CIA Interrogators Developed First Strands That Led to Bin Laden
A member of the US Senate Intelligence Committee has told CNBC that the death of Osama Bin Laden was a direct result of enhanced interrogations.
“The information that eventually led us to this compound was the direct result of enhanced interrogations; one can conclude if we had not used enhanced interrogations, we would not have come to yesterday’s action,” US Senator Richard Burr in a telephone interview with CNBC. Read more at cnbc.com.
Current and former U.S. officials say that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, provided the nom de guerre of one of bin Laden’s most trusted aides. The CIA got similar information from Mohammed’s successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi. Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania. In case you have a little bit of time on your hands this weekend. A powerful, and disturbing, movie to watch.
Horrible news from Germany today. A Kosovar punk, about 21 years old, screamed “Allahu Akbar!” before shooting at American servicemen in Frankfurt. Two are dead, and two are wounded as of this first report.

Yemen burns, just like Oman, Bahrain and Libya. This one is worth concentrating on as a radical leader, Abdul Majid al-Zinadi, a former mentor to Osama bin Laden, is leading the charge against Yemen’s leader, Ali Abdullah Saleh.
This time it’s completely new and different from all the other attempted terrorist attacks. No, wait, I’m wrong, it’s almost exactly the same. It just another angry young Moslem male from Saudi Arabia trying his best to kill a bunch of Americans. This follower of the religion of peace did everything but run down to FBI headquarters and turn himself in. Luckily one of my fellow citizens put “care enough to act” into effect and pointed him out to law enforcement.
“You who created mankind….grant me martyrdom for Your sake and make jihad easy for me only in Your path,” he wrote.
Now remember, “jihad” means nothing more than “struggle,” not “killing infidels in the name of Allah.” This is, after all, the Religion of Peace.
With all the juicy news from the Maghreb, I thought I’d throw a wrench and bring you back to reality with this rather unsettling story from Heidi Blake and Christopher Hope from the Daily Telegraph. Al-Qaida are capable of detonating more than just a dirty bomb according to intelligence reports.
You know things are pretty bad when liberal pundits like Richard Cohen of the Washington Post call the situation in the Middle East in general and Egypt in particular “chaos.” From Mr. Cohen:
Things are about to go from bad to worse in the Middle East. An Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement is nowhere in sight. Lebanon just became a Hezbollah state, which is to say that Iran has become an even more important regional power, and Egypt, once stable if tenuously so, has been pitched into chaos. This is the most dire prospect of them all. The dream of a democratic Egypt is sure to produce a nightmare.
Kudos to President Obama for upping the usage of attack drones in Pakistan. It looks to be keeping the local Al Qaeda franchise off-balance.
STRATFOR provides its usual excellent analysis on what is happening in Egypt. Though I rarely side with Zazu or Andre on anything (except perhaps music), they are right to point out that we have supported trash in order for them to hold off even worse trash. That has to end. We do need to support dissident groups who are more amenable to American concerns. Here is another concern: Hamas is able to cross the border from the Palestinian Territories into Egypt pretty much unhindered thanks to the chaos ensuing at the moment. This means they are wilfully trying to help the Muslim Brotherhood take over the reins of power in Egypt. If they do, that will almost assuredly mean war in the Middle East, and if that happens, it’ll spread out quickly throughout the Maghred, the Arabian Peninsula, and possibly into Turkey and Southern Europe. Attach that with the headaches in Chechnya, and you have a recipe for a very hot summer, war-wise.

Kim Zigfeld doesn’t like Russia. Her hatred of the political system is palpable. Sadly, she has a strong, strong reason not to like it. It is well on its way to becoming a fascist state, and each terrorist attack will make it easier for the Putin/Medvyedev regime to lock up the country in the way they wish to. A nasty terrorist attack occurred today at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, killing at least 29 passengers. I have a feeling it wasn’t Swedish Lutheran grandmothers involved in this latest round of terrorism.
The good times have just ended in analyst-land. Where were the Islamists while the revolution occurred? They were planning how to seize power. Enter Rachid Ghannouchi, who had been in exile for years in London. He is not Osama bin Laden. He leans closer to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Islamist Prime Minister of Turkey. Let us see where Ghannouchi takes Tunisia in this dangerous time.

Mark Rudd is a repentant terrorist. He’s still relatively liberal, and uses this forum at the Washington Post to take a crack at Sarah Palin, but he brings up some interesting points on what he felt being a witness (a cowardly one, in his words) to attempted murder, and what sort of sick thought which must have passed through the mind of Jared Loughner.
David Ignatius of the Washington Post reminds us of the Groundhog Day that is modern India and Pakistan. India has all the tools to be a successful country in the future, save one: their neighborhood. Pakistan can’t even find its own identity, much less develop a useful, worthwhile country like India has. Instead of picking fights over Kashmir (which should just vote for independence and fend for themselves), Pakistan should work on reforming the gruesome aspects of their culture, though, like as in Afghanistan, expect the tribal folk to keep molesting dancing boys before any real change comes to that part of the world.
Though written from a rather horrid liberal perspective, Michelle Goldberg’s article on Zeitgeist, the piece-of-trash film that inspired Jared Loughner to murder six and nearly kill a Congresswoman should be read. It is good to shine a light on the kooks who believe in the rubbish hucksters and pseudo-Conservatives like Alex Jones peddle.
I’ll be the first to compliment the President’s tact and self-control during the playing out of the tragedy in Tuscon. He does need to be commended for this, despite his preening fans trying to use murder as a political opportunity.
Still, I’m glad people like Jed Babbin have spent the time to do research into “harsh rhetoric” in order to keep President Obama honest.
No commentary needed here, folks. Joe Zamudio is a hero for holding down the gunman and being prepared to do what was necessary to keep him there, including killing him, if he had to. Ed Schultz showed uncharacteristic wisdom by simply shutting up and letting the man talk.
The absolute hatred that spewed forth from the Left for eight long years during the Bush administration can’t even be touched by anything the Right has come forth with in the last two. The Left is awash with hypocrisy if they attempt to lecture conservatives on “toning down the rhetoric.” Such silliness would be sad if it wasn’t so devious and underhanded. Liberals threw out polite political discourse many years ago so I guess we were just all stunned to hear them suddenly clamoring for such a thing this morning. What a shock that they suddenly had a Paul-on-the-road-to-Damascus moment.

Anyway, let’s start off the New Year with a bang. Er… on second thought… A young runt from the Taliban’s Pakistan wing is warning coalition forces that female suicide bombers will begin striking at targets soon. This grotesque tactic worked to brutal efficiency in places like Palestine, Sri Lanka and Chechnya, where “Black Widows” were used to great effect inside of Moscow’s subway system in Russia.
Islamic terrorism is not an open-ended, universal characteristic. Rather, it is a specific, narrowly defined phenomenon. It is fueled by Muslim extremists bent on waging a holy war against the West. Its perpetrators tend to be young adults from the Middle East, North Africa, the Arab world and the Muslim ghettos of Europe. Most jihadists fit this profile. What is needed is not more groping, crotch-grabbing or nude screening, but better intelligence-gathering, random checking and targeted profiling.
Washington insists on perpetrating the illusion that a Christian grandmother in Iowa poses the same possible national security threat as a 19-year-old Yemenite exchange student majoring in Islamic studies. Hence, America is squandering precious resources and manpower, as well as abrogating basic civil liberties and humiliating its population, in order to appease the sensitivities of the Muslim lobby.
Black is white and white is black now in the Islamic world. In a move that is as disgusting as it is surreal, Raymond Ibrahim relates at the Hudson New York Briefing Council that Islamists in Egypt are trying to paint Coptic Christians as psychopathic suicide bombers, rapists, and killers in general. While the Western world looks at Egypt dumbfounded, the so-called Arabic Street (hah!) actually believe this tripe.

There are many in Africa and Asia as well who are celebrating the capture of this fiend, and Russia is quaking in her boots because Bout will probably sing like a canary about how his government aided arms sales to despots.

Since the new TSA touchy-feely rules are now in effect and the blog topic of the week I thought I’d share a riveting and revealing story that is quickly going viral. This gentleman’s blog post on his fun at the airport has received over 5,000 comments and his calm but brave stand against fairly invasive airport security procedures has made him a Robin Hood for a great many Americans who are just fed up with it all. Pay special attention to the multitude of threats he received and the statements about him ‘giving up his rights’ that pepper the account. Kind of makes you wonder what they would do if entire flights just refused to participate in technological strip-searches and government groping exercises.

Andrew Breitbart’s ‘Big Peace’ reports, via John J. Xenakis, that the Caucasus is beginning to flame yet again. Xenakis provides excellent analysis, of course, but for those who are laymen regarding this most troubled part of Russia, they should read Paul Goble’s Window on Eurasia or the ever-informative, ever-anti-Russian-government La Russophobe to see what they have to say about Moscow’s bungling of the region.

Chechnya will never be quelled so long as a madman like Moscow’s hand-picked strongman, Ramzan Kadirov, is allowed to run roughshod over the citizenry, driving them to extremists who have more in common with Al Qaeda rather than the indigenous Sufi movements which are more prevalent in the region. Expect to see a lot more attacks like this one soon in Chechnya, possibly igniting a third war in the region in the past 20 years.
A shameful idiot of a Governator goes to Moscow and looks like an industrial tycoon in comparison to the locals, who are salivating at making a pseudo-Silicon Valley near Moscow that will, most likely, simply turn into a place for either the Putin/Medvyedev axis or the Russian Mafia to shake down and scare off any investment. It gets worse as Anna Chapman, the “sexy spy,” (right…) who bumbled her way into fame gets hired by a bank for her “advice.” Pity poor Russia.
Russian racism is nothing new. Anyone who doesn’t look like a run-of-the-mill Slav, even if you are as pale as the Georgians are, gets called the local equivalent of a nigger (and you’d better believe they find it as offensive as an African-American would). Russian Muslims in general are being treated in a disgraceful and inhuman way in Perm, Siberia, and insurrections are beginning to happen against officers who treat conscripts harshly. More bad news for the Russian Bear, I’m afraid.

To be perfectly honest, I’m surprised that it wasn’t some psychotic atheist group trying to gun for the Pope rather than the usual Islamofascist slimebags. Britain has become an absolutely hostile ground to Christianity, though they allow Islam without so much as a peep, and any manner of perversion to seep into popular culture. Dawkins, Hitchens and those who peddle atheistic trash have much to answer for in making the island such hostile territory.
For his part, Pope Benedict XVI has remained calm and has stuck to his schedule, undaunted.

Dutch Question 2 Men Arrested on Terror Suspicion on Flight From Chicago to Amsterdam
Dutch investigators on Tuesday questioned two Detroit-area men arrested at Amsterdam’s airport after U.S. authorities found suspicious items in their checked luggage, including a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle and a knife and box cutter.
The pair were arrested Monday morning at Schiphol Airport after getting off a United Airlines flight from Chicago, where their decision to change their flight plans raised flags in the U.S. that they were potentially assessing the aviation system for a potential future terror attack
They were being held at the airport for questioning, but neither has been charged with any offense in the Netherlands, said Martijn Boelhouwer, spokesman for the national prosecutor’s office. Under Dutch law, the men can be held without charges for up to six days.
Sources told Fox News that the men posed no immediate danger to the flight, but U.S. officials are looking into whether the men were “testing the system.”
Not sure who Fox’s “source” is, but they are dumber than mud and not to be considered a trustworthy “source”. My memory seems to be better than the “source”, follow the wavy lines:
OK, I’ll have to let someone else make the argument for needing a box cutter on an actual flight. I personally can’t think of one. Toss in the fact that one of the Al-whatevers is from Yemen flying all over the civilized world with lots of cash and pretend IED’s and I think you’ve got someone who really just needs to be locked up permanently or gotten rid of for eternity.
And once Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi and Hezam al Murisi have been given their martyrdom, that “source” needs to be taken as far away from airports as you can possibly get. When I fly I want someone who knows what a threat is and does something about it ASAP.
The story doesn’t read terribly clear but if they knew that these Muslems had box cutters before they got on the plane to fly to Amsterdam, I’d be suing the hell out of whoever made that decision to let them fly if I were on that flight. That’s just nuts. Spy on them later. Let them know getting on planes with box cutters isn’t tolerated now.

Africa will be at the forefront of any Crusade that will happen against Islam. We in the West complain of how bad we have it, but imagine what Africa has had to suffer. Humiliation, embarrassment, slavery, wholesale rape of their culture, destruction of Christian and animist strongholds. Yet in former Muslim strongholds like Kenya, Christianity explodes. The threats Islam pose are dwindling, as true Christians are losing their fear of this cursed scourge. The money quote of the article is here:
