Friday Night Punk 2- The Pogues
“Jack’s Heroes”
How could I forget edition…
Dedicated to the French and particularly to Henry and his lovely hands… Have a nice trip home. VIVA MEXICO!
Friday Night Punk- NOFX
“Leaving Jesusland”
I love lie-beral California edition
Say what you will, I love this state! Leave your closets behind.
How I got my swagger back
After an extended absence from both the posts and the comments, this may be lightweight compared to some of the recent brilliance on display by the Beast and his fans. I also acknowledge that by posting an ad for a car company (especially this car company), I fall into the category of those less concerned about dependence upon oil. To make matters worse, thanks to BP a huge friggin Oil Slick is expected to be on my back door in a few days and potentially ruin my vacation plans for the summer. But that’s okay. Because I fall square into the freaking middle of the demographic this particular ad is oh-so-brilliantly aimed at. It may be the end of the world as I know it, but I feel fine.
Friday Night Punk- Bad Religion
I’m Easily Confused Edition
21st Century (Digital Boy)
As someone who freely admits that I am not that bright when it comes to details, and that I also get most of my news from partisan sources, I’m actually very curious about PG’s take on what is wrong with the current HCR bill. The politics behind it are pretty simple. I obviously don’t want the Dems to get slaughtered this year if they fail to pass it, which, as Zod looks at the polls, ain’t gonna happen anyway (if I had to guess I’d think -23/-5 from the current majority… on election night watch IN-02. As it goes, so goes the House, but I digress). From a policy standpoint, I don’t see the real problem. The bill seems to offer obvious fixes such as increasing Medicaid/S-CHIP access, better competition through pooling of individual-based policies, and very needed reform of the insurance industry, without much downside. It does contain an individual mandate, but also provides subsidies for those who can’t afford it, and it requires insurance companies to allow parents to insure their kids until the age of 26, so that seems to be a wash. On top of that, the CBO says it will, in fact, reduce the deficit and many more people will be insured, so I’d call that a win-win.
I’ll admit that it isn’t my first choice (single payer with optional private insurance), and I’d rather they pay for it through either a payroll or income tax, but once you peel away the scary, nonsensical socialized medicine crap that seems to be most of the basis for opposition, it seems like it’s just a package of pretty basic and necessary reforms. What am I missing?
Friday night punk I’m the One / Everything sucks
Maybe this’ll help get the taste of Lady Gaga out of your mouth. Wait a minute…. what… eh never mind.
Going back to the old school with some Decsendents. There was a regular video version of “I’m the One” but a like this version better because it’s a little dirty, liiterally. The guys are getting mud thrown at them and Milo seems to love it. I love that guy. He’s probably my favorite dork of all time.
You also get two songs for the price of one with this. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! Also included is an educational interview in between the songs.I leanred from it that not only is douche a word that can be used to describe Keith Olberman but it also means shower in German.
Friday Night Punk – Link 80
A nice catchy little punk/ska song. Unfortunately you’ll never hear from this band again. The lead singer who happened to be author Danielle Steel’s son died of a heroin overdose at the ripe old age of 19. What a shame. Another waste of talent.
Friday Night Punk Reel Big Fish
The title incorporates a few of my favorite things. Fishing, punk rock, and beer. I saw these guys wih Goldfinger way back when. What a great show. Lot of fun.
Friday Night Punk- The Pogues
I finally get to see the bastards in concert edition!
”The Sick Bed Of Cúchulaínn”
The Pogues are one of my favorite bands of all time, and I have never been able to see them live. The lead singer, Shane MacGowan, was long ago kicked out of the Irish punk band he founded for his heavy drinking. Just think about that for a second. A little known fact is that Joe Strummer took his place for one tour, and from the videos I’ve seen, he was a great fit (of course, he would be almost anywhere good music is involved).
A few years ago the band reunited, and they are coming to San Diego on Monday. Needless to say I took Tuesday morning off. For those of you in Denver, if you are feeling adventurous, they will be playing The Ogden next Friday, so you can experience some real FNP!
As is customary with The Pogues, lyrics below the fold for the uninitiated.
Friday Night Punk- Green Day
It’s Gay Pride Weekend in San Diego edition!!!
“Minority”
Not a particularly “gay” song, but the video is a bunch of proud weirdos parading around the streets of San Diego, so it seemed only fitting. They need more drag queens, though.
FNP: The Airborne Toxic Event-Papillion
One of my all time favorite movies is Papillion. Let us not be guilty of the same crime.
Have a great weekend everybody!
Friday Night Punk Valentine’s Day edition
Happy Valentine’s Day to all my fellow hopeless romantics out there.
Sorry that it’s not the best quality but the venue brings back some fond memories. I remember the Bouncing Souls back when they were a no name band in the Rutgers bar scene in New Brunswick and CBGB was where I learned to love punk rock. It was the size of the living room in a nice home and the men’s room hadn’t been cleaned since the Ford administration but the music there was incredible. It WAS punk rock.
I’d send this out to all of the ladies in conclub but since there’s only one Happy Valentine’s Day Mo. Mr Mo is a lucky man. Eh what the hell happy Valentine’s Day to you too Dre even though I don’t swing from that side of the plate I’ll still spread some love especially since I’m usurping FNP.
And a reminder to all of the rest of you TOMORROW’S VALENTINE’S DAY!! Don’t forget how much your better half has to put up with. Go out and get some roses at least.
FNP – The Minutemen
The Minutemen – This ain’t no picnic
Ronald Reagan shows up in the vid, so you know it’s gotta be good.
FNP not one for the kids
A little ditty from the Dropkick Murphys called Kiss me I’m S–t Faced.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Friday Night Punk – All
In keeping with my current “decline of society” attitude of late here’s “World’s on Heroin” from a couple of gents from Ft Collins Colorado. Not far from the birthplace of conclub.
Have a great weekend everyone!
FNP – The Minutemen edition
A double dose of The Minutemen.
Corona (The theme to Jackass)
Little Man with a Gun in his Hand
Monday Night Punk- The Pixies
One more day edition.
“Where is My Mind”
Happy thoughts.
Don’t forget to vote tomorrow, everyone.
Sunday Night Punk- The Pogues
For Wes-
“Turkish Song of the Damned”
Did I mention that I hate phone-banking, especially for a lost cause (two more frakking days)… NO ON 8!
It’s going to pass 53-47. But Zod will keep on trying. Sorry Dave.
Friday Night Punk – Flogging Molly
A wacky little concoction of Flogging Molly’s Salty Dog with scenes from Pirates of the Carribean. It mixes rather nicely I think.
PC at home is still down so I’ll wish you all a lovely weekend now since I probably won’tbe checking back in until Monday.
Friday Night Punk Yom Kippur edition
NOFX – The Brews
Happy belated Yom Kippur and a happy even more belated new year to all of our Jewish contributors out there from the Goyem of conclub. Here’s a little comething celebrating your heritage from a couple of my favorite albeit less famous Jewish musicians.
Friday Night Punk- Blink 182
Get well soon Travis edition.
“Stay Together for the Kids” (My favorite Blink 182 song)
Obviously it’s not Friday, but give your thoughts and prayers to my favorite drummer, and to the families of the others involved in the crash.
Friday Night Punk – Whole Wheat Bread
The cultural diversity edition of FNP. All of the actual videos had poor sound quality which is a shame because these guys are wild live. Enjoy
Friday Night Punk – Sarah ‘Barracuda’ edition
Okay so perhaps Heart isn’t of the punk genre but they are just as groundbreaking and revolutionary. This is perhaps their best song and should be a staple over the next two months. Coincidentally, Ann Wilson wrote this song after a media controversy. Apparently some overzealous reporter for Rolling Stone accused the sisters of having a sexual relationship. Incensed, Ann returned to her hotel room and wrote Barracuda to relieve her frustration. Imagine that?! The media blowing stuff out of proportion to create a story!
Friday Night Punk- The Gimmie Gimmies
I get to help oversee the downfall of Western Civilization tomorrow edition!!!
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
Tomorrow I attend my first honest to gosh, totally legal gay wedding. Our nefarious agenda marches forward.
Friday Night Punk- Against Me!
It’s almost “Game On” time edition.
“Stop!”
It’s not the original video for the song, but I thought it was pretty appropriate.
BTW, this FNP is dedicated to my best pal Maggie, and to TBogg’s buddy Satchmo. Basset pride and all that.
Update: Ugh. This made me lose it. Frak.
Friday Night Punk- Green Day
Sorry I’ve been missing edition.
“I Walk Alone”
Sorry I’ve been gone for a while, but for the last two months I’ve been dealing with “doggie-issues”, which culminated in me having the dog I’ve had since college put down last week. I’ll be back soon, but I haven’t really cared about politics lately.
Update: I decided to check out a few of my moonbat blogs, and TBogg’s going through the same thing (with the same breed). Sigh.
FN — [Definitely Not!] — P
Earlier today, I heard a song on the radio that I had never heard before, and immediately loved it. So much so that when I got home, I just had to Google it. How embarrassed I felt to learn that it was in fact a Hannah Montana bubble-gum pop hit.
Oh well, I still love it.
FNP – Dave Edition
Chemical Warfare by Dead Kenneys
Jello is a trip. No vid but this was the best sounding studio version I could find.
Friday Night Punk
I know Andre would dispute this edition of FNP as too mainstream but since I learned of Fall Out Boy from him, he has to accept this. Besides, the song is a classic from 25 years ago. Enjoy!
Friday Night Punk- The Dead Milkmen
Jeremiah Wright Hates Amerika, and Barack HUSSEIN Obama listened to him for twenty years edition
“Methodist Coloring Book”
The insanity goes on and on and on.
Friday Night Punk- The Offspring
It will make no sense to anyone but me edition (aka THE ISRAELIS ARE ON AN AERO-PLANE HOME EDITION!!!!!)
The contract that will not die is over. We pack up and ship the hardware next week, and these hellish five years of my life are finally done. I won’t be back until Monday, because I intend to get totally hammered all weekend.
P.S. If I hear Hebrew any time in the near future, I think my fight-or-flight reflex will kick in. The IAF officers were great guys, but there is only so much I can take. Oh, and for the record, Kosher wine is gross.
FNP
Dave’s staging a brief comeback this evening. I’ve always preferred the ‘surf punk’ sound.
Agent Orange – Pipeline
Agent Orange – Cry for Help
What’s kind of funny about Agent Orange is that they have a good studio sound and have had a decent following for over twenty years. You go to see them live and it’s like going to band practice. I’ve been to two shows and the first time I got my arm broke by the fifth song so I missed half the concert. I made a great impression on the emergency room staff (not to mention the doctor roused from his comfortable bed to set my arm) at one in the morning. DFV was lucky enough to see me the next night with my hand to shoulder cast. I was helpless, in a lot of pain, and he even had to tie my shoe at one point. I think he helped me self medicate. Oh, but I digress, they sucked live.
Friday Night Punk- Joyful Noise
I’m not dead edition.
“Hava Nagila” (I’ve never heard of them before, but what the hey)
Sorry for my absence, but “the contract that would not die” is actually coming to a close. The IAF officers have been in town for a week, and I have two more weeks of testing to perform. I haven’t had a chance to keep up on current events, so I won’t even try.
It also turns out that there’s a very real chance that the resident athiest might be the first ConClub member to take a trip to the Holy Land… for two months.
Lucky me.
I need a drink.
Friday Night Punk Goes To the Movies
Andre’s Infidel Babe of the Day edition.
“Hedwig and the Angy Inch”
Friday Night Punk- Dropkick Murphys
Mittens, we hardly knew ye edition.
“State of Massachusetts”
Maybe now you can revert to your real self… whatever that may be.
Another song for the man I wasted my vote on after the fold.
Read the rest of this entry
Friday Night Punk- AFI
John McCain will probably be your nominee edition.
“The Days of The Phoenix”
Dedicated to the fine folks over at The Corner. I must admit, watching their collective freak-out has been fun.
FNP II
My first (and probably only) contribution to Friday Night Punk. This is the Dropkick Murphys from the movie The Departed. I think it’s cool. The movie is great. Since grandma was from Ireland it must speak to the Irish in me.
Friday Night Punk- The Pogues
Happy fecking Christmas edition.
“Fairytale of New York”
BTW, The BBC (always a ConClub fave) tried to edit out a certain word from The Defiant One’s favorite Christmas song for the first time this year. Fortunately, they blinked under pressure (including from punk-loving gay folks like me who were far more offended by censorship than the dreaded “other F-word”).
FNP – Juvenile edition
This was actually ‘popular’ at one time, if you can believe it. Certainly brings back a bit of nostalgia to hear it again.
I Saw Your Mommy by Suicidal Tendencies
Friday Night Punk- Flogging Molly
Where’s Dave edition
“Drunken Lullabies”
Don’t let the whole “Joy Division” thing keep you from posting, Dave!
FNP
Joy Division – Love will tear us apart
Posted purely for the benefit of diversity. After the suicide of their lead singer, this band went on to become New Order. Some people think this song is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Me? I’m not so sure.
Friday Night Punk- The Dead Milkmen
I think it’s rather obvious edition.
“If You Love Somebody, Better Set Them On Fire”
This is the best version I could find.
Dedicated to the mf’ers who started several of these fires. I hope you are well “loved” in prison after they catch you.
Friday Night Punk- Monster Squad
Why I handed off to Dave edition
“All These Things”
I just wanted to post some real hard core punk. Of course, watching this I realize that if I tried to go to a real punk show now, I’d be the out of place, creepy old guy. Sigh.
The Downfall of the Traditional Family
As I often say, just for fun. A little Panic! At the Disco:
You heard it here first.
FNP
A little bit different feel this evening.
Death or Glory – by The Clash
Surfer Girl - by Home Grown
FNP
Let’s just say we at Conclub play fast and loose with what is considered ‘punk’ and what is not. What is interesting is that true punk lasted less than a decade (and that’s a stretch) . The tempo was quickened and it became thrash in America and continued to warp quickly into a variety of genres including ‘speed metal’, ‘death metal’, ’alternative’ and ‘New Wave’ for example. Yet it’s appeal and the dramatic change it had on culture and the music scene (remember disco?) is undeniable. Bands of the modern era continue to mention it in their songs and admit its influence on their music. As a cultural and societal phenomenon it’s impact (both good and bad) will be felt for some time.
“Diamonds and Guns” by the Transplants put to video from Resevoir Dogs
A little bit of something for everyone I guess.
Friday Night Not Punk- TOOL
I am suffering from withdrawal after handing the mantle to Dave (BTW, you don’t need to call it “Dave Edition” anymore) so the videos of two of my favorite songs from my favorite band (and they’re not even punk)…
“Prison Sex”
and “Ænima“
FNP – Dave Edition
Another double dose of FNP for your listening ‘pleasure’.
Agent Orange – I’m Too Young To Die
Black Flag – Nervous Breakdown put to video from Falling Down
FNP – Dave Edition
Tonights Friday Night Punk is dedicated to perhaps the most famous of second wave Punk bands, the Dead Kennedys. I had the interesting experience of attending a speech/activism presentation by Jello Biagra at CSU with my brother many years ago. Jello had already left DK and billed himself as some sort of ideological/philosophical punk sage for the disenchanted, disenfranchised youth of the Western world. I was expecting some actual deep thought and interesting in-depth sharing of his views. Instead I received awkward poetry reading, a bunch of anti-Christian and anti-Bible rantings (he really hated the Bible Superstore in Ft. Collins for some reason, I can only suppose it was because they sold Bibles) , a shallow vision of an anti-capitalist crypto-anarchist future utopia, none to subtle hints to the audience to engage in acts of sabotage against ‘the system’ and society, and this great quote:
“Wouldn’t it be great if you could just go up to anyone, male or female, and say ‘do you want to have sex’. No? Well, then can we at least be friends ?’ “

FNP – Dave Edition
As someone who was never a ‘punker’ nor a serious follower of punk music it is somewhat ironic that I have at least partially inherited FNP for Conclub. What is even more interesting is that I generally mock any musician who is out to try and spread some sort of political/ideological message with their music. That said I must say that as a genre I like more punk music and bands than just about any type of music. This probably is partially due to the influences of various family and friends. For example my brother was a big DRI fan ‘back in the day’ and my cousin was a devoted follower of the Suicidal Tendencies. I was a child of the eighties and such groups as Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Violent Femmes, DRI, Dead Kennedys, Agent Orange and a host of lesser known bands were all the rage. The alternative was such New Wave bands as Depeche Mode or the Heavy Metal Hair Bands or pop singers like Paula Abdul. As my debut post I’d like to return to one of the classic pioneer punk bands of the late seventies, The Sex Pistols.
Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the UK
And since this is my first FNP edition we’ll make it a double feature. Here’s a song by Suicidal Tendencies that always makes me grin.
Friday Night Punk- Dead Kennedys
Riding off into the sunset edition.
It turns out that there are some grade-A videos of studio sessions of what many, myself included, consider the greatest punk band of all time recording one of their best albums, “In God We Trust” (via Sadly, No!).
What better way to end the regular feature that was Friday Night Punk? When I get the urge I will post more mosh-pitting, crowd-diving fun. Just not every week. If you want to see more, YouTube has lots of goodies!
And just for good measure, a little Green Day, filmed downtown in my beloved San Diego:
Friday Night Punk- FOB
Covering one eye as I type edition. Sorry it’s the third time I posted them, but I just want to go to bed, and this is what I’m listening to at the moment. :)
I just spent the evening at the going away party for our team’s best programmer, who is the sole individual that understands about 30% of our software. This pretty much makes me the best programmer we have. Our company is screwed on so many levels.
Friday Night (sort of) Punk: XTC
This is an insanely early 1977 video of them playing Neon Shuffle. Safe to say they never got this wild again after 1980.
Saturday Morning Punk- Bowling For Soup
(WordPress was fubar last night)
“Punk Rock 101″
If I had a nickel for every time I was asked how I could love punk rock with zero tattoos or piercings… well, I’d have about a buck fifty.
My Humble Contribution to FNP
(As one) I have to admit the drummer it definitely ‘tight’.
The Exploited Montreal Riot
Friday Night Punk: Ted Leo & the Pharmacists
Not sure if this qualifies as punk or not, but this is one of my favorite bands, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, called Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone. It’s awesome.
Friday Night Punk- The Sex Pistols
“God Save the Queen”
One of the best punk songs ever, so no intro necessary.
I will admit that I am running out of good bands that actually did videos.
Friday Night Punk- Mojo Nixon
“Elvis is Everywhere”
I was digging through my CD collection looking for some Tommy Makem, and came across this CD I hadn’t thought about in, oh, fifteen years or so.
Good times.
Friday Night Punk- A Perfect Circle Covering Black Flag
“Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie”
It’s Nerd Pride Weekend in San Diego edition.
One of the best weekends in San Diego is when my fellow nerds come from around the globe to attend what is, by far, the biggest comic book convention in the world… Comic-Con!
Friday Night Punk- Blink 182
“Adam’s Song”
It’s Gay Pride Weekend in San Diego edition.
I usually hate it when a punk band does a touchy-feely kind of song, but this one somehow always makes me cringe in a different way.
I still remember being sixteen and wishing I could either change or die. Thanks to good friends (including my fellow posters here… even Dave), I learned to be happy and proud of who I was.
I’m sure the local press will do the usual thing of highlighting a few drag queens and guys in leather on the evening news, but “pride” is still important, if only for the kids who are terrified about being who they are. Crappy music and all. (Erasure is the headliner… YUK)
So, sorry Dave, but:

Update: I forgot to mention the video includes Travis, aka the best drummer EVAH! What was I thinking? :)
Friday Night Punk- The Misfits
“American Psycho”
I really thought I might snap and kill someone this week edition.
Just got in, and let me say Philadelphia SUCKED!
Ok, to be fair, the pit (Bristol) I was stuck in sucked. Imagine, if you will, you get sent from distant lands to Denver for work and it turns out you end up in Parker… without a car. The one night I actually went downtown I had a blast. There’s nothing like cursing the Hertz OftenLost wench (I named her Natasha) as she tells you the wrong directions to the gay bar you were told to visit over and over and over, and just as you feel you are about to rip out the damned thing and fling it through the window, you look up and see Independence Hall. That kind of humbles you.
By the by, did I mention that Pennsylvania rivals Utah when it comes to liquor laws? Needless to say, the hotel bar got more of my money then I would like to admit.
Other than that, I haven’t kept up on politics, so I will try to do so shortly. Did anything interesting happen in my absence?
FNP: Against Me
Andre is out of town this week. I think this selection may appeal to him.
Against Me-White People for Peace
Friday Night Punk- Dropkick Murphys
Enough pop punk, how about a little of the hardcore variety!
“Barroom Hero”
Just FYI, I’ll be in Philadelphia for the next week, so light, if any, posting/commenting.
Long Live the Car Crash Hearts
If there’s even a little (pop) punk in you, see FOB the first chance you get.
Oh. My. G-d! Best show I’ve seen in years. Of course the “contact high” I had by the time they took the stage might have helped. A bit.
Update: Oh yeah, +44 was good, too.
Friday Night Punk- Fall Out Boy
“Thnks Fr Th Mmrs”
Posted them already, but I’m going to see them in concert on Sunday, so one more night, one more time.
It’ll be bubble-gum punkalicious!
Friday Night Punk- X
“Hungry Wolf”
Dedicated to my “kids”.
In case you’re curious about my absence, I found out last Friday that one of Bassets has liver cancer (hence no FNP), and today the other had a severe allergic reaction to his vaccines (he’s now fine). Not caring as much about politics as I usually do.
Other than that, things are great.
Re: The Clash
If we are thinking of The Clash, shouldn’t we have some Rock the Casbah.
Marge Simpson to Homer: “It’s our anniversary night. I suppose we should Rock the Casbah.”
Friday Night Punk- The Clash
Phoning it in, because I apparently have “Walking Pneumonia” (again), edition. (London Calling)
I feel icky, but this song always makes me happy.
Friday Night Punk- NOFX
Mary Cheney had a baby edition. (Liza and Louise)
Hopefully her spawn, being both raised by evil homosexuals and bearing the name “Cheney”, will not turn out to be the anti-Christ.
The Spanish subtitles are there for good measure, because “Amnesty” rocks! (I actually think they are Portuguese, but what do I know, I’m just a dumb American)
FNP II- I Guess They Got it Before the Rest of Us
Apparently my misplaced faith will be restored in “September”, when Gen Petraeus will give his report, and all of the GOP stalwarts will come to their senses.
Sometimes I just wish I could stop caring… Still, I mourn the 91 dead so far this month. Must be partisan selfishness.
Happy Memorial Day.
Friday Night Punk- The Pogues
“Body of an American”
Traditional Irish music (complete with accordion and tin whistle), brilliant lyrics, and a lead singer, with the worst teeth on the British Isles, who has never been seen sober in public (even on SNL- notice the cup to his right, which he repeatedly stares at, and picks up at the end of the song)!
How can you go wrong?
Because I think they are even more necessary than usual, the lyrics are after the fold.

Ugh- FNP, Xian Edition
If you want to find a reason to shoot yourself in the head, try typing “Christian Punk” on YouTube and then sit through what you find.
This is my peace offering to Dave, and after a full hour of banging my head on the table, this was the best I could find. I swear… And DAMN, it sucks! Maybe I should have gone with some good old “Petra”!
I can’t even tell if this is really Christian, but the whole “this world” and “through grace” thing makes me think so. But it’s the thought that counts.
Even more Friday Night Punk
Agent Orange – Bloodstains
The only time I ever had a major appendage broken was at an Agent Orange show in Fort Collins, Co at the Starlite.
More Friday Night Punk: TV on the Radio
I didn’t necessarily get it the first time I listened, but upon further review I like this group and their latest album.
Friday Night Punk- Green Day
Lazy Andre edition. I got off of work late and am off to dinner, so I don’t want to prowl YouTube.
I just bought Fall Out Boy’s new album (the one including the song featured last week). While it is incredibly good on its own– I could even see a Grammy nod for Rock Album– it in some odd way reminded me of “Dookie”, the album when Green Day went from hard-core nobodies to mainstream radio fare. They never were the same. It was more than ten years until they released another album that felt like the real them.
Update: After the fold, for Jerry, and dedicated to E… “Good Riddance”!

Friday Night Punk Part Deux- Fall Out Boy
This was the video I was originally going to post tonight, but I was listening to Johnny and decided on him instead. But after reading Dave’s post, I figured what the heck. It’s one of the best punk bands of the last five years, and while my ex would chide me for posting what he would call “Bubble-gum punk”, he has cut off his blue mohawk and is now a sommelier at a fancy restaurant, so who cares what he thinks.
My question to Dave is simple, do you think that teens having sex is a new phenomenon? I can guarantee you that almost all of E’s students have seen this video and know and love this song (though they probably sing it incorrectly… it’s “arms race” not a freakin’ “earthquake”… earthquake doesn’t even make sense!), but the videos from our day were about the same. Of course the Beatles once drove girls crazy, and Elvis before them. What is so hard to understand about the concept of teaching these poor, impressionable kids that what they are feeling is not naughty, or disgusting, but part of being human, and then telling them that abstinence is the best route, but if you do decide to give into the hormones that God gave you, use a condom!
Then again, I believe that Dave thinks the HPV vaccine is nothing more than a gateway drug, so I am probably wasting my keystrokes.
Friday Night Punk- Johnny Cash
Ok, it’s not technically punk, but here’s a side of The Man in Black you have probably not seen before:
Delia’s Gone
And after the fold, he covers a Nine Inch Nails song (his last, and probably best video).

We’re on a Musical Roll
Flight is in six hours, yet I can’t pull myself away…
After trying to hold down my lunch while watch the GOP debate, and the Dems last week, can I nominate DFV for Prez? Please?
I dedicate this to each and every declared candidate:
This song just kept popping into my head last week while watching Hillary/Obama/Edwards, and even moreso tonight.
Some Stuck Mojo is in order!
I thought this weeks installment of ‘Friday Night Punk’ was pretty good but nothing beats the hard hitting message of Stuck Mojo’s open season! This is for Baghdadi and al-Masri.
Friday Night Punk- Bad Religion
I know it’s a little early, but I am off to beautiful Kansas City to utterly destroy some mere mortals at darts. I may comment a bit tomorrow, but you shall not benefit from my nuggets of liberal wisdom again until Monday.
Enjoy your all-conservative weekend, boys!
Friday Night Punk- Rancid
Ruby Soho
Tim Armstrong is one of the yummiest punk rockers EVAH!
Update: I can’t help myself, I’ve had a crush on him since I was a teen… more Tim after the fold.
Sorry, E, but some Dead Milkmen
One more, before I go.
I just needed to smile tonight, and so you not only get some pre-Friday punk, but something from my carefree D&D days.
From Beelezebubba: Punk Rock Girl
NOFX- Friday Night Punk
Since Dave gets his quote of the day:
My new feature: Friday Night Punk!
BOB!
From “White Trash, Two Heebs, and a Bean”
“He spent fifteen years, getting loaded, Fifteen years ’til his liver exploded
Now what’s Bob gonna do, now that he can’t drink?
The doctor said, ‘what you been thinkin’ bout’
Bob said, ‘that’s the point, I don’t think about nothing!
Now I’ve got to do something else!
Oy Oy Oy!’”
Update: The neuvo-racist TBogg usually posts some annoying gay-assed song (as a homo, I’m still allowed to say that without getting fired, right?) on Fridays. But tonight he actually posted a second-rate song from a punk band as his “Friday Night Palate Cleanser”. As always, ConClub is ahead of the curve. For my money, this is a much better song from the same band.
