One of the things that bugs me about being a “conservative” is the way my brethren behave when stories of “free lunch” surface. In an election year, the stories are going to start coming pretty quickly and in a truly bad economy, there are plenty of them. Maybe it’s time, as a movement, for a [...]

by John Semmens Reading of Constitution in House Assailed Jan 9 The new Republican majority’s insistence on an oral reading of the US Constitution in the House of Representatives was assailed by outspoken Democrats as “a colossal waste of our precious time.” “Get real,” demanded Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). “We don’t even have the time [...]

The sky is falling! The earth is warming! The End is here! The defense budget might be cut!!! Yeah right, we can only wish. Any currently touted cuts will likely disappear in the upcoming budget negotiations, or near enough not to matter. Too much in campaign contributions depends on keeping President Eisenhower’s “military-industrial complex” happy, [...]
The Sage’s Quote of the Day
“The problem is not just that some leftists can’t understand the love that some people feel for their unborn children — or for their children who (like Sarah Palin’s son Trig) were born with disabilities. What really infuriates is the contempt they show for parents who make different choices than they would . . . and the smug arrogance with which they pronounce judgment on the most intimate aspects of others’ private lives.” – Eugene Robinson
What Is the Government Good For?
Jan 6

Noting how much money disappeared in the direction of government led to wondering what we’re getting for it. Unlike our governors, we have to earn our money; we can’t just point a jail at someone and demand it. A big item is military defense. Defense from who? A few Seals and drones have returned al-Qaeda to just [...]
Articulating an American Grand Strategy
If we take into account the broadest implications of President Obama’s disastrous domestic and foreign policies, a few strategical revisions for America’s future are in order. The following presents a fairly clear and comprehensive roadmap for helping the United States become a more freer, more prosperous, and securer nation.
1. The U.S. should act in its own self-interest first and foremost as a political mandate determining its foreign policy grand strategy.
The Myth That America Spends Too Much on Defense
The Fiscal Year 2013 defense budget promises to slash $43 billion, leaving $662 billion to equip the world’s largest economic and strongest military power. Normally, cutting the defense budget could be justified considering America’s financial stress, if it were peacetime, and if the threats were relatively few and non-taxing.
We’ve all seen the statistic – “America spends more on defense than the next ten largest military budgets combined.” While true, the pre-eminent superpower checks in on defense spending at a meager 4.7% of GDP in 2010, ranking tenth overall.

Andy Stern I: The Maoist Mastermind behind Obama
No single man in America has been more important to Barack Obama’s succession to the presidency than former SEIU president Andy Stern. Though not as whispered about in conservative circles as the media mogul and currency destroyer George Soros, Stern’s union muscle propelled Obama into the Oval Office, a source of political clout every bit as crucial as the fawning media coverage that allowed the president’s “hope and change” mythology to take hold in the public mind.

Hospitable Hospitals Housing Illegal Guests in the Big Apple

Americans Slumber On While Progressives Take Over Internet & Embrace Muslim Brotherhood
If you watched the news today, you might wonder what those little blips between Republican campaign reporting were. They were so short, and yet so unbelievable, that you might think you dreamed them. They were so outrageous that you might think it was actually a nightmare. But then, thank goodness, the smiling reporter returns to scenes of balloons, flags & glitter- the campaign trail!- and you feel much better. Reassured that none of it was what you thought you heard.

The Fourth of July and Syria- Musings of a Patriot

Dave’s Quote of the Day
“Succinctly, ‘Progressivism’ is the incremental taking of freedom in exchange for growing servitude to the state, benefiting those it selects to receive the product of your labor, your intellect, your talents and skills. It is corrosive to societies, does not progress them in any way. Those who promote it will call sell it as ‘fair’, but it is entirely the opposite.” -Unknown

What Do Fred Flintstone & the Occult Have In Common?
ANSWER: THEY BOTH WEAR SILLY UNIFORMS
My father sent me an email recently in response to a theoretical question I had concerning the Messiah for whom the Jews are waiting. I was wondering if they knowingly rejected Christ or if they truly still thought that God would send a great king with armies as their Messiah. I mean, if Jesus is the Messiah (and he is), then it should be evident to all who seek him, right? Being the son of God is no small thing. The son of God would have a presence that would be undeniable. And Jesus’ presence is undeniable. (Hence, the hate he and God draw from so-called unbelievers. You never see them hating on Mohammad, do you?) And being so self-evident, if the Jews reject him, then they are rejecting God. Read the rest of this entry

“…[I]t is to the property of the citizen, and not to the demands of the creditor of the state, that the first and original faith of civil society is pledged. The fortunes of individuals, whether possessed by acquisition or by descent or in virtue of a participation in the goods of some community, were no part of the creditor’s security, expressed or implied…[T]he public, whether represented by a monarch or by a senate, can pledge nothing but the public estate; and it can have no public estate except in what it derives from a just and proportioned imposition upon the citizens at large.” – Edmund Burke

“BRUSSELS— The European Union said Friday that 26 of its 27 member countries are open to joining a new treaty tying their finances together to solve the euro crisis. Only Britain remains opposed, creating a deep rift in the union. In marathon overnight talks, the 17 countries that use the euro gradually persuaded nearly all the others to consider joining the new treaty they would create. Some of those countries may face parliamentary opposition to the treaty, which would allow for unprecedented oversight of national budgets.”

Lessons from the Roman Conquest of the Britons
Nothing forthcoming should be alleged to be in advocacy of theocratic government, a fusion of political and social power repressive to those minds not disposed to believe in the invisible or the not easily demonstrable, and an arrangement of civil government laid to waste during The Enlightenment. But it should be noted the role religion plays in reinforcing the bases of moral authority in the state.
The following is a passage from the Scottish philosopher David Hume’s A History of England. A relatively early section on The Britons, strewn with citations from eminent first hand sources like Julius Caesar and historians of the caliber of Tacitus and the Venerable Bede, makes explicit the necessity of crushing the religion of a conquered people in order to make them obedient and useful servants of the state.
Firstly, let us consider the role of the Druids among the Britons in preserving the social and political order. In this caste resided considerable power, and its functions were varied and vital to the tribe. [Continued at Rogue Government]

When Your Countrymen Let You Down
I have a friend, a neighbor, who told me the other day that she just couldn’t wait for Christmas to be over with. Now, to put this comment into perspective, you have to understand this woman. If Christmas could be wrapped and packaged into the shape of a woman, it would be her. Every year, she opens her home to all her family members (distant and close), her neighbors and friends. The tree is up and fabulously decorated before Thanksgiving because she always throws a Thanksgiving shin-dig-blow-out with armies of platters packed with delectables. Her table decor just makes you wonder. Her neat, tidy home sparkles in the neighborhood and warmly beckons a drop by visit. She is always stocked with cleverly selected wines which will surely end up in your hand should you choose to accept the unspoken invitation.
So, for her to say what she said left me rather speechless. Read the rest of this entry
