OBAMA’S 2013 BUDGET IS AMERICA’S GREEK TRAGEDY

If we recall those cheesy Greek columns that were the backdrop for the DNC convention at Denver’s Invesco Field stadium in August 2008, we may have initially thought those pillars to simply represent the DNC minions’ pitiful hero worship of some mysterious, unknown, small time Chicago politico named Barack Hussein Obama as their party’s candidate for President of the United States. Little did anyone realize that this garish Greek metaphor was a foreshadowing of the grand plan for the progressive/socialist’s “Apollo” to deliberately destroy America’s economic hegemony and replace it to resemble Greece’s financial decay.

Where’s Our Iron Lad(y)

I just saw The Iron Lady, a compelling biopic of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only woman Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the longest reigning from 1979 to 1990.  She was played clone-like by Meryl Streep.  This movie, a stylized piece, was criticized much as Thatcher herself was criticized for her strong, unwavering fight against Socialism and for Conservatism.  She vowed,

“…and I will go on criticizing Socialism, and opposing Socialism because it is bad for Britain — and Britain and Socialism are not the same thing. … It’s the Labour Government that have brought us record peace-time taxation. They’ve got the usual Socialist disease — they’ve run out of other people’s money.”

Free Wood Halted; Cost Too Much

“Free Wood Program Halted” was the Albuquerque Journal’s notice that New Mexico no longer allowed citizens to cut free firewood on state grazing leases. In the past, three such sites were open each Fall.

Why no more? Too expensive, said the State Land Commissioner; “we’ve been spending $75,000 a year administering the program.”

OMG!!! Any bureaucrat who can spend that much letting citizens cut free wood in three rural locations for three months a year ought to be up for: Creative Bureaucrat of the Year!

I would like to present to you a secret interview that I conducted with Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve and a key player in the design and implementation of the Obama Administration’s economic policy. His remarks were supposed to be off the record, but I feel that the current debt crisis justifies immediate publication of the transcript.

I met with Mr. Bernanke in the basement of the Fed’s headquarters, where the Chairman was busy inspecting a new printing press. Read the rest of this entry

Everyday Economics of Saving the Planet

The Age of Narcissism

In my daily perusal of various article digests, I came across an article from Yahoo!News titled Down but not Out: Voices of the Long-Term Unemployed. Having more than one family member who has not had an actual full time job in some time, and as I am about to join the ranks of the underemployed soon myself (the job still exists, but my hours are being slashed – and worse, the person “in charge” has no clue about some of my job functions that are being eliminated, the ones that will pull us out of the mess we’re in eventually), I started reading the article with some interest.

Obama Says Increase in Unemployment Rate Proves Stimulus Worked!

HUH?

QUESTION: Can an increase in the unemployment   rate be viewed as positive proof that Barack Obama’s “stimulus” package has worked?

ANSWER: Of course it can. On Planet Obama, that is. Just three days after the Labor Department announced that unemployment rose to 9.2% in June, Obama said that the loss of more jobs proved that his $830 billion “stimulus” plan worked.

“Now, without re-litigating the past, I am absolutely convinced and the vast majority of economists are convinced that the steps we took in the recovery act saved millions of people their jobs, or created a whole bunch of jobs. And, part of the evidence of that, as you see instances of the recovery act phasing out.”

Make no mistake, folks; Barack Obama is in the fight of his political life. Think about it: Here’s a leftist politician who never saw a dollar (someone else’s or borrowed) that he couldn’t spend – er, sorry – “invest.” And now he wants the “largest (deficit-reduction) deal” possible? Are you kidding me? It’s not even April Fool’s Day.

WHO, ME? WHAT? HUH? WHAT DID I DO? WHAT? WHO? WHAT? ME???

THAT DITCH DOESN’T LOOK SO BAD AFTER ALL, DOES IT?

Every time I write an article on Barack Obama and the sorry state of the economy, I tell myself, “This will be the last one – at least for awhile.” And then? I renege. Why? New unemployment data comes out, our buck-passer-in-chief says something ridiculous, or as luck would have it today – both things happen at the same time. That’s when the fun starts.

Obamanomics: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job!

OBAMA’S HAND-PICKED ECONOMISTS POO-POO ‘STIMULUS’

The presidency of Barack Obama would be hysterical – if it were not so dangerous to the United States of America. Now, the White House’s Council of Economic Advisors, (a group of three economists who were all handpicked by Captain Awesome himself)reports that Captain A’s “stimulus package” has added or saved just under 2.4 million jobs – whether private or public – at a cost (to date) of $666 billion. That’s a cost to taxpayers of $278,000 per job.

No Disaster is Too Small to Further the Agenda

DUDE STILL DOESN’T GET IT – AND HE NEVER WILL

“WE CAN’T SIMPLY CUT OUR WAY TO PROSPERITY”

Barack Obama, bless his socialist heart, just doesn’t get it. And guess what? He never will. Unlike Bill Clinton, who reluctantly – but effectively – moved to the center following the Republican Revolution of 1994, this man is simply too hard-wired and arrogant to change.

Obama said Saturday that   while he “remained committed” to working with Congress to “find a solution” to the government’s debt problem, the focus could not only be on spending cuts. (One wonders what level of “commitment” Obama had to working with Republicans in Congress prior to this statement.) Taking Advantage of the Onslaught in the Patent Office

Legalized Plunder

An important thinker worthy of our consideration is the French statesman and economist Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850). Perhaps his most important work was The Law. Published in the year of his death, it is a concise formulation of the case for classic liberalism (of the Adam Smith variety), and a stern warning against the dark clouds of socialism that were descending upon Europe, particularly after the great upheavals of 1848. OBAMA REGIME EDITS LAUGHTER OUT OF TRANSCRIPT

At a Monday evening fundraiser, Barack Obama claimed that his administration has created 2.1 million jobs under his “stimulus” plan - and DNC donors laughed out loud.

“Over the last 15 months we’ve created over 2.1 million private sector jobs.” (Laughter)

Chris Wallace’s Interview of Jon Stewart

I haven’t seen anyone else’s opinion, but speaking strictly for myself, I thought this was one of Chris Wallace’s best interviews ever. Fox News Sunday had the condensed version, which I also thought was very fair. The video is about twice as long and was very well edited (IMO) to fit the limited timeframe they had.
Wallace was very well prepared to counter Stewart at every step. Stewart was allowed to make his points, and I understand some of them, but it still saddens me that so many uniformed voters take Stewart seriously and blindly follow the mainstream media as truth.
