In which philosophical form of government does Barack Obama believe? That has been one of the ongoing debates since he burst upon the national political scene a scant four years ago. Political observers noted he was the most liberal member of the United States Senate, and many believed he was a radical left-wing zealot if [...]

Rule #1 for all conservatives ought to be this: Never let the left frame the debate or define the terms. San Francisco liberals dishonor U.S. Military, show compassion for convicts
Aug 13
In 2005, San Francisco announced their desire to make their little Utopia by the bay a military-free zone, and erase the military’s presence altogether. Their vile contempt for the military is legendary and at times dangerously close to treasonous. They moved from harassing military recruiters to violently shutting down job fairs and anything that included [...]
The Defeat of the Mind
One of the more astute contemporary observers of Western decline is the French writer Alain Finkielkraut. In his 1987 book La Défaite de la Pensée (The Defeat of the Mind), he traces the lineage of the multiculturalist disease, which, he argues, has provided much of the impetus for a widespread abandonment of the intellect throughout the Western world. This stance, and subsequent tracts in the same vein, have earned him near-pariah status among most of the “intellectuals” of Western Europe. Read the rest of this entry

An In-depth Analysis of Lieberman’s Cybersecurity Bill 2011: Giving Birth to Big Brother
An In-depth Analysis of Lieberman’s Cybersecurity Bill 2011: Giving Birth to Big Brother.
After reading the revamped Cyber Security Bill 2011 sponsored by Joe Lieberman (co-sponsored by Senators Rockefeller*, Snowe, Collins, Lieberman & Carper) , shock and anger quickly set in. While the nation has been watching endless news stories about our congressmen quibbling over a measly two trillion dollars, Senator Lieberman has been silently slipping the most treacherous, deceitful & manipulative bill ever created through the Senate. When Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (SCHSGA), first proposed the earlier version of the bill (Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010, S.3480), critics slammed him and it for being too broad in scope and for including a ‘kill switch’ for the Internet- so reminiscent of Hosni Mubarak’s during the Egyptian uprising. Lieberman blithely brushed criticism aside, rejected the idea of a ‘kill switch’ and claimed that… continue reading…

Observe the European Union and Learn- Before it is too Late.
Today, while reading my morning dose of news, I came upon two articles on the European Union’s ‘desperate’ attempts to stop the financial meltdown (which they call a ‘contagion’) of Greece. I knew I would find something there, but the first article only gave the outline of events. So I read the second article. And there it was. Just like I knew it would be. But later about that. Let’s start at the beginning. The article opens with:
“BRUSSELS — Euro zone leaders were set to give their
financial rescue fund sweeping new powers to prevent contagion and help Greece
overcome its debt crisis, according to the draft conclusions of an emergency
summit on Thursday.”
The way I describe ‘instinct’ to my children is to have them imagine two antennae on their foreheads. I tell them, “When they wiggle, trust them. The more you trust them, the better you will come to understand them.” Well. My antennae not only wiggled, but they danced the two-step! “Sweeping new powers”, huh? That is never good. I read on. continue reading..

Gentle Americans, It Is Time To Become A Big Mouth
Gentle Americans, It Is Time To Become A Big Mouth
My friends. I’m calling on all good & normal Americans to pay attention now. Things have gone too far. Our government has left us while we were working so hard to take care of our responsibilities at home. Our government has taken a life of its own- it no longer responds to our wishes. The usurpation of our natural ownership of Government has so deceitfully taken place while our eyes were bent to the plow. Our trust has been violated. No one wants the Government to continue spending our tax money with so much abandon- leaving a debt our children can never pay. No one wants the killing of 24 week old fetuses- or worse, the destruction of full term babies through partial birth abortion. No one wants the indoctrination of our children through our schools & universities. No one wants the crushing of the right to freedom of religious speech. No one wants Obamacare. No one wants our Government to continue forcing us to use expensive products we don’t want to use- as is the case with these new green vehicles and electicity that only they can afford. No one wants more war in the Middle East. No one wants our country to police the other countries.. Continue Reading..

Saving the Spotted Owl
For no reason I know of, the thought of endangered species came to mind on Tuesday morning. Then I saw this article and started wondering about synchronicity. I’m sure it’s just coincidence, but the entire story is so improbable that it seems like an April Fool’s Day joke. I don’t even know whether to laugh or cry or howl in rage.
Back in the late 80s/early 90s, the Great Spotted Owl provided employment for way too many environmental activists and caused unemployment for way too many loggers. We were assured that if the logging industry would stop cutting down trees, the Spotted Owls would come back and everything would be fine. That didn’t happen.
Replacing junk science with real research, we now realize that the Spotted Owl decline had nothing to do with logging and everything to do with its raptor rival, the Barred Owl. It’s bigger and stronger and not so picky about where it nests and hunts. The Spotted Owl can’t compete, so it continues to die out.
The reasonable response to this news by the environmental activists would be, “Oh, we’re sorry, we were mistaken. Go ahead and start logging again, and include those 8.6 million acres that we took away from you through the courts.” Ha-ha, silly person, you’re expecting a reasonable response? Think again, and you would never in a million years come up with the real story.
The real story is that there are plans in the works to save the Spotted Owl at any cost, including killing barred owls. This makes absolutely no sense. It’s not like trying to eradicate zebra mussels or protect against Med Flies. The Barred Owl is native to North America, and it is not a pest. Basically they are planning to kill big, strong, beautiful birds who play a vital role in our ecosystem. The government report calls it barred owl management. I call it needless slaughter and animal cruelty.
Here’s an alternative plan: let nature take its course. Back off, get out of the forest, let the Spotted Owl and the Barred Owl compete naturally, and may the best raptor win. According to the report, if we take no further action, we will be saving $147.1 million over 30 years that could better be spent on maintaining bridges or upgrading the national power grid (or building bullet trains). It’s apparent that the Spotted Owls are going to become extinct anyway, because they can’t compete. Hey, it’s survival of the fittest, right?
This brings me back to the point of my initial thoughts on Tuesday. What is the big problem with the extinction of a species like the Great Spotted Owl? If it’s replaced by its bigger, stronger cousin the Barred Owl in a process of natural selection, then the forest becomes a better place with not so many rodent pests running around. How many billion dollars will we spend to keep this bird (or any of several oddly-shaped snails or weirdly-colored mice) alive?
Left wing hate speech in Wisconsin
As usual, the left is the source of the worst kind of hate speech, as demonstrated most recently in Wisconsin. This brings back memories of all the “Bushitler” signs during the “antiwar” demonstrations.
Ask, Confront & Defend
The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is a DISGRACE that cannot stand!
The Left hoped that by defining homosexuality as an orientation that cannot be changed, rather than a chosen behavior as has been recognized for millenia, they could exploit the goodwill of the civil rights struggle. Civil rights, like feminism, is a positive philosophy when promulgated by persons of integrity with no hidden agendas. However, those of us who were around in those times, or who study real history, know there were many communists and America-haters therein marching with genuine people of good will. It is not the conservatives with resume credits we hear from today, but Charlie Rangel and Jesse Jackson – those who exploit their past. They are exploiters first, and not those persons of consistent character.

The War on the Happy Meal
McDonald’s suit over Happy Meal toys by California mom Monet Parham new low in responsible parenting
“Because of McDonald’s marketing, [her daughter] Maya has frequently pestered Parham into purchasing Happy Meals, thereby spending money on a product she would not otherwise have purchased.”
How whiny and pathetic do you have to be to have to file a lawsuit against McDonald’s in hope that might stop your kid from eating one? It’s called ‘free enterprise’ and though some may complain about the type of tactics used to get Reid votes in Nevada and kids to want to go to McD’s, the former if far more harmful than the latter.

Helena Sex Ed Curriculum (barely) Revised…
Helena, MT (ConClub) – The Helena School District’s feeble attempts to quell widespread public opposition to teaching a gay activist/liberal/progressive sex-ed program beginning in kindergarten and including homosexuality from the outset, represent too little in the way of real, substantive change. Thus, they have categorically failed to impress what turned out to be a small army of local critics here. A well attended meeting hosted by Helena Youth Advocates (HYA), a grassroots organization comprised largely of concerned parents was held at the Public Library this evening. As well as vocal parents, it appeared to include opposition activists, politicians and even one teacher (who wishes to remain anonymous for obvious reasons).

Obama wants to know if you are fat
New federal regulations issued this week stipulate that the electronic health records–that all Americans are supposed to have by 2014 under the terms of the stimulus law that President Barack Obama signed last year–must record not only the traditional measures of height and weight, but also the Body Mass Index: a measure of obesity.

Ah! Vindication is sweet. Just eight months after the ClimateGate scandal hit the news, the Global Warming community rolls up the last of three investigations, all of which show nothing untoward occurred. First, the University Of East Anglia, ground zero in the big leak, investigated the University Of East Anglia and determined that nobody did nothing wrong. Then Penn State, home of Hockey Stick Michael Mann, investigated Penn State and found that Penn State was blameless. Now “The Independent Climate Change E-mails Review”, commissioned (and paid for) by – The University of East Anglia – has decided the flap was all a tempest in a tea pot.
Well, that’s a relief!
Now that we’ve swept all the messy scandal stuff under the academic carpet we can get to the real problem: Democracy!

I have always heard that history repeats itself because no one listened the first time around, and today I have found additional evidence to support that claim. Scroll through some of the Time magazine covers, specifically from 1976-1980 and take a look at the headlines, the people, the concerns of the day. From socialism to the war on terror – it’s all there in vivid color. I recommend starting here and moving forward for a really interesting look at, well… Time.
The Kicker of St. John’s Wood: A Book Review
A rational person in a rational world should be able to say that the premise and storyline of the latest book by author Gary Wolf is silly, ridiculous, and prone to flights of fancy. Unfortunately, in the first decade of the 21st century the subject matter and conjecture found in the pages of The Kicker of St. John’s Wood is not so far-fetched and is indeed instead a remarkably accurate and reflective look at the forces, feelings and mindset of the modern-day Left.

Card check personified
For better or worse, one of the results of living in the digital age today is that there is no political speech, no event, and no rally that is attended solely by “your kind.” There are always going to be political operatives lurking at political events with a camera attempting to capture that ‘gotcha’ moment. Matt Milner is one of those operatives for the Colorado Republican party.
At an AFL-CIO townhall event here in Denver, Senator Michael Bennet was the guest speaker. He was being “tracked” by Milner. Then the goons came out:
The 5-foot-6-inch Milner found himself surrounded as the event wound down, he said.
“This hulking guy comes flying at me, and he’s yelling ‘Who are you with?’ There’s a flurry of F-words,” Milner said. “They circled around me. I’d try to move, and they’d move to block my path.”
Cerbo, one of the five men who spoke to Milner after Bennet’s speech, disputed that version of events Sunday. He said the young interloper was aggressive and tried to provoke a confrontation, though he declined to say how.
“He came in uninvited. . . . I’d call him a trespasser,” Cerbo said. “He didn’t get the incident he wanted, so he’s clearly lying about what happened.”
By Cerbo’s recollection, Milner offered to erase his tape because he hadn’t been invited to the event. Milner says he was barred from leaving until he agreed to erase the recording and that one of the men briefly took his camera to make sure it was.
So at a public union gathering, thugs surround a guy and make him erase his video of our own Senator. What do you suppose will happen when these same goons hand someone a card to sign?
Employee free choice my ass!
Earth day: so the self-important can feel good

An Infidel babe of the day?
I despise being told what I should care about and I hate the notion that someone elses alarmist rhetoric is my problem. That is why I hold earth day and global warming nutjobs in rational contempt. Perhaps the greatest marketing coup over the past decade has come from the Al Gores of the world convincing us all that we are in immenent danger from environmental catastrophe. Somehow they have managed to convince the self-loathing western democracies that their behavior needs to change. In reality, they are convincing the west to commit political, social and economic suicide. They are impolitely asking the west to step aside so the third world can assume the role of polluters, population boomers, and economic leaders. And why? Because we should have some guilt complex associated with our polluting habits.
But the reality is often quite different from the truth. I would say that the environmental stewardship of our own ‘Farmer Dave’ or fisherman Hairy Beast is equal to that of the self-annointed nannies. And despite the notion that only aggressive economic engineering at the hands of the social democracies of the world can save mother earth, I believe that capitalism has done quite well. Consider the following editorial in IBD:
Buried beneath all the badgering and fear-mongering about lavish Western lifestyles is a reality that the stuck-on-green left won’t talk about and the average American isn’t aware of: The world, especially in developed nations, is a cleaner — and greener — place than it was when the environmental movement began.
Every year Steven Hayward, a scholar at the Pacific Research Institute and the American Enterprise Institute, compiles his Index of Leading Environmental Indicators. And every year, his findings contradict the alarmists’ warnings that the world is on the edge of environmental cataclysm.
From evidence “that tropical rain forests may now be expanding faster than they are being cut down” to the improving health of U.S. ocean fisheries to better outdoor air quality in American cities with the worst air pollution, Hayward shows there’s more to be optimistic about than there is to be troubled about.
The Environmental Protection Agency has also published its own Report on the environment. Last year’s report, the most recent, indicates outdoor air quality has improved, there’s been a net gain in wetland acreage, public-source drinking-water problems are uncommon and forest land is expanding after declining for a century.
Despite the gains, the dupes will still feel angry at capitalism because a hurricane strikes some coast. They will still volutarily sit in the dark for an hour just to prove they can. They will still believe that creating stagnation in western economies will keep the poor polar bears alive. And they will still celebrate a ‘Holy day’ that teaches children what they should already be taught at home: throw away your trash, be a good steward of all things, and play nice.
Happy earth day suckers!
Are you on “the list”?

Homeland Security document targets most conservatives and libertarians in the country
Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
Report warns of rise of right-wing extremists
Further, it says that any possible new restrictions on gun ownership, combined with vets’ trouble reintegrating into their communities during a bad economy, “could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.”
“The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by right-wing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement,” the report states.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to remember the 2nd and 10th amendments, continue to dare to speak out against Obama, illegal immigration and abortion-on-demand, and stockpile ammunition.
There, if that didn’t put me on a list nothing will.
AIG bonuses show just how stupid some really are
Sometimes the populist rhetoric of the morons sinks so low that one has to wonder how much longer our country can sustain itself. Such is the case of the AIG execs who are now being hounded in their own homes by busloads of jackasses hellbent on making life more equal for all.
A busload of activists representing working-class and middle-class families paid visits Saturday to the lavish homes of American International Group executives to protest the tens of millions of dollars in bonuses awarded by the struggling insurance company after it received a massive federal bailout.
First, to say these idiots “represent working-class and middle-class families” is laughable. They sure as hell don’t represent me. And while I’m not thrilled with the bonus situation, I would like those self-annointed representatives to find their way over to the homes of congressional Democrats that failed to write provisions into the bailout that prevented such bonuses. At least direct your anger at the appropriate party! But what is really indicative of the entire scenario are these words from Emeline Bravo-Blackport:
We think $165 million could be used in a more appropriate way to keep people in their homes, create more jobs and health care,” said Emeline Bravo-Blackport, a gardener.
She marveled at AIG executive James Haas’ colonial house, which has stunning views of a golf course and the Long Island Sound. The Fairfield house is “another part of the world” from her life in nearby Bridgeport, which flirted with bankruptcy in the 1990s and still struggles with foreclosures and unemployment.
“Lord, I wonder what it’s like to live in a house that size,” she said.
Golly! I wonder what it’s like to attend an Ivy League school, get the best education in the world, and then magically end up with a high paying job! Where is the justice? I just wish those rich folks would invest their salaries and bonuses into money-making ventures like government run health care and keeping people who can’t afford their homes from going into foreclosure! And there certainly are no Democratic politicians that live in colonial homes with golf course views.
At the end of the day, there is nothing more pathetic than those who seek to cut into the successes of the rich just to satisfy their Freudian Id, “workers of the world unite” mentality. It doesn’t work. Just ask Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Cuba, and now Fairfield, Connecticut.
Ayn Rand – Parody no more?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand doesn’t seem like a parody anymore, but more like a reality as we move closer to directive 10-289. “Freedom has been given a chance and has failed. Therefore, more stringent controls are necessary. Since men are unable and unwilling to solve their problems voluntarily, they must be forced to do it.”
What makes the East Coast so weird anyway?
We’ve got our own little piece of snobby, California-lite liberaldom here in Colorado. It’s called Boulder and though I have met some decent folk there they are definitely a minority. I wouldn’t live there for anything. Not a chance. While we often laugh and poke fun at the idiocy that often emanates from the various crevasses and pits of the nation they really can’t be ignored. They challenge basic concepts like marriage and are laying the ground for things like carbon and consumption taxes and rigorous regulation of every aspect of your daily life. This is just another step in that direction and that day is coming. Mark my words.
Undoubtedly some day I’ll be sitting around with the missus in my loincloth stoking the illegal fire with wild animal dung telling the disbelieving grandchildren about the distant past when we actually possessed something known as “motorized transportation” and “electricity”. They will wag their heads in shock and horror at the thought that we once spewed poison in the air and fed such ancient monstrosities upon carbon based fuels.
A Global Warming Howler for the New Year
Pursuant to Assembly Bill 1229, a sticker displaying a rank comparing “the emissions of global warming gases from the vehicle with the average projected emissions of global warming gases from all vehicles of the same model year sold in the state” must be affixed to all motor vehicles henceforth sold in the state. These so-called “Global Warming Scores” range from 1 to 10, with 1 representing a vehicle selfishly emitting an excess of 520 “CO2 – equivalent Grams per mile” and 10 given to those altruistically checking in at under 200.Okay, so CO2 grams emitted per mile would appear a tangible, albeit excruciatingly inconsequentially silly, measure. But just what is a “CO2 – equivalent?”

In the name of “fairness” and “equality” eHarmony forced to compromise principles
In our sporadic discussions on gay marriage the conversation seems to always turns to this main point; what should society morally tolerate and why do conservatives care? One of the latest posts on Keith Olbermann and his tearful defense of gay marriage demonstrates this point. In it, Andre ponders: I guess the one thing I still don’t get is why this is so important to people on your side of the aisle. If you really want to protect marriage, where are the bans on no-fault divorce? On the same link, DFV wrongly declares that, “it’s just that with me being the increasingly faith-deprived, secular humanist that I am, I tend to value the collective wisdom of the many over the declamations of the few. Right.
I might have some cause to sympathize with their views if I hadn’t read Michelle Malkin’s piece on the eHarmony shakedown. In case you were unaware, here is what has happened: eHarmony, a Christian based website that caters to those looking for serious relationships has been successfully sued by a gay man named Eric McKinley because they do not provide services for ‘men seeking men.’ Tragic indeed! According to Malkin:
Neil Warren, eHarmony’s founder, is a gentle, grandfatherly businessman who launched his popular dating site to support heterosexual marriage. A “Focus on the Family” author with a divinity degree, Warren encourages healthy, lasting unions between men and women of all faiths, mixed faiths, or no faith at all.
This is the classic case of the oppressed (McKinley and all other gay people) vs. the oppressors (eHarmony and Warren). Except in this case, McKinley is far from oppressed and has plenty of other dating web site options. In a story by USA Today, we learn that McKinley had gotten his little feelings hurt when he discovered that eHarmony had no options for men to meet men on their website. When McKinley saw that only straight couples could meet on eHarmony he found it “very frustrating… very humiliating to think that other people can do it and I can’t.”
But what the militant wing of the gay community will never publicly acknowledge is that they probably have more options for dating than the average Christian single person. Match.com and other lesser known sites have included men looking for men for years. But militant gays aren’t happy with having only some options available to them – they want all options available to them. Regardless of who owns the sites (or businesses), and regardless of what religious affiliation that site (or business) might have, every knee shall bow to the gay agenda or face discriminatory charges. For the Left, its all about creating a new agenda, not introducing and arranging marriages for couples in the name of love. Moreover, the tactics of the Left are not only anti-choice, but anti-free market. Militant gays most certainly could have launched a gay web site to compete with eHarmony. But instead, they go to court in an attempt to change social behavior. They opt not for competition but political and judicial coersion.
This is all the same twisted logic that has infected our classrooms, playgrounds, athletic fields, and now our businesses and halls of Congress. At the heart of the issue is that there are things that necessarily exclude some people. The response is then to attempt to make those things inclusive through the courts or through legislation, or to shut them down entirely. The Left will use the ‘fairness doctrine’ in this same nefarious way. Even though the Left already has liberal talk radio via taxpayer funded N.P.R. and the awesome “Air America” network, which has proven unable to attract the advertising dollars necessary to pay staff salaries, they want to tell the rest of America’s radio station owners what can and cannot be aired based on political ideology. It’s not that they will then listen to the stations; it’s just that they want to control the stations.
In the end, all of the discussions about the humanity, the love, the legalities of gay marriage ring hollow. When Andre wonders why conservatives even care and when DFV harps about the consensus of European society, the true objections I have are that these things are simply a means to an end. They are power plays designed to completely transform our society into a socialist wasteland where citizens and businesses kneel at the altar of secularism. After the settlement was announced (eHarmony has to pay New Jersey $50,000 and McKinley $5,000) McKinley called it “fabulous” and said he was happy with the outcome. In fact, he was so excited that he is “considering signing up for the new site once it launches.” So after all of the litigation, all of the cost, all of the discrimmination and all of the ”humiliation” (McKinley words) that has now been solved, McKinley might use the site.
But it never was about using the site at all. They just wanted to know they could.
The One modifies The Draft
I can’t stay away when things like this are happening so quickly. Obama’s plans for turning your children into his version of the “Young Pioneers” hit a bump in the road today as his mandatory “volunteerism” plan came under attack and the “I’m not even President yet but change is always good”‘ made some quick adjustments on his appropriately named Change.gov website. This morning it read:
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in undeserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
After a day of bad press and an aroused blogosphere it now reads:
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in undeserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
When the Left exercises control over a captive audience, it becomes a mere propaganda opportunity to influence and indoctrinate young minds. We’ve seen the results from their now almost complete control over the public school system and higher education. When the government controls your time, it controls your mind, your soul and your freedom. It’s nice to see that the Right wing blogs are already forcing the Obama regime to alter it’s public statements and hopefully it’s policies as well. For the next four years we are the conscience of the nation and the defenders of its remaining freedoms.
And if it comes to mandatory ‘volunteerism’ for school age children, I hope mine will be allowed to put their time in with, oh I don’t know, say how about The Minutemen or American Border Patrol and keep some Illegal Aliens out or teaching the indigent and underprivileged a civics lesson on respecting tradition, patriotism, honor and the flag. That would be a worthy cause or two and far better for this nation than some symbolism over substance feel good program undoubtedly being thought up by some utterly brainwashed Democratic intern even as we speak.
I predict that you will continue to see a major drain of students from public schools into private schools and home schooling under Barack Obama. A lot of people are not going to willingly subject themselves to this kind of group think, collectivist policy.
First He wanted to “save us from ourselves”, now He wants to force us to “save each other “. I reject his coming Cultural Revolution before it even gets started.
Freedom first.

Dave’s Quote of the Day
”The era of big government is over…”
-then President Bill Clinton, January 27, 1996
Apperently even he didn’t foresee the rise of someone like Barack Obama. Like lemmings off a cliff, the American people are getting ready to hand the presidency to someone who will, with his congressional allies, work to create the most powerful, intrusive and hideously obese federal government that has ever been seen. The plans have been laid to intrude on every aspect of your personal, financial and business life. All the name of climate change, the public good, and saving you from yourself. The question is only how quickly we will manage to model ourselves as some sort of post-modernist, European style, socialist state and how much real freedom will you willingly hand over without a fight to an entity that will never give it back. These are the questions we as a nation will very quickly be forced to ask of itself. The spirit of liberty may not be pleased with the answer.
Dave’s Quote(s) of the Day
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” – Barack Obama
“If we’re going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn’t this rather a big deal? Are we talking about creating a police state here? The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion. Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that? If not, why did he say it? What did he mean?” – World Net Daily editor Joseph Farah
“The statement was made in the context of youth service. Is this an organization for just the youth or are adults going to participate? How does one get away from the specter of other such “youth” organizations from Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union when talking about it?” -Michael Silence
Los Angeles says ‘no’ to fast food for poor people
The extent to which local governments go to protect the masses from themselves always amazes me. From bans on trans-fatty foods to bans on smoking or drinking or guns or <insert vice here>, there is no limit to what activity a government-gone-mad can take away from people. And Los Angeles demonstrates just how stupid city council members are when it comes to legislating for the health of its residents:
The Los Angeles City Council has approved a one-year moratorium on new fast-food restaurants in a low-income area of the city.
The moratorium unanimously approved Tuesday is a bid to attract restaurants that offer healthier food choices to residents in a 32-square-mile area of South Los Angeles.
Councilwoman Jan Perry says residents at five public meetings expressed concern with the proliferation of fast-food outlets in the community plagued by above-average rates of obesity.
Instead of worrying about protecting the citizens of their city by eliminating “sanctuary city” status for illegal immigrants, they place moratoriums on fast food joints so those citizens can’t become obese. And yet those same citizens will continue to vote for corrupt Democratic politicians to run their city into the ground. I guess you get what you vote for.
I, on the other hand, will continue to enjoy KFC and Taco Bell free from the restrictions of government bureaucrats. . . for now.
NYT REJECTS MCCAIN’S EDITORIAL; SHOULD ‘MIRROR’ OBAMA
When you dare to attack the postions of THE MESSIAH or point out that, indeed, the Emperor wears no clothes these kinds of things are bound to happen. I’m kind of surprised that the New York Times didn’t just outright ask John McCain to withdraw from the race and endore Barack Obama.
The NYT Rejects and then Lectures John McCain
An editorial written by Republican presidential hopeful McCain has been rejected by the NEW YORK TIMES — less than a week after the paper published an essay written by Obama, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Drudge goes on to publish the full McCain editorial in it’s original form and we will do so as well. Read the rest of this entry
The pitiful path of Multiculturalism
Schoolboys punished with detention for refusing to kneel in class and pray to Allah
Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and ‘pray to Allah’ during a religious education lesson.
Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.
They said forcing their children to take part in the exercise at Alsager High School, near Stoke-on-Trent – which included wearing Muslim headgear – was a breach of their human rights.
It is sometimes sad to have to sit and watch the slow disintegration of Western Civilization. The country that once set out to make the rest of the world “British” is now coercively teaching its children Islam while fretting about whether flying the English flag is somehow “racist”. How far they have fallen as the sun sets on the once mighty British Empire.
Can you imagine the uproar if the Pakistanis in the UK were forced to attend mass or partake in Holy Communion? There would be riots in the streets and the cabal of Leftists and Liberal apologists would be crying for blood and revenge while screaming tyranny and oppression with all their might.
If a similar situation were to happen to my children, that teacher would be ruing the day she made that mistake. Here is the gobbly gook, PC doublespeak reaction to the incident from the school.
“The headteacher David Black contacted this authority immediately complaints were received.
“Enquiries are being made into the circumstances as a matter of urgency and all parents will be informed accordingly.
“Educating children in the beliefs of different faith is part of the diversity curriculum on the basis that knowledge is essential to understanding.
“We accept that such teaching is to be conducted with some sense of sensitivity.”
Great minds think alike
Compare this column from Americanthinker to The Coming Fascist State that yours truly published a few days ago. The realization of what the environmentalists seek, and how far Obama and the Democrats may be willing to go to fulfill their vision, is increasingly on the minds of many and is certainly worthy of being made available to those who would care to enlighten themselves.
Why do we call them Democrats?
The Socialist Party of America has arrived, wearing Democrat clothing. Socialist control of the presidency and congress would knock America to its knees as nothing has before. What was inconceivable five years ago becomes a frightening possibility with Obama, Pelosi, Boxer and Reid. The Democrats socialist vision will be a disaster. If you think gas is expensive now, wait until the socialists in congress run the oil business.
Damn those law abiding citizens!!
The SCOTUS ruling restoring common sense to gun ownership in Washington D.C. most certainly has gun grabbers throughout the nation wringing their hands. In Chicago, Mayor Richard Daley is piping hot!
An “outraged” Mayor Daley this morning denounced a U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Washington D.C.’s handgun ban as a “frightening decision” and a “return to the days of the Wild West.”
Frightening indeed! As safe as Chicago is, one can only ponder the reasons why one would cling to God or guns. From the A.P.:
But all the talk about greater freedoms for gun owners doesn’t begin to explain what the ruling means in Chicago, which has seen a recent spate of gun violence.
Nine people were killed in 36 shootings during one weekend this spring. The next week, five people were found shot to death inside a South Side home.
Chicago Public Schools officials say 27 students have been killed by gunfire since September.
Pamela Bosley lost her 18-year-old son two years ago, when a bullet struck him as he helped a fellow student unload instruments outside a South Side Church.
“If you didn’t have the guns, we’d still have our children,” she said.
Annette Nance-Holt, whose 16-year-old son was killed on a city bus last spring when someone sprayed bullets inside it, was livid with the court’s decision.
“I’m still trying to figure out who we are more in love with, our children or our guns,” she said. “It’s crazy. I’m safer being a deer knowing people are hunting you.”
I wonder what they put in the water in Chicago that makes the population there so devoid of common sense? With the toughest gun laws on the books they seem perplexed as to why gun violence continues to be out of control?! Daley rails about the days of the “wild west” seemingly unaware that wild west towns never had weekends with 36 shootings.
Oh, and I won’t spend too much time looking for the ACLU or Glenn Greenwalds statements of gratitude that peoples constitutional rights in many big cities are going to be restored. For them, the Constitutional Amendments begin at one and skip to four and beyond.
NASA Scientist: Put Global Warming Skeptics on Trial

The literal hysteria when it comes to global warming is bringing the nuts out of the woodwork. It’s just amazing to watch, and would be humorous if these people didn’t wield power and prestige. This clown draws a government paycheck. And I’ve been attacked for comparing such tactics to fascism. I should demand yet another apology from my critics.
Put Global Warming Skeptics on Trial
It was reported in the London Guardian that NASA Scientist James Hansen (pictured), in prepared remarks to a House committee, “will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.”
I have a different vision of the future, one in which government bureaucrats like Hansen and radical environmentalists are held accountable for creating a multi-trillion dollar climate crisis in order to get more government funding and grow their own political and cultural influence.
The Coming Fascist State
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.” —-C.S. Lewis
If the government gets into the business of regulating and controlling carbon emissions it will be an unparalleled concentration of power far exceeding the New Deal under Roosevelt. The government will be in complete control over what businesses and average citizens consume and produce. It is the gateway excuse to rule, regulate and control your daily life in a fashion that we have never tolerated before but are now expected to meekly accept as we attempt to bailout the bathtub with a teaspoon. Never have Americans been so willing to hand over the most fundamental financial, transportation and quality of life decisions to a central authority on such questionable grounds.
We have been brainwashed that climate change is mainly caused by human activity and that somehow carbon taxes, economic socialism, monitoring lawn mower emissions, criticizing cow flatulence and flailing away at the faceless evil that is “oil” will somehow make a difference on climate changes we are only barely beginning to understand, let alone significantly influence one way or another.
Rather disturbingly, presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama made the following statement while campaigning in Oregon.
“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.” “That’s not leadership,” Obama declared. “That’s not going to happen.”
Orson Scott Card
Is a Democrat and my favorite author. He also in not a big fan of Obama and radical environmentalism. Andre once basically asked (sarcastically) “which is it, is Obama a Muslim or a nutty Christian?” Card believes the answer is that Obama’s true religion is environmentalism. He is probably right.
No, what troubles me most is what he said right after that, while campaigning in Oregon: “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”
“That’s not leadership,” Obama declared. “That’s not going to happen.”
What’s not going to happen? Us continuing to drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes at 72 degrees? Or other nations saying OK?
We already know, from Obama’s comments at a private meeting with big-pocket donors in San Francisco, that he’s an elitist who sneers at the common people who cling to religion and guns because they’re bitter about job losses twenty years ago.
But what this statement reveals is that Obama’s real religion has nothing to do with Reverend Wright.
Obama is a true believer in the religion of Environmentalism.
Elvis is no girly name!
I ran across this and had to laugh. Apparently in Sweden you can pick any number of things from your drugs to the gender (or transgender) of your spouse. But don’t you dare name your girl Elvis!
Swedish tax authorities have informed a couple in Stockholm that they may not keep the name Elvis for their five-month old daughter.
“It is the National Tax Board’s view that Elvis is a first name of a masculine type and as such may, in light of standard practice, be considered clearly inappropriate as a first name for a woman.”
No word yet on the names Pat, Kelly, Sammy, Blaine, Riley, Alex, Morgan, Haley, or Jan.
We can’t drive our SUVs?
Obama’s view of your economic future
Buried in the sea of Obama’s largest crowd (what Drudge calls the “Obama Mass”) is the economic ramifications of his latest pronouncements on global warming:
“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK…. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”
Let’s break that down. First, under an Obama administration, “we can’t drive our SUVs,” which begs the question: “What precisely qualifies as an ‘SUV’? Is my family minivan an SUV? Perhaps any vehicle that doesn’t deliver 30 miles per gallon will be a banned ‘SUV.’ Let’s move on. ” We can’t… keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times.” My home was set at 70 degrees last night and my office is at 72 degrees all day. I think it’s been proven that air conditioning actually does increase productivity. And why pick on ’72 degrees’? Why not 76 degrees? What is morally acceptable in this new Obamaworld?
Of course, what’s funny is that I keep my work temperature at pretty much 72 degrees for three fourths of the year and a bit cooler in the summer (about 70 depending on the day) and my wife drives a minivan. But that’s not good enough or acceptable for ol’ Barack. He would have to start picking on me personally. Back off Barry!
Dartmouth Prof To Sue Her Students?
Often it seems as though American higher education exists only to provide gag material for the outside world. The latest spectacle is an Ivy League professor threatening to sue her students because, she claims, their “anti-intellectualism” violated her civil rights.
Priya Venkatesan taught English at Dartmouth College. She maintains that some of her students were so unreceptive of “French narrative theory” that it amounted to a hostile working environment. She is also readying lawsuits against her superiors, who she says papered over the harassment, as well as a confessional exposé, which she promises will “name names.”
What were the student’s sins? They questioned some of her assertions in class!
Ms. Venkatesan lectured in freshman composition, intended to introduce undergraduates to the rigors of expository argument. “My students were very bully-ish, very aggressive, and very disrespectful,” she told Tyler Brace of the Dartmouth Review. “They’d argue with your ideas.” This caused “subversiveness,” a principle English professors usually favor.
Ms. Venkatesan’s scholarly specialty is “science studies,” which, as she wrote in a journal article last year, “teaches that scientific knowledge has suspect access to truth.” She continues: “Scientific facts do not correspond to a natural reality but conform to a social construct.”
Oh, the horrors!
After a winter of discontent, the snapping point came while Ms. Venkatesan was lecturing on “ecofeminism,” which holds, in part, that scientific advancements benefit the patriarchy but leave women out. One student took issue, and reasonably so – actually, empirically so. But “these weren’t thoughtful statements,” Ms. Venkatesan protests. “They were irrational.” The class thought otherwise. Following what she calls the student’s “diatribe,” several of his classmates applauded.
Ms. Venkatesan informed her pupils that their behavior was “fascist demagoguery.” Then, after consulting a physician about “intellectual distress,” she cancelled classes for a week. Thus the pending litigation.
Considering the fact that most teachers would be thrilled to have their students so engaged in a lecture that they ask questions, one must wonder what Ms. Venkatesan found so objectionable. Having taken a few literary theory classes himself, the Beast thinks he knows the problem.
Literary theory is crap. When one must teach crap, one gets a little defensive about challenges, because there is no good defense available. This is particularly galling for feminists.
But before we expand on that topic, let’s have a little look into recent history to see if we can find the root cause of Ms. Venkatesan’s case of the vapors.
Back in the 1980′s, feminists ran into a scientific wall. Their assertion that the genders were equal in all things (aside from certain surface physical abilities) began springing leaks when science departments on campus (who had originally been recruited to prove the truth of this) started collecting data that belied this article of feminist faith. Like a series of underground A-Bomb tests, the controversy rumbled below the surface for years. The controversy pitted geeky science profs against hairy-legged feminists (neither likely to get laid by the opposite sex) and became so toxic that womens studies departments even picketed their own science departments. But most of the battle was conducted in faculty meetings, with feminists flexing their political muscle to squelch research projects they now knew were likely to produce results inimical to their faith, or throw heretics out of the bunker (*Cough! Larry Summers!). But the truth eventually leaked out.
With some of their most fundamental assertions now proven irrational, academic feminists went for the only option available to them at the time: they rejected reason. Then they tried to reconcile it.
Witness the birth of “Feminist Science Studies“. Think of it as Gynocratic Creationism.
But there’s a problem. How to bring “Science Studies” out of the backwaters of the Women’s Studies swamp and movie it into the general campus. This is where French narrative theory (more widely known as “Crit Lit”) becomes useful.
Critical theory (literary criticism)
The second meaning of critical theory is that of theory used in literary criticism (“critical theory”) and in the analysis and understanding of literature. This is discussed in greater detail under literary theory. This form of critical theory is not necessarily oriented toward radical social change or even toward the analysis of society, but instead specializes on the analysis of texts and text-like phenomena. It originated among literary scholars and in the discipline of literature in the 1960s and 1970s, and has really only come into broad use since the 1980s, especially as theory used in literary studies became increasingly influenced by European philosophy and social theory and thereby became more “theoretical”.
This meaning of “critical theory” originated entirely within the humanities. There are works of literary critical theory that show no awareness of the sociological version of critical theory.
So what does this mean? It means that the unwitting student who signs up for this class (and it’s odd that they teach it at Dartmouth as freshman comp) will be given an anchor text and then made to interpret that text within the following guidelines:
DF
|
HLP |
P cont.QSV |
Essentially crit lit requires you to take a book, like, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and torture the text for insights into the Plight Of Women or The Plight of Africans, or The Plight of anybody else in the liberal pantheon. This is what Ms. Venkatesan apparently was attempting to do with her “Feminist Science Studies French Narrative” class – get it out of Women’s Studies and into the English Department. This is classic Academic Logrolling, and obviously the students didn’t buy it. Ms. Venkatesan – most likely unaccustomed to challenges and unequipped by the nature of her specialty for defending the indefensible – fell apart under scrutiny.
She has since fled Dartmouth in a snit for the presumably greener pastures of Northwestern. Good luck to them both!
Cheering for higher gas prices
Be very careful when encouraging those true, dyed in the wool, drinking the kool-aid, crawling over glass, environmental wacko types. They’ll will use anything to wage their little war on oil, the internal combustible engine, and the industrial state. And they are even managing to a leading car dealer to accept this garbage. Never mind that high gas prices already are squeezing the middle class, the independent trucker, and the American consumer and is downright catastrophic for the lower and fixed income classes. One shouldn’t have to be independently wealthy to own a motor vehicle, or to actually add a bit of fuel to it from time to time.
The Left claims to be “the compassionate ones” but when it comes to global warming and the threatened catastrophe of climate change they are glad to steamroll over everything and everybody in their quest to “save the planet”. Yet no proof exists that any effort made by any of us would make the slightest difference in the temperature rhythms of the climate. But we better make sure those greedy Americans are severely penalized for taking the family out to McD’s or over to Wal-Mart to buy their Chinese made shiny baubles and trinkets. This big brother approach and deep seated need to tax, shackle and otherwise oppress the American people and condemn their way of life is just the latest attempt at control and regulation of every aspect of your daily life. And this time it comes in a green colored package. How pretty! The watermelon (green on the outside and red on the inside) approach to punishing you for being an American by birth (or choice) continues unabated.
Should You Pay $6 Per Gallon?
Why higher prices makes economic sense
But America’s top car dealer says what we really need in this country is high gas prices—something in the neighborhood of $6 a gallon—if we ever really want to tackle the critical issues of the day: global warming and our oil addiction. “The biggest lie in America politics today is to say you care deeply about global warming and advocate for the price of gas to go down,” says Mike Jackson, CEO of the AutoNation car dealer chain. “Those are mutually exclusive concepts.”
Clash of the leftists cancels torch relay
I’ve said before that there is something delicious about two nefarious ideologies wreaking havoc on each other. This would appear to be the case of the Communist Chinese and the leftist greens. Its like watching the Patriots play the Raiders. Who do you root for?
Outside, a few French activists supporting Tibet had a fist-fight with pro-Chinese demonstrators. The French activists spat on them and shouted, “Fascists!”
In San Francisco, where the torch is due to arrive Wednesday, three protesters wearing harnesses and helmets climbed up the Golden Gate Bridge and tied the Tibetan flag and two banners to its cables. The banners read “One World One Dream. Free Tibet” and “Free Tibet.” They later climbed down.
I can think of nothing more unsavory than liberal green fascists that want to control the lives of everyone. Except liberal red commies that want to control the lives of everyone. Sigh. Who is a red-state conservative to pull for?
Rev. Wright cashes in on the American dream he despises
There is nothing worse than the self-annointed saviors of the various leftist ideologies tell the masses one thing while living the opposite. We were treated to such hypocrisy last year when it was revealed that Al Gore’s mansion consumed as much energy in a month as the homes of average Americans in a year. But at least Gore retro-fitted his home with enough solar energy to make the compound self-sufficient. I wonder how Jeremiah Wright can retro-fit his hypocrisy?
The concept of practicing what you preach is apparently lost on Wright.
After decades of lecturing blacks to remain loyal to the black ghetto and eschew the white suburbs, he’s now building a 10,340-square-foot mansion in the white suburbs. Among its amenities: an elevator, a rubberized exercise room and room for a future theater and indoor swimming pool.
Wright has made a lucrative career of convincing other blacks they can’t succeed on their own. For decades, he’s collected their alms in exchange for a steady diet of bitterness and resentment.
Shouting “God damn America” for its treatment of blacks, Wright got his parishioners hooked on misplaced anger in the South Side so he could cash out in Tinley Park.
Perhaps this is “sharing in the prosperity,” as Obama has so eloquently rephrased redistribution of income. Funny how those who demand economic parity end up taking the biggest share.
Somehow I doubt we will see Wright retro-fitting Tinley Park with his South Side bretheren. I also doubt that the Marxist rhetoric of Black Liberation Theology still applies when you reach the gated community or the #1 tee box at the country club. Convenient.
The Idiocy of it all….
Will the government, and our liberal progressive friends, ever get it through their heads that we are neither serfs, slaves nor subjects but free and sovereign citizens?
This was shamelessly lifted from Instapundit…
FROM THE EXAMINER, an editorial on those half-cocked D.C. gun searches:
If the U.S. Supreme Court seemed on the verge of finding the D.C. government guilty of violating its citizens’ First Amendment rights, would the D.C. police be going door to door looking for printing presses to confiscate? Of course not. It would be unthinkable. Civil libertarians would be — to use an apt phrase (figuratively speaking) — up in arms. But when the civil liberty at issue is the right to bear those arms, as protected by the Second Amendment rather than the First, District officials seem determined to leave no gun unturned in. . . .
The program has drawn criticism not just from gun-rights lobbies such as the National Rifle Association but also from the National Black Police Association and the American Civil Liberties Union. No matter how much respect and support police officers deserve, there is still an intimidation factor involved any time an officer is on one’s doorstep, such that the “permission” may not seem as voluntary as police mean it to be. So where does this end? How long before Lanier sends police into selected neighborhoods — selected by whom and on what basis? — asking to search homes for marijuana, terrorist literature, evidence of intent to commit a crime, fireworks or Cuban cigars? Lanier is establishing a precedent that would have horrified the founders of this republic.
Turning minds of mush into good little liberals
Step #1: “Examine and come to terms with your own personal prejudices.”Feminist scholar Peggy McIntosh had no idea she was a bigot until she was forced to take an honest look at herself. In school, she received “no training in seeing [herself] as an oppressor, as an unfairly advantaged person, or as a participant in a damaged culture.” The diversity training team knows that you are probably guilty of similar charges, so before the training begins, you must first recognize yourself as the “participant in a damaged culture” that you truly are.
A few years ago I authored The Institutionalsim of Liberalism which also addressed many of these same issues and official attempts at indoctrination on college campuses.
It is no exaggeration to state that college campuses exist in their own strange little world where right is wrong, perversity is praised, socialism is promoted, immorality celebrated, dissent stifled, traditional values mocked, Christianity ridiculed, patriotism abhorred and the foundations of our culture and society dismantled. It is sometimes subtle and sometimes blatant but the drumbeat of this philosophy is constant, pervasive and ever present.
When the inmates are running the asylum
Student suspended for skittles is cleared
The New Haven school system banned candy sales in 2003 as part of a districtwide school wellness policy, school spokeswoman Catherine Sullivan-DeCarlo said.
“Wellness”, yet another code word for the fascist nanny state. I’d demand my bag of skittles back as well. This is kind of funny to read since I used to be one of several competing ’candy pushers’ in my high school for some time.
Meanwhile, gay porn is required reading in an Ill. high school. So let me get this straight. Skittles bad, gay porn good. Got it.
The Hell With Mark Steyn, Let’s Go For Jonah Goldberg
48 views from Steyn Online…(sigh)
Jonah gets the Beast’s vote for heir to Bill Buckley, now. Despite the bad makeup job MSNBC did on him this evening on “Tucker” where you could see his scalp through the combover, Jonah was

“Scintillant! The brightest star in the conservative firmament, Mr. Goldberg deserves his spot as number one on the New York Times bestseller list! A million years from now when sentient raccoons unearth the crumbs of our civilization they will come across Goldberg’s writings and conclude that Gods really did walk the earth!”
Steroid testing liberal fascism?
In the wake of the steroid controversy surrounding major league baseball and professional sports in general many communities have begun to test their high school athletes for steroids. I’d like to know how the people who label themselves conservatives on this blog feel about steroid testing on these kids. Does this not fall under the catagory of “liberal fascism?” Drug testing intrinsically intrudes upon the privacy of the person being tested does it not?
Moreover while steroids have become the hot button popular issue they are hardly the most widely used drugs. Heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine kill far more people every year than steroids do. Why waste your time testing student athletes for steroids when there are kids in the very same schools on the verge of throwing their lives away by getting addicted to hard drugs? Why test student athletes at all? Any teacher or child psychologist will tell you that these kids are less likely to do drugs than those not involved in extra-curricular activities. I’m not trying to minimize the effects that steroids can have on a high school kid but they are hardly the biggest threat.
Is it a case of tracking? Are we just protecting the kids that we think are woth saving and giving up on the rest? E the Wise I must say I’m particularly interested in your opinion as you are both a teacher and football coach.
An indoctrinated generation

Have you ever noticed how children are not taught citizenship, patriotism, morality, virtue, integrity, and the concepts of liberty or free enterprise anymore? Instead they are being taught to be the new ideological enforcers of the Green Movement. How long until they become the new informants for the new utopia, turning in those who take a long shower or fail to recycle a plastic bag? And who’s running these households, the children or the parents?
There is nothing wrong with proper conservation and wise use of natural resources. But the increasing mantra of the radical environmentalism movement is that somehow we don’t have the right to consume natural resources. The truth is that we are to be stewards of the earth, but not subjegated to it. We should worship the Creator, but not the Creation.
Generation Green: Taking on parents to help them save the planet
Say hello to Generation Green.
They’re young, well-researched and mad as heck — inspired by an outpouring of movies, TV shows, books, Web sites and “green classes” at school. They’ve been learning how to save the planet since toddlerhood, and they’re taking on their parents to do more, do better.
While some parents fret that the pop culture tidal wave amounts to environmental indoctrination, others are looking for ways to accommodate their kids — and compromise when the price tag or the convenience factor come into play.
Dave’s Quote of the Day
“What I would challenge you to do is to put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there’s a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they’re doing is a criminal act. It’s an intergenerational crime in the face of all the knowledge and science from over 20 years.”
