Dave’s Quote of the Day

“Iran is building a bomb, Syria is murdering its citizens, and the economy is crashing. Yet NBC wants a debate where Republicans attack each other for making money legally. This debate is nonsense and Republicans should stop doing debates on leftist networks. Waterboard Bryan Williams and let’s end this nonsense. It’s like Obama wrote these questions. Republicans never learn.”

Dave’s Quote of the Day

The Democratic Party is very close to being the [Communist-controlled Progressive] party of Henry Wallace… Today’s left sees the world pretty much in the same terms as the Stalinists did. What has happened is that it has lost its faith in the working class, so its agenda is entirely negative. They’ve dropped the dictatorship of the proletariat and they all say they’re democrats, but so did Lenin. The vast bulk of the American left is a Communist left and they’ve introduced some fascist ideas like ‘identity politics,’ which is straight out of Mussolini. They don’t talk about the working class, they talk about women and race. There’s not much that they’ve learned from the history of the 20th century.

I would not normally waste my time writing about someone as insignificant as Janeane Garofalo - much less whatever she thinks about anything. However, I couldn’t resist the temptation this time; her latest pathetic theory represents the worst of left-wing faux-intellectualism; it is indicative of how far into the gutter liberalism in America has fallen.

Weiner fessed up that he had indeed tweeted a bulging-underwear photo of himself to a young woman. “The picture was of me, I sent it,” he told a roomful of reporters. Asked why he initially claimed that his Twitter account had been hacked, Weiner basically said that he was a weenie: “I panicked, and took it down and said that I had been hacked.” Read the rest of this entry

Invoking Hitler

In the past three years I have seen more comments comparing political statesmen to Adolf Hitler than I can count. For a split second I asked myself why, but then remembered an article I read almost 13 years ago that has stayed with me – and with the internet (on it’s original page, no less) to this day. The article was entitled “How to Argue Effectively” and can be found here .

What’s interesting to me is that invoking hitler is mentioned – but it is mentioned as the last resort, the big guns, the end all, be all finisher of arguments. And while the article itself may be satirical in nature, it is evident to me that the latest round of comparisons to Hitler is just that – a last ditch effort at winning an argument destined to fail.

Wisconsin – Union Mob Article and Video Roundup

The ruckus continues in Wisconsin but the tide of public opinion seems to be turning against the mob now occupying the state legislature. The days of stuffing oneself at the public trough have to come to an end and Republican governors and legislatures are watching this play out with interest. If WI Republican governor Scott Walker and an allied legislature are able to de-fang the public unions in a state that helped birth the ‘progressive’ movement then it can be done most anywhere.

“The accelerating clash between the private and public sectors obviously involves ideology, but a lot of it is simple economic combat. You wrestle like a girl

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan (Black, the tournament’s other female entrant) and their accomplishments. However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times. As a matter of conscience and my faith, I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most of the high school sports in Iowa.”

That was the statement released by Iowa homeschooler Joel Northrup after giving up his chance for the state title by refusing to wrestle a girl and forfeiting the match. I guess I kind of have to agree with him personally. If I were put in his place I’d be like “are you fricking kidding me?” Now I’m all for wrestling around with girls but generally speaking not in this particular manner. And grabbing some girls crotch and other sensitive areas on a mat surrounded by hundreds of cheering people may be your idea of a good time but would make me feel a bit uncomfortable.

And can you imagine the poor idiot whose life would be forever ruined if he were to in fact really lose to a girl wrestler? Whoever came up with this idea must really hate high school males with psychopathic passion. Some may choose to disagree with me but the endless attempts to erase the differences between genders does grow tiresome. I’d be just as disgusted at any attempts to let a male join an all female volleyball league or pom pom squad. I’m just sayin’.

Argentina Holds Confiscated U.S. Air Force Cargo

Argentina may be the home of my favorite writer of all time (Jorge Luis Borges), as well as the home of tango, but it is also run by an incompetent boob by the name of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, wife of the late Néstor Kirchner, a leftist who managed to not do too much damage to the republic.

Unfortunately, she has decided to pick a fight with the United States over cargo they allowed into the country.  This would not end well for the Argentines under a competent leader, but since we’re stuck with the current POTUS, all bets are off.

A day of deadly knife violence in the US

Four people are dead and five injured after the most deadly weekend of US knife violence in recent memory.

  • There is no background check required to buy a knife. Criminals and mentally disturbed persons are not prohibited from owning them.

New Yorker Maksim Gelman went on a stabbing spree Saturday in New York, killing four and injuring two more.

  • There is no waiting period to buy a knife.

He had six knives with him during the day.

  • There is no limit on the number of knives a person can buy or own in the US.

Gelman fatally stabbed his stepfather, his ex-girlfriend, and her mother.

  • There is no license or training required to own a knife.

When arrested, Gelman had a 10-inch knife in his possession.

  • There is no limit on the length of the knife that a person may own.

In another incident, William Pittel used a knife to stab three individuals in a Burger King restaurant in Sayreville, New Jersey on Saturday for no apparent reason.

  • The only purpose of a knife is to kill people. These victims would still be alive or out of the hospital if sensible knife control measures were enacted. We need to get these knives off the street.

What happened in New York and New Jersey on Saturday was a tragedy, but it could have been perpetrated just as easily by a hammer or a length of rebar or bare fists…or a gun. Legislation will never prevent this type of attack. Responsible armed citizens can, though.

Video: Common Cause protests include calls to lynch Clarence Thomas

Here at Constitution Club we do our best to parade the endless hypocrisy of the Left out for everyone to see. If you remember back just a few short weeks ago that Gov. Palin and a variety of conservative talk show hosts, as well as the Tea Party, were directly and pointedly accused of a large variety of despicable acts. They were accused of using hateful and violent vitriol that created the climate of violence directly resulting in the attempted assassination of a sitting congressperson. And that wasn’t an accusation merely peddled by a few on the fringe but boldly and proudly shouted from the rooftops in a coordinated effort from progressives at opednews.com, huffintonpost.com, all over facebook, pandagon.net and the usual suspects at Code Pink and Moveon.org.

Following the initial onslaught, and the discovery that the perpetrator of said shooting was actually far more Left-wing than Right, the mantra for the need for a new cult of civility, brotherly love, and the “toning down of rhetoric” (meaning sit down and shut up if you don’t like Obama, big government, and political correctness) was soon the mating call of the Left and their allies in the media. But, as you’ll see here, much hypocritical garbage was as shallow as it was silly, and explicitly designed to merely mute the Right while emboldening the Left.

The Left and progressivism is an ideology dominated with an almost palpable hatred of many people and many things. It drives them, it fuels their fire, and is quite disturbing to see at times. They say they practice the politics of hope but as you can see, it is truly the politics of hate.

Can you imagine the media firestorm if similar racist things had been uttered at a Tea Party rally, even if just by a few? The non-stop outrage and media coverage would be incredible. Instead, we can hear the crickets chirping. What a mockery they make of objectivity and journalistic integrity.

“Everybody does it? Think it through and you will see that this is a stunning indictment of the American left. To begin with, it is not true that everybody does it. As we noted yesterday, the formerly mainstream media have spent the past two years trying to depict the Tea Party as precisely the sort of racist, hateful, violent political movement that Common Cause appears in the video to be. That media effort has failed, not for lack of will but for lack of evidence. If everybody did it, the Tea Party would do it, and if the Tea Party did it, you would have read about it in the New York Times.”

“So here we have a corporation that advertises itself as a ‘grassroots organization’ while exercising its First Amendment rights to advance the position that corporations do not have First Amendment rights, only individuals do. Some individuals, participating in the corporation’s ‘grassroots’ rally, exercise their First Amendment rights in ways that harm the corporation’s image. The corporation responds by exercising its First Amendment rights to denounce those individuals for having exercised their First Amendment rights. And it does in its capacity as a faceless corporation, by issuing a statement for which no individual–not even CEO Bob Edgar–takes responsibility.”

“For the sake of truth in advertising, Common Cause should change its name to Hypocrisy Hub.”

- James Taranto (Everybody does it? Really?)

VMI Celebrates Muslim Invasion, Brutal 781-year Occupation of Spain

There are no words…

This is what happens when the cult of “tolerance, diversity, sensitivity, and multiculturalism” begins to capture the military related institutions of this country. They’ve already captured the colleges, entertainment, and the media, and the rest of our societal and cultural institutions are under full-scale assault. We all sneer at political correctness and the ‘isms’ of the Left that accompany it but it is deadly serious struggle we are engaged in. It is gut-wrenching to watch a culture and a people begin to slit their own throats and surrender on all fronts. As conservatives we see these attacks on common sense, our heritage, and our culture coming. We warn against it, rail against it, and predict the eventual outcome of it, but for whatever reason we seem to be helpless to prevent these things from happening. In this never-ending culture war, that the Left has declared and the Right is forced to fight, conservatives are always losing unless they win and liberals are always winning unless they lose. We have traveled that far down a dangerous path that eventually only leads to damnation and ruin.

Progressivism is the most insidious of fifth columns that undermines the traditions and institutions that once made this country great. It is really an amazing thing to watch as one by one the dominoes are toppled as the Left continues to wage its ruthless ideological war on all that is true, right, decent, moral, and rooted in tradition, religion, and Western culture.

VMI Celebrates Muslim Invasion, Brutal 781-year Occupation of Spain

Stonewall Jackson is rolling over in his grave.

Next month his beloved Virginia Military Institute will be convening a celebration commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Spain under the Muslim warlord Tariq ibn Ziyad in 711 A.D. The March 23-25 celebration entitled “711-2011: East Meets West” and organized by VMI’s Center for Leadership and Ethics, is scheduled to feature standard Muslim apologists Reza Aslan and Akbar Ahmed. VMI Superintendent Gen. J.H. Binford Peay has even filmed an invitation to the celebration.

No word if VMI’s World War II commemoration will be entitled “Germany meets Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Belgium, France, Norway, The Netherlands and Russia”.

Event organizers describe the event as follows:

We celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Tariq ibn Ziyad’s crossing of the Straits of Gibraltar, setting into motion the fusion between two worlds.  The agenda will tell the vital story of the achievements when Muslims, Christians, and Jews thrived side by side in Western Europe, building a society that lit the Dark Ages. Experts will discuss how to transform education, promote tolerance, political reform, and advance human development so that we can emulate the spirit and triumphs of the early years.

Dave’s Quote of the Day

“They don’t like the truth so they summarily dismiss it. They say it’s a government takeover of healthcare. A big lie just like [Nazi propaganda minister Joseph] Goebbels. You say it enough and you repeat the lie, repeat the lie, repeat the lie until eventually people believe it. Like blood libel, that’s the same kind of thing. The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it, and you have the Holocaust. You tell a lie over and over again.”

-Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen (Tenn.) on the House floor Tuesday night comparing Republican claims about the healthcare reform law to lies perpetrated by the Nazis that led to the Holocaust.

So much for that whole “lets all be civil, tone down the rhetoric” crap the Left has been peddling lately. What a bunch of lame, ridiculous, whining hypocrites.

If he feels this strongly about lies, he’s just got to feel horrendously awful about how his ideological allies have been treating Sarah Palin over the last week and a half. I eagerly await his indignant speech on the House floor in regards to the libel, slander, and yes lies directed at her in such a hateful manner.

Dave’s Quote of the Day

“The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information. [Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences.

The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about. You can say, ‘Oh no, it doesn’t,’ but my opinion is that it does.”

The hypocrisy of the Left in the face of tragedy

The absolute hatred that spewed forth from the Left for eight long years during the Bush administration can’t even be touched by anything the Right has come forth with in the last two. The Left is awash with hypocrisy if they attempt to lecture conservatives on “toning down the rhetoric.” Such silliness would be sad if it wasn’t so devious and underhanded. Liberals threw out polite political discourse many years ago so I guess we were just all stunned to hear them suddenly clamoring for such a thing this morning. What a shock that they suddenly had a Paul-on-the-road-to-Damascus moment.

Playing the blame game with the Arizona shootings

I’ll be very honest. Conservatives have a low regard for liberals because of the types of comments as we have seen over the last 24 hours in regards to the tragedy in Arizona. This was a tragedy totally outside the realm of cheap political potshots. When the gutter-licking Left tries to turn tragedies like this into some sort of anti-Palin, anti-Fox News, anti-Limbaugh and Beck, or anti-Tea Party (or whatever) political statement we should all be extremely disgusted at such pathetic attempts to smear an opponent with the blood of real people and real victims. And frankly, shame on all those who are acting this way today. Disgusting, uncalled for, a devious and obvious lie, and very disrespectful for the victims that were injured or killed yesterday. I was saddened to see such references already floating around today. Shame on the Left for engaging in such behavior.

The Constitution is dead. Long live the Constitution.

David Harsanyi comments on the malleability of our beloved Constitution, as well as what a complete idiot Ezra Klein made of himself stating that “…the issue with the Constitution is not that people don’t read the text and think they’re following it. The issue with the Constitution is that the text is confusing because it was written more than a hundred years ago.” This is but one of a thousand examples as to why I don’t take liberal arguments seriously.

Useful Idiots, PBS Edition

It really shouldn’t boggle the mind that PBS is blatantly to the left of anything mainstream in America.  What’s particularly galling, however, is their adoration for a vicious cretin like Fidel Castro, and the heaps of praise they give for a health system that no sane person would believe is anywhere near the quality of the United States.  Thanks to truly useful idiots like Ray Suarez, the once-venerable public television station continues to see its credibility get eroded.

Worldwide terror: Stockholm bombs show global reach of militant Islam

It gets worse and worse for Muslims of good will to have to apologize for the monsters in their midst who wreak havoc in the West.  It is bad enough to see innocents in the so-called Ummah getting slaughtered by savages.  It’s a whole other problem with Muslims bring their cancers to our lands.  Most come to make a life for themselves and their families, to adapt and assimilate, and to be left alone when they worship.  Their bad apples need to be gotten rid of, and harshly, if good will is to be completely restored between Muslim and Westerner.

Welcome to the deep south.  That’s right.  Where the hospitality flows and nothing is ever negative, it’s just ‘special’, or ‘lovely’.  (“What do you think of this?” … “Oh, isn’t that lovely, dear.”)

Being the parent of three extremely extroverted kids, I often find myself struggling with the idea of being over-protective.  Yes, that’s right, I’m the one who won’t let the kids go out and play in the street unsupervised even though my parents did it.  I’m the one who makes sure that they are strapped into the all but bulletproof car seats in the safest cars with the bulletproof glass and tinted windows.  I’m the one who won’t let the kids get into the back of the truck to ride down to the pond even though I recall falling out of the truck several times as a kid.  (“Mom, I fell out of granddad’s truck on the way to the pond. It hurt.”  “Oh, isn’t that lovely, dear?”)

Most days I endure the comments.  “Oh, I understand why you won’t let your kids come over to spend the night. It’s fine, no really.. it’s lovely.”

Then there are days where I come to work and my colleague says “hey did you hear about..”, and suddenly I am justified.  Yes, welcome to the deep south, where rolling just isn’t how they roll anymore.

I hilite the “yea””s for a reason. Wannna guess what it is? OK, I’ll give one clue. Democrats passed this thing 51-12. Without one single Republican needing to vote, they passed it. The military didn’t like it, the gay community didn’t like it, no one liked it. The Democrat controlled House, the Democrat controlled Senate, and the Democrat President rammed it through anyway. According to Clinton, it wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Media pretty much ignored “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” for a while until it became expedient. Over time, it became purely a Republican issue as the Republicans did exactly as the Democrats did years before and effectively ignored it. The media bias culminated itself this year when Lady Gaga chastised Republicans for talking about filibustering the bill that would eliminate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell:
http://abcnews.go.com/assets/player/walt2.6/flash/SFP_Walt.swf

“I will not stop calling until I reach them to tell them to vote with Sen. Harry Reid to end John McCain’s ‘shameless filibuster,’” she said.

She then calls two Democrats who refuse to take her call. There was no filibuster, Harry Reid never sent it to the floor. The gays returned to attacking the hell out of Republicans only even though the Democrats once again had all the votes they needed to pass the legislation to end it. All the while, no one was mentioning the fact that a lawsuit was working it’s way through the legal system to undo what Bill Clinton and the Democrats did in 1993. It wasn’t filed by Lady Gaga. It wasn’t filed by any Democrat. It was filed by the Log Cabin Republicans. And then a weird thing happened. They won. Republicans, who controlled nothing in DC, did what Harry Reid refused to do. They ended “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. The Obama administration thought about it for a couple of days. And, knowing how the gays felt about DADT, had this to offer:

WASHINGTON — After two days of silence, the Obama administration urged a federal judge on Thursday to let the military press on with its “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on gays serving openly in the military. Still, President Barack Obama insisted the policy that has divided the nation for two decades “will end on my watch.”

The Pentagon said the military “will of course obey the law” and halt enforcement while the case is still in question. But gay rights advocates cautioned gay service members to avoid revealing their sexuality in the meantime.

A federal judge abruptly threw out the Clinton-era ban on Tuesday, setting in motion a legal, political and human-rights back-and-forth that put the administration on the spot just two weeks before crucial midterm elections. Obama has consistently argued against the ban, approved by Congress in 1993. But he says it is up to Congress to repeal it.

The policy, summed up as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” refers to guidance that gay or lesbian Americans can serve in the military but not openly. Their superiors are forbidden to ask about sexual orientation, but service members can be thrown out or denied enlistment if they talk about being gay or let it be known that they engage in homosexual acts.

Obama’s Justice Department asked U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips to stay her ruling that overturned the ban while the government prepares a formal appeal. Asking the judge for a response by Monday – “given the urgency and gravity of the issues” – the government said that suddenly ending the ban would be disruptive and “irreparably harm the public interest in a strong and effective military.”

Obama, challenged Thursday at a town hall meeting by a Howard University faculty member who questioned his “alleged commitment to equality for all Americans, gay and straight,” said his stance has not wavered. He can’t end the ban with the stroke of a pen, he said, but “we’re going to end this policy.”

You read that right. The Obama Administration is asking for a delay in the ruling so the Obama Administration can prepare an appeal to the ruling. They wanna fight it. So, even though the Democrats wrote DADT, passed DADT, have ruled over DADT for nine of the seventeen years it’s been existance, refused to vote to end DADT, and now are fighting legally to keep DADT, I bet you good money there won’t be a single liberal gay person come out and point their finger where the problem is, has been, and continues to be. If they do, I’d love to see their comments here. The reason DADT has survived all these years considering no one seems to like it is because the Democrats know they won’t be held accountable for it so no need to antagonize their moderate to conservative base, and the Republicans know that no matter what they do they won’t get any credit so they have no reason to antagonize their base either. When media and gays become less partisan and more objective then maybe they’ll get what they want.

Until then, they’ll have to keep relying on the Republicans. It’s a core issue with Republicans in a way most people don’t really think about. In expecting the government to protect a minority, the government has to do it in a way that is equitable to all people affected by the minority. Sometimes that doesn’t necessarily work to the minority’s advantage. By NOT recognizing the minority as a minority, it removes the issue of being a minority and allows the issues that affect that minority to be addressed. There is no reason to protect gays in the military. They are already protected by our Constitution. What needs to be protected are the rights gays have as US citizens. When that occurs, gays will have all the same rights as anyone else in the military and I am quite sure that would make everyone happy. Repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell therefore is kind of moot to me. What needs to happen is all references to discriminating on the basis of sexual preferance need to be eliminated. I really don’t buy the argument that it would be disruptive to the military at all. Obama may want you to believe that, but I don’t.

Cyberwar: Round 1 Goes To The West…

Gregg Keizer and Richi Jennings writing over at Computerworld have noted the negative impact on Iran’s nuclear program of a raging Stuxnet infection. (Perhaps Helena, MT’s progressive superintendent needs to move to Iran where they’re more tolerant of unpopular mandated lessons–but about computer security–not teaching little kids about sex!)

More than a decade ago think tankers began seriously considering cyberwar. (see the Wikipedia entry here.) Sci-fi authors have been bantering about it since the 60s and probably even earlier. One might even go so far as to argue that Orwell’s Big Brother is more akin to the ubiquitous, massively parallel information-based societies of America, Japan, S. Korea, Germany, France, Canada, Great Britain, and many others, including tiny Israel, than to any group of secret human spies. When I was building an Army website in 2005 I suggested the need for a DoD branch dedicated to information security (beyond the charter of the NSA). The Pentagon finally created Cyber Command this May.

Constitutionality, Christianity, Progressivism And The Captive Poor

I wrote this in an email the other day and everyone told me to publish it, so here it is with very minimal editing.

We, the people, must recognize that our two major parties have been co-opted at their highest levels. They no longer prove themselves to support the Constitution. Instead they advance agendas that should deeply concern anyone who understands what our constitution says and why.

John Adams once said, “Our constitution is only fit for a moral and religious people. It is wholly unsuited to the governance of any other kind” because the Constitution contained no controls over those who would reject morality and decency in favor of hedonism and self-indulgence. It also contains no controls, talis qualis, that are, or ever would be, strong enough to defeat progressivism which seeks to ignore it (or for that matter Sharia law which would supplant it). Only the vigilance of a stubborn and well-informed citizenry can do that!

Sex Education, Social Engineering, Progressive Politics And The Rainbow Agenda

I personally home schooled my daughter through 7th grade and my son through 6th. She is positioned to be the valedictorian of her school next year and hopes to go into law or medicine. As an 11th grader, she claims to be the ONLY virgin she knows of in her entire high school (of over 1000 students). Her 8th grade brother is an honor student taking both regular and advanced classes despite profound dyslexia. He, too, is proud to be a virgin. Referring to his classmates, he says “most of them” are sexually active. What difference did an abstinence-based (home schooling) curriculum make in their lives? I believe it made all the difference! By far the best place to give children a healthy understanding of the proper role of sex in their lives is in their own homes.

Helena Sex Ed Curriculum (barely) Revised…

Helena, MT (ConClub) – The Helena School District’s feeble attempts to quell widespread public opposition to teaching a gay activist/liberal/progressive sex-ed program beginning in kindergarten and including homosexuality from the outset, represent too little in the way of real, substantive change. Thus, they have categorically failed to impress what turned out to be a small army of local critics here. A well attended meeting hosted by Helena Youth Advocates (HYA), a grassroots organization comprised largely of concerned parents was held at the Public Library this evening. As well as vocal parents, it appeared to include opposition activists, politicians and even one teacher (who wishes to remain anonymous for obvious reasons).

That Bush wrecked the economy pushing two wars myth

The prevailing story that liberals have hung their hat on for the last couple of years is Obama can’t win because he was strung with funding two wars. No economy can sustain that. Case closed. Sounds simple enough. Numbers should back that one up, right?

Look close at that again. Make sense? Try again. Without going into a whole lot of detail, quite simply, in his first year, Barack Obama spent more on his stimulus than the entire Iraq War. The CBO puts the actual cost of the Iraqi war at $709 billion. Not the $3 trillion cited by Obama.

It’s not that he was slightly wrong on an estimate or anything, he was way off. No one has a clue where that number came from. That amounts to about $100 billion a year. To put it in perspective, his stimulus plans have accounted for about $800 billion. A year. All those wonderful things he could have done with that $3 trillion never would have existed. He lied to you.

To put it in proper perspective, his one year of stimulus cost us more than the entire eight years of the Iraq War. Raise your hands, how many people benefited from the stimulus? We could have benefitted probably, but his special interests got it first. I’m not in a union, it didn’t do squat for me.

If we couldn’t afford those wars, then it’s obvious we can’t afford Obama.

That vast right-wing anti-mosque conspiracy

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,”

In my case, unfortunately, it’s not been funded. 2/3′s of the country has issues with this project. That’s why Nancy Pelosi hears about it everywhere she goes. That very simple concept is well beyond her grasp apparently.

Obama supports the 911 Mosque

“As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,”

“That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,” he said. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”

There has to be someone out there who is surprised by this.  2 in 10 New Yorkers polled supported the idea of the Cordoba House.  73% of all polled opposed it.  Blacks, whites, males, females, latinos, you name it, they opposed it.  So, as usual, Obama disregards the will of the majority to assert a moral opinion that he has some special insight that 73% of the people don’t.  That the same funding mechanism and values that supported killing 3,000 innocent New Yorkers should be accepted by those victims simply because it was done in the name of religion.

Clue here Obama, there’s a bunch of New Yorkers who I don’t think are going to be very tolerant.  I don’t expect them to be.  A good portion of that religion has declared holy wars on the citizens of the United States.  Some people take that seriously.

Others think they can talk their way out of it.

Side note, I’m going to bet this headline alone costs the Democrats 10 more elections.  The rap on Obama was he would be weak on defense.  The very day an aggressive Islamic nation announces they are going nuclear, Obama sells out New York City to Bin Laden.  We are pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan and tossing in Manhatten to boot.  I would hope it would be a lot bigger number than 10, but some people just can’t vote anything but Democrat.

A Liberal bad day

It’s been a strange week. Not that any have been terribly normal since January 2009. First we had Howard Stern trashing Democrats:

To which Robert Gibbs suggested the “professional left” should be drug tested. Howard Stern on drugs? No way.

Also during this day of both Perseids AND a massive CME, Gibbs suggested those same “professional liberals” would only be happy with Dennis Kucinich. Am I supposed to think that’s merely a coincidence? I ain’t buying it.

And to top it all off, Charlie Rangel spent 37 minutes of Congress’s time belaboring everyone that he’s not a criminal, just stupid, and that some simple reprimand’s not a good enough charge, he wants expulsion. He then threw a party. This of course comes on the heels of Nancy Pelosi’s claiming that she had nothing to do with the ethics charges against Rangel or Waters. “Draining the swamp” only applies to conservatives obviously, duh.

Steven Slater then decided to pull the cord and use the chute.

Judge blocks furloughs in California

A judge has blocked the governor’s order of three furloughs per month, the latest effort to conserve the state’s dwindling funds until a new budget is approved.

Alameda County Superior Court Judge Steven Brick said there are “serious questions” connected to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s order last month, and temporarily halted the move until a Sept. 13 hearing. The judge said the furloughs could create irreparable harm to the 156,000 state employees who would lose three paid workdays — or almost 15 percent of their salary — under the order, which would save the cash-strapped state $150 million per month.

This judge came to the incredible epiphany that, oh sheez, this is so complicated I’m sure most everyone will have a very difficult time understanding it. But, I will do my utmost best to word it in such a way that it makes some sense. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Steven Brick came to the conclusion that paying people to work less causes them to not make as much money as they would have. I kid you not, he figured it out. I’m sure he had help since it took him over a year to come that conclusion. But he got it.

Obama’s speech on immigration

Obama just gave a speech on immigration.  I was told it was coming.  He had totally lost the leadership role on the issue and needed to get it back.  So, expect a speech.  Well, we just got it.  He spoke at length on the merits of legal immigrants.  People who moved to the US and made the US a better place, their lives better, and the entire world.  He spoke of the huddled masses who work their fingers to the bone 20 hours every day so their poor but honest children can have a better life.  He spoke of the horrible people trying to take all that away.

What he never mentioned was the drug trafficking, the human trafficking, the murders, the violence, and other stuff that’s gotten so bad his own Homeland Security people decided to put up signs:

Border Sign

The first word on the sign, in big letters, says “DANGER”.  Obama never mentioned the signs.

Joe Biden endorses Jim Yarmouth

Joe Biden, fresh on cussing out a custard man, came to Kentucky to endorse Jim Yarmouth.  Only problem, it’s John Yarmouth:

Along the way, he’s taking credit for creating 800 new jobs at GE over the next two years, hopefully.

That’s wonderful considering GE has cut 19,000 jobs over the last two decades.

However, given the GE CEO passed out from too much heat, at a GE plant, they might want to re-focus that push on washers and dryers and shoot for better air conditioning. But then again, how often do they have to compete with Joe Biden?

Obama and that pesky transparency promise

Obama made transparency a big deal when he was running. The assumption was Bush was making all these backroom deals. I don’t think he was. Call it a hunch. So, Obama, pandering to the masses, promised to tell them everything. That has led to an odd result. First there was Nancy Pelosi’s well informed pitch to pass health care reform legislation:

But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

Pelosi’s so proud of that statement she’s got it on her website.

25 ex-Gitmo Saudis relapse into militancy

This might drive anti-war moon-bats crazy, but the reality is that those militants should have been held indefinitely until the war ended decisively or the military should have done what they needed to do in the field. Like it or not, Guantanamo is not going away. If the POTUS, who ran on a platform of getting rid of it won’t do so, then it’s here to stay. It’s only a shame that we didn’t hold the cretins who ended up going back home and resumed their killing.

Ulf Laessing of The Saudi Gazette has more on this disturbing trend here.

Constitution Death Watch Today

Anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 people showed up for a final ‘kill the bill’ rally today as we stand on the brink of seeing one of the most blatantly intrusive and unconstitutional bills in the history of the Republic pass the House of Representatives. Tonight, many are in front of the Capitol building holding an all night vigil. Chances are the vote will pass so the next step to ponder is what the reaction needs to be. Multiple state attorney generals have lawsuits in place and ready to file as soon as it becomes law. Many states are readying to pass laws that would make it illegal for any entity to require its citizens to purchase health insurance. Others have notified the federal government that they will not cooperate or implement such a scheme if it becomes law. I hope we see massive civil disobedience and non-compliance by businesses and individuals of all kinds. And, of course, every single person who votes for this bill needs to pay with the loss of their congressional seat this fall.

This is just too good. Stop it, you are killing me…Can you imagine how goofy this must be? Guaranteed to get the bile going. This is what happens when hero worship meets absurdity.

From We Are the Schlock We’ve Been Waiting For at Gates of Vienna:

Nearly a year after Barack Obama was sworn in, a musical about him is opening. “Hope — the Obama musical story” makes its world premiere in Frankfurt.

Obamas onstage
LN was so moved by the occasion that he collected some additional material and sent it to us. First, from Der Spiegel:

Wearing a knitted cardigan and crooning into his microphone, Barack Obama paces around the stage, wooing Michelle with a love song. In another number, now clad in a suit, Jimmie Wilson who plays Obama, struts up and down, clasping his mike and leading a euphoric gospel chorus of “Yes We Can.”

Your winnings, sir.

During the Bush administration, the Obama campaign, and the lead up to the election, it seemed like every John Mayer wannabe and artist of any (or no) influence at all would get an idea in their head, sit down and write a song about change, wanting the world to do so, and honesty.  We were tired of Bush and his ‘lies’, tired of such an unjust and misguided war, tired of hearing about cleaning up Washington and ready for to drain the swamp.  Ready for some ACTION.  And now, after all this time, we are finally seeing the results of that action.  This joyous occasion surely calls for a reward.  If only there were one that truly fit the bill.

GOP calls for Harry Reid to step down over remarks

Part of me says that a Republican offensive is just what the doctor ordered in response to Harry Reid’s goofy comments regarding then candidate Obama.  That part of me wants to get back at the Dems for the scores of times that anyone with conservative credentials has been made to feel bad or resign from whatever post they held over remarks that were not cleared by the sensitivity police  at various universities.

And then there is part of me that wonders when and if we will ever get over the nonsensical tit-for-tat in racial politics.  Needless to say, if Reid were speaking of a candidate from a southern state and said that “he did not have a redneck dialect, unless he wanted to have one” this wouldn’t even be an issue.  And isn’t that really the way it should be?

If everytime someone makes  heretical statements regarding race, should they be forced to give up a little something in order to atone for that sin?  And shouldn’t the Republicans want a very unpopular and vulnerable senator to continue holding his post as majority leader heading into an election cycle?  Both he and Pelosi are very good faces to attach to the utter incompetence of the “most ethical Congress in history.”

Which part of me is correct?
