turn tragedies like this into some sort of anti-Palin, anti-Fox News, anti-Limbaugh and Beck, or anti-Tea Party (or whatever) political statement we should all be extremely disgusted at such pathetic attempts to smear an opponent with the blood of real people and real victims. And frankly, shame on all those who are acting this way today. Disgusting, uncalled for, a devious and obvious lie, and very disrespectful for the victims that were injured or killed yesterday. I was saddened to see such references already floating around today. Shame on the Left for engaging in such behavior.

The last gasp of the progressives

Millions of homes being lost to foreclosure. The federal government having to borrow 40 cents of ever dollar it spends. An exploding federal debt. About a quarter of the population unemployed or underemployed. A failed public school system. Corrupt unions and an administration openly bribing elected officials with funds from the public treasury or paid positions in return for their votes. Massive illegal immigration. Forty-two million people on food stamps. Big government bailing out big business while the average citizen received no benefit. “To big to fail.” One in five Americans has an STD and popular culture is a sewer. Thus is the state of the United States today.

Five Best Moments from MSNBC’s Apocalyptic Night

5 Best Moments from MSNBC’s Apocalyptic Night

It’s kind of nice to see those who have run roughshod over the American people and have shown themselves to be nothing more than smug, arrogant elitists to finally, finally, be brought down to earth. Those who openly bribed others with funds from the public treasury to pass legislation have finally been held accountable for their actions. Obama was almost kind of contrite today and his arrogant “we won, you lost” style of governance isn’t quite as effective or applicable today. Let there be rejoicing in the land that I will not have to look at Pelosi’s face staring back at me at another State of the Union address ever again.

Oh, and MSNBC last night completely abandoned even the semblance of being an actual news outlet. Amazing. I went back and forth between CNN and Fox. Both did a decent job of covering the election.

Republicans Kind of Suck … Which Is Why They Will Win Huge in November

Republicans Kind of Suck … Which Is Why They Will Win Huge in November

Priceless, and now you know why. A great find on instapundit today that was well worth sharing. The style kind of reminds me of our own THB.

So the Democrats sucked. But not just plain old, usual politician sucked, but epic levels of suck where it’s hard to find an analogue in human history that conveys the same level of suckitude. It was sheer incompetence plus arrogance — and those things do not complement each other well. We’re talking sucking that distorts time and space like a black hole.

It’s Godzilla-smashing-through-a-city level of suck — but a really patronizing Godzilla who says you’re just too stupid and hateful to see all the buildings he’s saved or created as he smashes everything apart. Or, to use Obama’s favorite analogy, you have a car stuck in ditch, so you call the mechanic, but the only tool he brings with him is a sledgehammer. And then he smashes your car to pieces and charges you $100,000 for his service. Finally, he calls you racist for complaining. Obama and the Democrats have been so awful, it’s hard for the human brain to even comprehend.

But the Democrats will counter that the Republicans also suck. And while this is true, it’s not really going to help them. As I pointed out before, both a dog incessantly barking and a zombie apocalypse are things that everyone would agree suck. Yet no one during a zombie apocalypse, while hiding out in a boarded up mall, would turn to the other survivors and say, “We don’t want to kill all the zombies; then we’d have to go back to being woken up at night by that annoying dog next door.” But this is the best argument the Democrats can come up with. “Remember how awful the Republicans and Bush were? You hated them. You don’t want to go back to that.” Yes, why would people want to go back to when 6% unemployment was considered high?

Was it something he said, or something he did?

“The organizations paying for these attacks hope to motivate their own passionate followers while discouraging others from voting because of their dismay at the level of discourse. While I am confident …., I will be urging all voters to go to the polls despite this climate in order to help prevent this flood of money from submerging our democracy.”

Andrew Breitbart?  No.

Sarah Palin? No.

Glenn Beck? No.

I hilite the “yea””s for a reason. Wannna guess what it is? OK, I’ll give one clue. Democrats passed this thing 51-12. Without one single Republican needing to vote, they passed it. The military didn’t like it, the gay community didn’t like it, no one liked it. The Democrat controlled House, the Democrat controlled Senate, and the Democrat President rammed it through anyway. According to Clinton, it wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Media pretty much ignored “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” for a while until it became expedient. Over time, it became purely a Republican issue as the Republicans did exactly as the Democrats did years before and effectively ignored it. The media bias culminated itself this year when Lady Gaga chastised Republicans for talking about filibustering the bill that would eliminate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell:
http://abcnews.go.com/assets/player/walt2.6/flash/SFP_Walt.swf

“I will not stop calling until I reach them to tell them to vote with Sen. Harry Reid to end John McCain’s ‘shameless filibuster,’” she said.

She then calls two Democrats who refuse to take her call. There was no filibuster, Harry Reid never sent it to the floor. The gays returned to attacking the hell out of Republicans only even though the Democrats once again had all the votes they needed to pass the legislation to end it. All the while, no one was mentioning the fact that a lawsuit was working it’s way through the legal system to undo what Bill Clinton and the Democrats did in 1993. It wasn’t filed by Lady Gaga. It wasn’t filed by any Democrat. It was filed by the Log Cabin Republicans. And then a weird thing happened. They won. Republicans, who controlled nothing in DC, did what Harry Reid refused to do. They ended “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. The Obama administration thought about it for a couple of days. And, knowing how the gays felt about DADT, had this to offer:

WASHINGTON — After two days of silence, the Obama administration urged a federal judge on Thursday to let the military press on with its “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on gays serving openly in the military. Still, President Barack Obama insisted the policy that has divided the nation for two decades “will end on my watch.”

The Pentagon said the military “will of course obey the law” and halt enforcement while the case is still in question. But gay rights advocates cautioned gay service members to avoid revealing their sexuality in the meantime.

A federal judge abruptly threw out the Clinton-era ban on Tuesday, setting in motion a legal, political and human-rights back-and-forth that put the administration on the spot just two weeks before crucial midterm elections. Obama has consistently argued against the ban, approved by Congress in 1993. But he says it is up to Congress to repeal it.

The policy, summed up as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” refers to guidance that gay or lesbian Americans can serve in the military but not openly. Their superiors are forbidden to ask about sexual orientation, but service members can be thrown out or denied enlistment if they talk about being gay or let it be known that they engage in homosexual acts.

Obama’s Justice Department asked U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips to stay her ruling that overturned the ban while the government prepares a formal appeal. Asking the judge for a response by Monday – “given the urgency and gravity of the issues” – the government said that suddenly ending the ban would be disruptive and “irreparably harm the public interest in a strong and effective military.”

Obama, challenged Thursday at a town hall meeting by a Howard University faculty member who questioned his “alleged commitment to equality for all Americans, gay and straight,” said his stance has not wavered. He can’t end the ban with the stroke of a pen, he said, but “we’re going to end this policy.”

You read that right. The Obama Administration is asking for a delay in the ruling so the Obama Administration can prepare an appeal to the ruling. They wanna fight it. So, even though the Democrats wrote DADT, passed DADT, have ruled over DADT for nine of the seventeen years it’s been existance, refused to vote to end DADT, and now are fighting legally to keep DADT, I bet you good money there won’t be a single liberal gay person come out and point their finger where the problem is, has been, and continues to be. If they do, I’d love to see their comments here. The reason DADT has survived all these years considering no one seems to like it is because the Democrats know they won’t be held accountable for it so no need to antagonize their moderate to conservative base, and the Republicans know that no matter what they do they won’t get any credit so they have no reason to antagonize their base either. When media and gays become less partisan and more objective then maybe they’ll get what they want.

Until then, they’ll have to keep relying on the Republicans. It’s a core issue with Republicans in a way most people don’t really think about. In expecting the government to protect a minority, the government has to do it in a way that is equitable to all people affected by the minority. Sometimes that doesn’t necessarily work to the minority’s advantage. By NOT recognizing the minority as a minority, it removes the issue of being a minority and allows the issues that affect that minority to be addressed. There is no reason to protect gays in the military. They are already protected by our Constitution. What needs to be protected are the rights gays have as US citizens. When that occurs, gays will have all the same rights as anyone else in the military and I am quite sure that would make everyone happy. Repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell therefore is kind of moot to me. What needs to happen is all references to discriminating on the basis of sexual preferance need to be eliminated. I really don’t buy the argument that it would be disruptive to the military at all. Obama may want you to believe that, but I don’t.

Proud Socialists March at Left-Wing Protest in DC

You have to wonder how the press would react if Mein Kamf was openly sold at Tea Party rallies and the Ku Klux Klan (the real one, not the soccer moms who doesn’t cheerlead Obamacare) marched around in full regalia and were fully accepted by the other rally participants. Perhaps a few books peddled with Mussolini on the front cover. They would have the biggest collective temper tantrum the world has ever seen. Yet the Left’s exact version of what I just hypothesized about happened just a matter of days ago as the Left attempted to mimic the anger and drive of the Tea Party movement with a little gathering of their own in Washington D.C. The hypocrisy and media bias in such matters, though completely expected, is still staggering. It is nice, though, to see the radical agenda on such open parade for all to see.

A great video showing the vast array of Government workers, socialists, union members, and anti-Israel advocates that were bussed in for the “One Nation” rally can be found here on PJTV.

I know that you’ll love this:

Resistance is justified, when people are occupied!

Oh yeah, baby. Almost kind of catchy. And the tamborine was a nice touch, don’t you think? At a Right-wing rally you might see the Betsy Ross or perhaps a Don’t Tread On Me flag. At a Left-wing rally you might see a red banner or perhaps a hammer and sickle flag. That ought to tell you something about the ideologies involved in this classic struggle for the hearts and minds of the American people. Which side are you on?

Sex Education, Social Engineering, Progressive Politics And The Rainbow Agenda

I personally home schooled my daughter through 7th grade and my son through 6th. She is positioned to be the valedictorian of her school next year and hopes to go into law or medicine. As an 11th grader, she claims to be the ONLY virgin she knows of in her entire high school (of over 1000 students). Her 8th grade brother is an honor student taking both regular and advanced classes despite profound dyslexia. He, too, is proud to be a virgin. Referring to his classmates, he says “most of them” are sexually active. What difference did an abstinence-based (home schooling) curriculum make in their lives? I believe it made all the difference! By far the best place to give children a healthy understanding of the proper role of sex in their lives is in their own homes.

A Nation Of Bond Villains

The Beast caught the weekend episode of “Hannity” last night, in which Sean interviewed a college Prof who’s writing a book about the way Liberals see Conservatives (can’t find the details yet, but they will will be forthcoming). His thesis should be familiar to anybody who has spent any time in the lefty Fever Swamps: Liberals believe the truth of their Ethos is so manifest, so self-evident that anybody who denies it is either Evil or Stupid. The Evil conservatives are the guys with the brains who are out to make billions or enact a racist, sexist, islamophobic theocracy, and The Stupid Conservatives are those too dimwitted to realize they’re being used.

And while Conservatives grant Libs the benefit of the doubt, insofar as they they tend to argue that Libs are well-intentioned, but naive and wrong, Libs don’t return the favor at all. Which is a bit odd, considering that movement which rejects moral absolutes under the umbrella of Postmodernism seems to view the world in the same stark colors of black and white  that would be adopted by the primmest seventeenth-century puritan preacher.

Dave’s Quote of the Day

…the November elections will be fought primarily on the mess that the president and his Congressional captains have made of the economy, the disaster that is Obamacare, and the deficit volcano.

But increasing numbers will join in the effort to toss out Democrats from top to bottom because of the three “social issues” of border security, marriage and the mosque, and not just because of the substance of the issues, but because so many among the Democrats have decided to denounce their political opponents on these matters as bigoted haters.

This wild escalation in rhetoric suggests that a kind of panicked political madness has overcome the Democrats as they study the polling numbers. They are anticipating their reaction on November 3 and giving early vent to their fury at the voters for not agreeing to blame Bush some more.

-Hugh Hewitt

I can see November from my house and I can’t wait for election night.

“That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,” he said. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”

There has to be someone out there who is surprised by this.  2 in 10 New Yorkers polled supported the idea of the Cordoba House.  73% of all polled opposed it.  Blacks, whites, males, females, latinos, you name it, they opposed it.  So, as usual, Obama disregards the will of the majority to assert a moral opinion that he has some special insight that 73% of the people don’t.  That the same funding mechanism and values that supported killing 3,000 innocent New Yorkers should be accepted by those victims simply because it was done in the name of religion.

Clue here Obama, there’s a bunch of New Yorkers who I don’t think are going to be very tolerant.  I don’t expect them to be.  A good portion of that religion has declared holy wars on the citizens of the United States.  Some people take that seriously.

Others think they can talk their way out of it.

Side note, I’m going to bet this headline alone costs the Democrats 10 more elections.  The rap on Obama was he would be weak on defense.  The very day an aggressive Islamic nation announces they are going nuclear, Obama sells out New York City to Bin Laden.  We are pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan and tossing in Manhatten to boot.  I would hope it would be a lot bigger number than 10, but some people just can’t vote anything but Democrat.

The Race Card Is Maxed Out

I’m not a fan of Jon Stewart (but I think he’s less of a boor than Bill Maher and in general is more entertaining) but every now and then he surprises me with a satirical gem aimed at the left.

Heck, if Jon gets it (and more importantly brings attention to it), that can’t be good for the other team.

What Failure Looks Like

Newt Gingrich’s letter in Human Events yesterday gives a snapshot of just how badly Obama is doing. In brief:

As bad as the 9.5% unemployment rate is, it’s artificially low and may be as high as 22%.

Obama promised to create 3.5 million jobs, instead we’ve lost 4.1 million during his administration, a deficit of 7.6 million jobs.

Despite high unemployment, firms are having trouble filling job openings because the extension of unemployment benefits gives people an incentive to stay on unemployment, and business owners paralyzed by the Democrats’ agenda are afraid to hire new workers (or otherwise invest in their businesses) unable to predict how much they will owe in taxes and the future to the price of energy should an energy tax get passed.

A majority of Americans favor repealing the health care bill including 71% of Missouri voters who repudiated it at the polls.

West Virginia and the party that hates coal

1943.

There was no Super Bowl.  There was no BCS.  There was no FIFA.  There were no Civil Rights Acts. For that matter, there weren’t even 50 states. The world was at war. Israel didn’t exist. Everything ran on coal.

That was also the last time West Virginia elected a Republican Senator in a regular election.

Obama and that pesky transparency promise

Obama made transparency a big deal when he was running. The assumption was Bush was making all these backroom deals. I don’t think he was. Call it a hunch. So, Obama, pandering to the masses, promised to tell them everything. That has led to an odd result. First there was Nancy Pelosi’s well informed pitch to pass health care reform legislation:

But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

Pelosi’s so proud of that statement she’s got it on her website.

Passing on the most basic responsibility of governing

Steny Hoyer has decided Congress doesn’t need to pass a budget this year. It’s just too darned complicated to pass a budget when there’s all that darned debt. Rather than being faced with the possibility of increasing the debt even more, or making painful budget cuts during an election year, Hoyer is punting until later when there’s not an election to worry about.

I thought this comment was amazingly appropriate:

House Democrats are now on the cusp of failing to meet the most basic responsibility of governing – enacting a budget. The truth is, the American people are not the only ones who are rejecting the Democrats Party’s policies – so are some Democrats. After years of helping their party and president dig a massive fiscal hole, some Democrats are now running scared that their misguided policies will finally catch up to them at the ballot box this November.

Those words were spoken by Steny Hoyer in 2006. I changed one word. Wanna guess which one?
